This place was okay. A lot of items I picked up from their shelves were super dusty. We tried the Apco chorizos. Those were very good. Everything else was just okay. I thought their tamales were pretty greasy. I don’t think I’ll be buying those again.

They need to take more pride in there food won’t be coming back. Waste of time and fuel for this they call themselves a meat market how about you show more pride in your meat

This place seems to be clean and the cashier was very friendly. But it was sad to say that the butcher/meat market attendant had no idea what fat ratio was their ground beef which is sad. Some of the meet was brown and old looking at some of the meet was really nice looking example steaks.

The Barbacoa Special is pretty damn special if you know what I mean. Get the«all meat» one for obvious reasons. This is really why we visit this establishment for this special and this special alone. The food was fresh & hot from when it was picked up and placed on my kitchen table. Between the meaty Barbacoa, the delicious homemade corn tortillas that melt in your mouth, and ohhhh those magical refried beans that I know they for a fact use good olé bacon grease to make those bad boys. Talking to someone who rarely drinks soda it’s a must to drink a glass or two of the Mexican red wine aka Big Red. That green jalisco salsa completes the meal so don’t even think to skip on the salsa. Finally I can say I am happy to live so close to one of these little breakfast heavens. Sunday Funday!

Tortilla made fresh all day long. If you want them warm let them know and they will package up a fresh warm dozen for you. On the weekends you can buy guacamole and green or red salsa. The green salsa is a little runny for my taste. They also have a produce department. I like the red Jalapeño peppers that are unique and not available at HEB. They are sweet and good for making homemade salsa. We have been know to get the Barbacoa tacos on Sunday– a familiy favorite. This is a unique Mexican market. I noticed they are constantly remodeling, adding items, changing for improvement. Good job Culebra.

bought 2 sirloin steaks at Tezel Rd store today, the steaks looked fresh very red, when I got home and removed them from the bag they seemed a littler slimey they did not smell bad, cooked them on the grill for at least 30 min and then in oven for another 20 min when we cut in to the steak is looked very rare, put in microwave to cook longer, result is still red. I know steak was cooked long enough. from what I read on line this seems to be some type of additive added or applied to the meat to keep It looking fresh. I will not be buying meat from them anymore

This is the best place for fresh meat. The prices are cheaper than what you would pay at HEB and Wal-mart. The meat is quality meat for a great low price! I enjoy stopping in and stocking up a cooler with meat when I visit my fiancé’s family. They have a huge variety of meats to choose from. They even have deals on certain packages of meat. Ladies I wouldn’t recommend dressing all pretty for this place. The butchers tend to eye you down. LoL! Other than that I like coming here to get fresh meat for a good low price. They even have a mini super market inside to get fresh produce. They also sell pan dulce and cakes.

Delightful place, meats and veggies are really good. The best bacon in San Antonio. But the true STAR is the little Taquiria in the store, Yes the best Barbacoa in town, fresh, fresh, fresh, on the weekend. But anything I have gotten there is amazing. Be prepared to stand in line and pray for a seat, and enjoy. The cook is amazing on the weekend. Not all Culebra Meat Markets are the same, this one and the one on Austin Hwy. I think are the same.

I have to agree with Melinda its a meat market why would vegetarians set foot in it. Culebra Meat Market has the best deal on barbacoa in town. On the weekends you can get you get a barbacoa meal for $ 7.99. You get 1 pound of barbacoa, 1 cup of refried beans, a dozen of flour and corn tortillas, cup of salsa, and if that’s not enough for you it also comes with a 2 liter of soda. I have to say that barbacoa always swims in grease. That being said Culebra Meat Market’s barbacoa is not greasiest I have had, and it tasted good. They do offer a trimmed down all meat version of their barbacoa. I don’t think it would be worth it, and is not part of the $ 7.99 special. I think that Culebra Meat Market’s offers the best deal on barbacoa in town, so I gave it 5 stars. There are several locations through out town so hit up Culebra Meat Market this weekend.

This is a great place to go for fresh meat. There are a lot of varieties and the prices are good. It’s kind of hard to understand what is going on in this place, is it a grocery store? A taco stand? A butcher? There are shelves of groceries, with a strong Mexican influence(as in grocery items from Mexico), but I’m not sure that they are trying to be a grocery store. There is only one register. Also, there is a taco area in the very center for you to order any kind of taco your heart desires. This particular store seemed a bit unorganized and the building seemed really old or something… there are cracks in the floor. Not for vegetarians, the smell of raw meat permeates the air.
