The food is slow and the restaurant could do with a deep clean and some updating but the food is absolutely delicious and the service was polite and consistent. I ended up eating more of my plate than I meant to. So good.

The food here is very good. Small establishment with limited seating. Great service and reasonable prices. I had the burrito with red sauce… Street tacos were awesome. Definitely will continue to enjoy this tucked away little eatery. Incredibly friendly staff

Unilocal doesn’t lie. ;) The food was great and the staff was very friendly. The tortilla soup was full of veggies and perfect for the rainy day. It’s super tiny in there but cute. I love it. We will be back.

Some of the worst food I’ve ever had and slow service. With sll the other choices nearby, this place should do better

Great family owned restaurant that makes you feel like family. My wife and I ate here for the first time and the staff was so courteous and friendly. The dining area is very small but the food and prices are very good. We really enjoy the tacos and the chips and salsa were hot. Great little hole in the wall with great food. We’ll be back.

So we found El Buen Gusto after passing it many times and finally deciding to try it. It’s a small place hidden in a small shopping center sandwiched between a Pizza Hut and Insurance Place but is big on flavor. First thing I noticed after walking in was the Los Angeles Dodgers sign on the wall by the cash register which instantly peaked my interest since I’m a native Southern Californian. Brothers Ramon and Alfredo, along with family, are from the city of Highland Park just outside of L.A. The food at Buen Gusto is a refreshing change to the usual Tex Mex style food that is a dime a dozen here in San Antonio. The usual items are definitely offered but with a SoCal flair. My favorite dish is the Chiliquiles plate that Ramon and Alfredo have already pegged as my «usual» every time I go in. I usually judge every taco place I’ve eaten at by the quality of their Chiliquiles dish and Buen Gusto’s is by far the best in San Antonio. They serve it in either red or green sauce but I recommend the green. The corn tortilla strips always come still crispy and not soggy like most. It comes with two eggs(I take mine over easy) beans, tortillas, and potatoes. Oh the potatoes. not the normal overly fried cubed variety that you see on most plates. These potatoes are absolutely delicious. My advice is order an extra side of these and add a side of bacon while you’re at it. The guys are very proud of their food and menu but will gladly customize a dish for you like the Nopales(cactus) and egg a la Mexicana dish they recently made me. I’ve dubbed it the«East Los Special». We mainly find ourselves here for breakfast but they also serve lunch and dinner on days they stay open late. The burritos are California style along with the carne asada fries. I’ve heard their burgers are great but haven’t had them yet. El Buen Gusto is quickly becoming a neighborhood favorite as we can tell by the lack of available tables but the wait is not very long and everyone doesn’t seem to mind sharing the small dining space if it means they get to get some of this fantastic food. Get it ToGo if you don’t want to wait. We’re hoping Ramon, Alfredo and the rest of the Buen Gusto family will expand or get a bigger place at another location but until then we’ll keep coming and hope to find an empty table and full plates of deliciousness.

This is my first time visiting this restaurant and I was amazed from the flavor of the food. Their prices were more affordable. When you compare it to Mama Margies, Chachos, Los Palapas, etc… I ordered 3 breakfast tacos and a cup of tea. My total was under $ 6 after tax. For that price, their breakfast tacos out does the quantity and the quality of most corporate Mexican Restaurant food chains, hands down. The only small issue is that they can only sit 30 people. So if you go here on a weekend. It may take awhile to get a seat. In that case you can just order it to go. That’s if y’all are in a rush. I will definitely come here again.

Homemade corn tortillas but not flour? Tacos could be better, disappointed in the store bought tortillas. I’m all about supporting neighborhood restaurants but I probably won’t be returning here. Also be expected to wait at least 30min for bfast on a Saturday morning.

This is some of the best Mexican food I’ve had! We went for breakfast and we were blown away, it is authentic Mexican food. The service was excellent, waiters are so personable and attentive. It is a small restaurant and we had to wait a few minutes to get a table but it was well worth it.

Everything I ordered was cooked to perfection, on Fridays they have Italian day, but lately they haven’t had it, because of some big orders on Friday mornings, I’m looking forward to try there chicken Parmesan. If it is anything equal to there Mexican dishes, I’m sure it will be the best I have tasted!

DELICIOUS. My boyfriend and I went here for breakfast recently and we both agreed that it was awesome. I ordered one bacon and egg taco and one chorizo and potato. My boyfriend had the menudo(we didn’t see it on the menu, so you may need to ask for it) and a potato, bacon and egg taco. Our server Ramon was friendly and efficient. Our food came out quickly and tasted incredible. My boyfriend and I both agreed that their breakfast tacos are some of the best we’ve ever had. Their salsa verde was excellent as well. The tortillas were nicely toasted and it’s obvious that all of their ingredients are freshly made. My boyfriend said that the menudo was good and the tripe was cut into nice pieces, however he would have liked more flavor in the broth and more hominy. This restaurant is small and can probably only seat 20 people but the staff were very nice and the food was delicious. I wish we lived closer so I could eat here more often!

First time here. The service is friendly and quick. Family only had tacos, but they are real good. Tortillas are fresh, especially the corn. I believe the corn are homemade. We will be back soon to try a plate. However, the other guest plates look awesome.
