Do not hire CertaPro. There are so many other, better contractors to choose from who are half the cost or less. CertaPro came to our general contracting company looking to get into the commercial business. We agreed to give them a chance to prove themselves and evaluate their work before soliciting them for other projects. CertaPro of San Antonio, as franchised by Adam Reissner, has been the most incompetent company we’ve had the displeasure of doing business with. CertaPro, which gets its name from ‘Certify a Pro’ does not perform its own work. They subcontract it out to another company so you essentially are subcontracting to a subcontractor. Since Adam’s business is a franchise, this means you are paying profit to a large corporate company, to Adam’s local business and to a sub-tier contractor for a poor performance. This would be the same as you randomly hiring any contractor in a google search without referrals or recommendations to perform the work. So why pay triple profit for Adam to screw it up anyways? The only potential benefit of paying more, and to turn to someone like CertaPro, is the possibility of a large company standing behind a Guarantee or Warranty, however they have proven that they do not. Before you consider signing a contract with them, go on their website and see how difficult it is to find their warranty information. Since they came to us looking for work, and we gave them a chance to prove themselves, one would think they would give it their best on a test project? We had to make them re-do their work a couple of times until it was satisfactory if or when they decided to show up. After only several months, the drywall tape work they performed began to delaminate and peel away. After many attempts to get Adam or his staff to return our calls, he finally came out to review the issue and said he would send a crew to conduct the repair. It has again been several months of waiting and Adam has refused to return any of our calls. Contacting corporate and the district manager has been even more discerning. They said there is nothing they can do about it since it is up to Adam as the franchise owner. Now we are stuck with having to hire another contractor to repair CertaPro’s botched job. At least we know we’ll be better off than Adam’s random hiring of anyone off of the streets to perform the work. The other painters we’ve reviewed? Between a third to half the cost and the quality has been much, much better. The work from our other painters has been outstanding in comparison. With so many to select from, why would anyone hire this one-shot profit center? Even if one of our contractors were to under-perform, with the money saved, we’d be able to have the same work completed multiple times before we’d approach what Adam and his company charges.

First impressions can be deceiving. Isn’t customer service everything? I guess not. They didn’t do as they said they would and then the owner calls us unprofessional and not mature. So we want things done correct, its our house of course we do. Prep work was not done correctly and we had to fix many things after they left. I would not recommend this franchise of Certa Pro Painters.
