It was a nice cloudy Monday that brought me to the Dignowity Meats in the middle of Dignowity Hill. The Parking lot was full and the menu could clearly be seen from the parking spot that our car occupied. My stomach fell. It was about 12:45, the store front had opened at 11 that day, and they were already out of two of the sandwiches. The Pulled Pork and the Brisket Sandwich. The exact sandwich I had been craving. My mother and I stepped up the store front to order, and after my mother decided on a Reuben, I asked if I would be able to get the things that come on the Brisket Sandwich, but with the Pit Beef meat since the brisket was out. There was a very concrete«No.» That came from the back of the store. I have to admit, I was a bit offended, I just like what comes on the sandwich more, and that was what sounded the most appetizing. Was it my fault that you were out of two meats and hour and a half after you opened? I don’t think so. I think the chefs in the back could have easily prepared the same sandwich with a different meat, they just didn’t seem to want to deal with it. Moving on, I ordered the Pit Beef Sandwich, and my mother and I also got a cold pasta salad with arugula and B&B Pickles on the side. We took a seat, and had fun playing a little game of checkers, which is a super cool and fun plus that the store has. Checkers! Right there on your table! With bottle caps! Then the food was ready. I went to get the food, and saw that they had pretty good portions available. After grabbing the tray, I went to get utensils and napkins. Knifes. Spoons… no Forks… okay…I asked the store front worker if there were any extra forks, because they were out. She told me «oh no… that’s all we have.» Hard to believe a store runs out of forks. It kind of gave me the impression that whoever is ordering their supplies; needs to do a better job if they ran out of two types of meats and forks. Returning to the table, I tried my sandwich. Nice, juicy, good balance of meat and bread, not too much of one, not too much of the other. The sandwich was one point and super delicious. My mother’s was the same. The Reuben and the meat that Dignowity Meats serve are very delicious. They arent dry by any means of the words and they are very well balanced. The sauerkraut on the Reuben wasn’t overpowering at all, it added more of a texture and sutble flavor then anything too pugent. The salad was also very good. A cold salad with bowtie pasta, almonds, cranberries, and a light dressing. The only downside was having to eat it with a spoon. All in all, the food here is superb. It’s a great lunch spot, and you can enjoy it with your friends or get it to go. The service needs some help, you think you would order forks if you want to be a functioning lunch spot. For that reason, I gave it three stars. If they keep a better stock, and are more willing to just replace a meat for a different sandwich, they might get a better rating. But for now. That’s what it is.

Came here for dinner and the menu is very limited. They offer meats by pounds and the sides are separate. I got ¼lb of pulled pork with a side of Mac and cheese. The pork was good but had large pieces of fat in it. The Mac m cheese was homemade but just ok. We also tried the brisket ends and cream of corn. They both were good. Seating is all outside. They have more option for lunch but I haven’t been.

Tried a sandwich that has the Mac and cheese right in the sandwich!!! Saved me time and money. Divey little outside spot. Minus one star for being trendy without craft beer. Assured me the liquor license was in the mail. So give them another try soon. Yummy place.

First time at Dignowity, won’t be the last. Affordable and delicious are two of my favorite words and that describes DM! I tried the Burnt Tip Melt, Turkey Caprese and sides of Smoked Mac and Cheese with the Cream Corn Bake!

Had the burnt end melt and it was delicious. Burnt ends, Mac and cheese, and some apple slices between ciabatta bread. Also got some of their homemade pickle chips on the side. Food and service were both terrific. Prices are reasonable. Perfect place to eat on a nice 80 degree San Antonio winter day.

Great lunch spot near downtown! You arrive at want looks like a 1-man parked food truck spot, so there is no inside seating FYI. I devoured the burnt end melt sandwich which includes bacon Mac & Cheese and for a side I selected their spiced corn casserole and washed it down with a Mexican Coke. The overloaded coma induced sandwich was amazing and is not for anyone watching their figure but they do have other options like the Turkey capresse sandwich. No diggity No Dignowity

Not your ordinary barbecue place. I visited this establishment for the first time this summer when operating hours were only during lunch. So happy to see they are opened during the evening. Can’t wait to return to enjoy their burnt ends with a cold beer when they obtain their beer and wine permit.

This place is amazing! Food is great, service is great and so is the music! Very difficult to choose from the choices, but I got the reuben — one of the best I’ve had! Can’t wait for hubby to get home and we’ll go back for dinner one evening! Please get out and support this place — we need to keep them around!

Dude. GO. This is seriously the best grilled beast I’ve had in San Antonio to date. AWESOME. Really creative takes on sides(granny apple slaw, pasta and arugula salad… oh you *fancy*, meat slinger. I *like* fancy) and the options available for the manner in which you’d like your meat served are equally incredible. . The choice between a ginormous baked potato or a heap of Fritos add the base for your chosen meat?? And that base then has some killer mac n cheese layered on top of it before the meat goes on too? Stop yourselves. This place is my spirit animal.

The sandwiches were killer. My friend and me tried the burnt ends and the pastrami sandwich. I highly recommend this place if you’re down for some good comfort food.

Yaaas! So amazing. Burnt end sandwich was on point. We all ordered the same thing. Which turned out to be great cuz I wouldn’t have wanted to share. I highly recommend coming by if you’re in the area. I loved the outdoor seating area. The whole experience was seamless. Keep it up!

I showed up on a chilly evening for dinner and seeing that they only have outdoor seating, I took my food to-go. The atmosphere was pretty laid back. They’re currently BYOB while they wait on their liquor license. The food was delicious, as expected. I got the Dignowity loaded potato with brisket and it was on point. Also took a pint of cream corn which was a little on the spicy side but it was still perfectly sweet and creamy. I was a bit disappointed to hear they don’t do sandwiches on the dinner menu but overall I was totally pleased with my first experience. I’ll definitely be back as soon as I can!

Very surprised with their delicious little sandwiches and homemade sides. The burnt ends brisket sandwich is really tasty, and on some of the yummiest sourdough bread ever. I thoroughly enjoyed their cold pasta salad with feta and arugula. They’re located in kind of a random part of town, but definitely a gem. The guys working the counter and the grill were all very friendly and seemed cheerful. Outdoor seating only. Oh yeah, according to the gentleman on the phone that I spoke with, they are now open Monday-Saturday for dinner and semi-late-night hours, from 5pm-12am. Looking forward to going back soon, possibly even tonight! **Edit** We cruised by on Saturday night at 11pm and they were closed, so just a heads up. Not sure if I may have received some misinformation but either way, you should give them a visit some time soon! The sign mentions that they are open until 10pm FYI.

Two words: Burnt Ends. Killer sandwich, with a great pairing of flavors. My hats off to the Dignowity crew. I will be back to try more.

Huge fan here! Food is as good as it gets. I’ve been here enough times now to have tried everything on the menu. The burnt end melt is the stuff of dreams! Brisket + mac n cheese in between perfectly toasted bread… Get it! You really can’t go wrong with any of their sandwiches though. Each one is delicious in its own way. Park right in front or along the side streets. Order at the window.(NOTE: Show them your social media check-in on Mondays for FREE side. «Local heroes» –military, police, fire, etc. — also receive 10% discount every day of the week. Thank you for your support, guys!). Give name. Pay. Grab a seat. Listen for your name. These folks are quick and will get you back to work before your lunch hour is up. So do yourself a favor and swing by if you are anywhere within the vicinity M-F 11 – 3 Few minor gripes… 1) Limited hours I’ve told so many people about this place. But it’s hard for those who don’t live or work nearby to try it. 2) All outdoor seating. So dealing with flies, mosquitos & weather comes with the territory. Awning & huge fans help. My gripes are really, really, really minor though. I love the food. Service is top notch. Highly recommend!

Tough to eat at… only open during the week until late afternoon… we went on Memorial Day. Worth a visit! Very casual atmosphere: walk up to the window, order & pay, sit outside at a picnic table under the cover. Fans are set up so it was quite comfortable despite the humidity. I love their soda brand/choices…I couldn’t decide between Orange Cream or root beer so I got both. Orange Cream DEF the star! My salami sandwich was delicious! Toasted ciabatta, salumi, provolone, arugula… sadly, they were out of mozzarella so had to forgo that. A member or two of our party also had to forgo the turkey caprese due to no mozzarella. They offer 3 sides: Mac & cheese(meh, almost powdery tasting), cream corn(meh), & a pasta salad(yum! Bowtie pasta w/arugula & a few other good things. Simple, delicious.) The burnt ends sammich was messy but quite exceptional… mac & cheese on a sammich? I won’t turn it down ever since Dady introduced it to me at B&D. The chicken salad sammich was meh… I could make it at home, I feel, so I’d say order something else. Give it a try… support local business… east side revival, oh yeah!

Hot meats! This place has some awesome grub! They’ve got a wide variety of meats, from burnt ends, to briskets! I tried their homemade mustards and pickles, and was blown away by how much care and attention to detail went into the sides! Just imagine what the meats are like! I enjoyed the meats– they were all smoked to perfection. A little bit of spice makes these cuts perfect. They had a pastrami that was incredible. You must get that. I really enjoy the fact that they have cool micro-brewed sodas! My only beef with this place is that there’s no indoor seating. There’s some seats in the shade. They do offer bathrooms that are clean. The tables don’t look like they get wiped down regularly, but they’re picnic tables out in the sun.

So this updating thing — Kinda new to me but I dig it. So not only did I love the place on my second trip, I see the growth in establishment and the welcome acceptance of a a bunch of hungry folks venturing just outside of downtown. Sadly like a day after my last visit the joint got robbed, I promise it wasn’t me. Glad to see it didn’t break their stride one bit as they are still pushing out some great food and a growing fan base. Lastly I did just learn of this restaraunts affiliation of Taps y Tapas and the«Point» out I10, and I absolutely love it. All top notch staff and ownership . Much Love
