The new name is El Rodeo! Look for the monument sign on the north side of Culebra adjacent to an open field. Logo looks like a Lobster with dirty stache and sombrero! Awesome! Ambience: open seating, super casual, TV against the wall, smelled like bleach cleaner upon entry. Couple of tables outdoor that remind me of some restaurants I’ve been to on Central America. Complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is thin and not the chunky type. Chips were crunchy and not too salty. Ordered the small ceviche for $ 8.99. Nice portion with sliced avocado on top with side of chips. The ceviche had ample portions but was totally on the sweet side. I wish they put cilantro for more taste. Ordered an a la carte fish taco on corn tortilla. Fish was well sized but sadly lacked flavor. I drowned it in salsa for some resemblance of taste. It came with shredded vegetable medley. Best thing about the fish taco was the corn tortilla. Thick and heavy. Carne asada nachos plate was ok. Came with a side of guacamole. This dish has tortilla chips with pieces of asada meat and cheddar cheese on a bed of refried beans. They then place the entire plate in the oven to melt the cheese. It was boring and needed more flavor and pizzazz! Maybe a cheese medley and fresher ingredients like chopped tomatoes, cilantro and onions etc. I ordered a side of sour cream to kick it up a notch. The meat is good but everything else was forgettable. Bummer. Don’t get this unless you customize it. ProTip: no refills on anything except coffee and iced tea. Extra charge for takeout boxes if you can’t finish your food. Wack! Food was average and lacked flavor altogether. Dishes were fairly priced but forgettable. Extra charge for takeout boxes is a poor way to make more money but good way to lose customers. It’s like stepping over dollars to pick up pennies. Lack of fresh ingredients in what we ordered. I’d probably rather go to Chipotle for dinner. But the breakfast menu might bring me back. We’ll see…

Went there on a week day for lunch special. More Mex than Tex-Mex. good quality for the price. One taco and two enchiladas $ 7 plus taxes. The waitresses are house wife types, seem to pay attention to detail. The red and green sauces are refrigerated and fresh tasting. The bill says Taqueria El Jaliciense, 9775 Culebra road, but the signage on the restaurant reads Rodeo Tex-Mex. Seems they are all under the ownerships of the neighboring Taquerias.

When I wake up in the morning my first thought is usually«TACOS.» That’s why Amy’s Tex-Mex Café is one of my go-to places(and also why I’ve gained a few pounds in the last few months). While Amy’s has an entire menu of deliciousness, my usual is the special of the day. Written on a whiteboard as you enter the restaurant, this special comes with two tacos and a hot cup of coffee for 1.99. That’s right, 1.99. And if you’re feelin’ a little more hungry that day, you can order an entire plate that comes with a side of beans, potatoes, fresh tortillas and a cup of coffee for 2.99. Sold. The waitstaff is quick and always alert. My coffee cup is never empty and my order comes out in 5 minutes(tops). If you’re like me and go often enough, they might learn to stop bringing you a menu when you sit down. Embarrassing? Maybe. But at a steal like this, you could send me out in nothing but a poncho and strap a sombrero to my head and I’d *still* make it to breakfast. Worth it.
