I placed an order online, was called and told I would need to pay for 3day shipping due to the heat and the chocolate I was ordering. I said OK and paid. Several days later I got a 2nd call which was a repeat of the 1st call. Told them I had paid for the 3 day shipping and should have had my merchandise. The woman apologized and said she would send it out that day, Wed. and I would get it on Friday(3 days). It never came. Monday I contact them, they had STILL not shipped it out!!! I am now waiting for a refund– I have cancelled the entire order-no confidence that the product would have been fresh. Worst online shopping experience I’ve had in 15 plus yrs.

Was so excited to go to Gaucho-pulled up and the sign on the door said they were no longer open to the public that they just sold wholesale now. Very sad.

Overall I believe this place can have so much potential. Unfortunately, at the moment I just do not trust them. Several occasions I have come in and buy really good olive oil, bread and hams. At first they sweet talk you and offer great customer service. I though how awesome is this. But at purchase I felt i overpaid from what it was listed. So I go back look at prices and yes, they charged me more. I asked and this guy I am assuming is in charge wearing a hat, rudely talks to my wife and me how we take advantage of his products. So we left and asked for a refund of $ 145 which only $ 50 have been refunded. Some items are overpriced and some items can be found in other stores cheaper.

Great selection. Great service. Convenient location. I went in looking for imported cheeses and pesto on a friend’s recommendation. I was not disappointed. I was offered help and shown around by a very willing and friendly young lady. I was delighted to have found marcona almonds. I will definitely go back.

This place is awesome!!! I am switching back to dayshift and wanted to try an awesome place for lunch before that. I happened to open my email this morning and saw the Unilocal email called«Sandwiches: The Best Thing in Sliced Bread» and decided to go for a sandwich. I saw that Gaucho’s Gourmet does sandwiches, so I went for it. It has been here for 3 years, but I have just discovered this gem! Apparently they just started doing the sandwich meal deals, but it’s such a great deal for an entire delicious gourmet meal! I got the San Daniele, a San Pellegrino and Limoncello cake for under $ 12. If you are not too much of a sweet person, they offered me a pasta salad in place of a slice of cake. What a deal! I highly recommend them! I came in on a Wednesday, but if you can’t make in it time for lunch, they are open Saturday’s too. I highly recommend them! Come and get their lunch deal! It is so worth it! You can bet I will be back

THEBREAD! Get the bread! Trust me on this. Yes, it’s frozen. Yes, it comes all the way from the East Coast(I forget which state). But when you toast it up… oh man! If you’re still skeptical about the bread, come on a Saturday for one of their sandwiches from 10:30am-2:30pm. They use the bread from their freezer case and the fillings come from their deli counter. My husband & I have had the ITALIANPORCHETTA(which included warm porchetta, spicy candied kumquats, organic greens all on toasted baguette & melted aged provolone) and the PROSCIUTTOSANDANIELE(made with 16 month aged prosciutto, semi dry tomatoes, basil pesto butter, arugula, on toasted baguette & melted mozzarella). Both sandwiches were fantastic! Order at the deli counter and find a place to stand in the back of the store. There is one table with two chairs. But those are usually taken. So bet on standing. Saturdays are the best days to come for first timers. Not only is lunch available for purchase, there are usually cooking demos or tastings going on. Plus, there is a sizable selection of organic produce. My only gripe is that the space is very cramped and a bit claustrophobic. Definitely no room to push a stroller or a wheelchair through the aisles. Other than that, this place is a definitely a foodies’ paradise. Come check it out and get the bread!

Not only does this store pack an amazing variety of gourmet food items in its location, but everyone in the store is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Bring your questions and have your curiosity– and hunger– satisfied at Gaucho Gourmet. And do try their Saturday lunches, you can enjoy a tasty lunch special while watching a food demo and shopping at the farmer’s market in their store. What’s not to love?

Brilliant spot to go to if you want to get hard to find products like Kimbo coffee and San Benedetto tea. I ordered a meat and cheese platter and it was incredible. Jamon, speck and 2 kinds of salame. Un. Real.

Gaucho Gourmet is located in an industrial shopping center off of Isom Rd. It is closer to the airport side where Jones turns into Sandau if that helps. After seeing Stephen C.‘s picture of the Nutella cheesecake it was evident that I needed to make my way over here. What a nice surprise of a market. Fresh cheeses that are reasonably priced, different types of bistro sausage, an olive bar, and a whole aisle of olive oils. On Saturday’s the deli area offers sandwiches. I had the pancetta BLT, which runs $ 7, and for $ 3.50 you can add a Pellegrino soda and a dessert. It came with a side of olives, and the bread was perfectly toasted and crusty. Gaucho Gourmet also carries Savannah Bee company honeycombs that add a nice touch to any cheese tray. The market has small hand carts, but it’s too small for push carts. I’m not sure how easy it would be to navigate with multiple children, but it’s doable. I also forgot my reusable bags, which would have come in handy for the stuff I was carrying. The market is open other days of the week, but the hours are limited so definitely check online before heading over.

This place is a must visit if you are a gourmet cook, just love good food or are looking for a gift for someone who loves to cook. They have items from South America, Italy, Spain, France, etc. You can get sample tastings of many items before you buy and if you go by on Saturday, you just might catch one of there tasting events with celebrity chefs, wine tastings and fresh produce. I love this family run European style market!

#AllergenInfo — Soy: Most, if not all of their deli meats are soy-free, and the Ciabatta bread they get from New York is soy-free as well, but comes from a factory that produces items that contain soy. I’ve been here before to buy wonderful things like Duck Bacon, and now they are serving sandwiches on Saturdays so they can shine a yummy spotlight on their deli items. On my first visit to try their lunch, they were very happy to make sure that they could accommodate my soy allergy, and went over the ingredients of all the sandwich items to make sure they were safe. And even better, when I made another visit a month later, they remembered me and my allergy, and helped me check the new items right away. My first sandwich was their Hot Italian with Burrata — A very good sandwich with the mildly spicy meat flavor dominating if you eat it one way, or if you flip it over, the taste of the burrata comes to the front, with the spiciness of the meat still noticeable, but moved mainly to the background. It came with a small sampler from their olive bar.(The olives do have pits.) There were some harsh notes to the smaller black olives, but I thought the green ones would have brought a nice flavor to the sandwich if that had been an option. With that lunch, I got a San Benedetto Lemon soda from their refrigerated soda case, and while I don’t think it made a good choice to complement the sandwich, it did go well with some of the olives. On my next visit for lunch, I started with their Barratta appetizer with baguette, tomatoes, balsamic Vinegar, and olive oil. It was very smooth, but being a salt fiend, I thought it could use some salt.(I might consider bringing my own salt in the future since they don’t have any at the table.) I didn’t finish it off, and they were kind enough to let me package it up to take home. The sandwich this time was their Smoky sandwich with Ham and Burrata. The bread was nicely toasted, with the flavor of the meats really shining through.(After all, they are trying to convince you to buy more of their meat.) This time I got a San Pellegrino Limonata to drink, and it went better with the sandwich than the San Benedetto I had the prior time. I’d have this one again because the flavor profile is strong enough on its own to wake you up! You can have your sandwiches to go, or you can eat at the small communal table they set-up in the back of aisles. As I said above, I’ve already been shopping here, but they now are quickly becoming my favorite place to eat a sandwich.

What an awesome little culinary gem. Fellow Unilocaler Sonia C told me about this place and what a hidden source of culinary treasures are available here and she was so right. The store is small but holds many amazing imported delights. The olives bar is awesome. So many wonderful flavored salts and other spices. A great selection of olive oils and vinegar. The meats and cheeses choices produce instant food lust. High quality at a fair price. Since we all must eat we might as well enjoy it. This place has some ingredients that will take your cooking to the next level.

It’s like Disneyland for foodies. Gaucho Gourmet carries food items that I have not been able to find at other stores in San Antonio. They have a good assortment of charcuterie, cheeses and other delights behind a small counter. Additionally, they carry uniquely flavored vinegars, oils, condiments, coffees and spices. They do not sell wine or beer. Don’t miss the olive/pepper bar and the freezer case with assorted desserts, breads and other yummy things. The store itself is warehousey and in a business park. We drove right by it when we went looking for it. Follow their Facebook page for info on events and sales.

LOVE this place! Best places are mostly found by word of mouth or by Unilocal. A good friend told me about this hidden gem tucked away in an office park. It actually is a working warehouse. It supplies a lot of food for many hotels and restaurants here in San Antonio. After hearing about this gem and trying some of their food at a party, I had to go. So I made my way. It was a little tricky to find, but worth the hunt. It’s a family owned business that is now open to the public and thank God, because now I can find some amazing delights from South America and Europe. When I first got there, this nice lady(can’t remember her name) gave me a tour of warehouse. And off I go to shop. My better half found Mr. Tango which is a blood sausage from Argentina, and its phenomenal! They also have an olive bar and a variety of olive oils. They have a deli counter that has some amazing cheeses and a variety of salami and prosciutto. I also found(my favorite) foie gras in the freezer section! I was in heaven! There was so many different spices, and different foods that I wanted to try, I felt like a kid in a candy store. So if you like to cook, or know someone who does, this is a place to check out. Sign up on their email list(either there or on their website) and they will send you their weekly specials.

Hidden away in an office park, this importer of fine foods from Europe and South America has obscure items you will not find anywhere else in the city. Principally, they are a mail-order /wholesale business, but they open their doors to the public during limited hours(M-F: 11a-5p; Sat: 10a-2p). There is a small deli counter that features fine cheeses and cured meats. Standouts include Spanish hams and Matambre, an Argentinian speciality(meat rolled with vegetables and hard cooked eggs). The shelves are lined with loads of rare treats. Olive oil connoisseurs will fall in love with the extensive selection of imports. There is a good selection of chocolate and short cuts for dessert(crêpe fillings, pastry shells, Morello cherries, dulce de leche…) The bulk of the inventory is European inspired, but I found a bottle of Red Boat Fish Sauce. There are many things packed on the shelves, but the store size is manageable and it is a good place to spend 30 minutes just looking around. On the weekends, they often have a cooking class or a special guest. They advertise weekly specials on their email newsletter, as well as their facebook page.
