Okay, you know virtually every person has something they hate about themselves right? Well, I do too. It’s my «body got stretched by babies» bump. I diet(eat rather well) I exercise, I hot yoga. Nothing. The rest of my body is getting toned and in better shape then ever, and yet still, the bump is there just taunting me. I scar easily and it takes years for a scar to heal on my body, so surgery is kind of out of the question for me. Finally about two years ago I read about a ‘revolutionary way to kill the fat’. No needles, no incision, no downtime, NOPAIN? WHAT? It’s called Zeltq, and was invented by Dieter Manstein of Harvard Medical School Department of Dermatology Boston, MA. You may know him as the Inventor, Fractional Photothermolysis(Fraxel™)(laser tattoo removal) Inventor, Cryolipolysis(Zeltiq™). Even still, there wasn’t a WHOLE lot of information out there about the procedure, so i waited. And waited. Found a place in my hometown that offered the procedure — so i went in for a free consultation. I definitely didn’t feel comfortable with the over-botox’ed staff and the doctor wasn’t even in on my visit. Then I read about Dr. Koneru in San Antonio — who’d been named the Best Plastic Surgeon several years in a row by Texas Monthly. I scheduled my consultation and appointment for two sessions(right half/left half of stomach) in two hours based on my consultation with Dr. K. Full results begin within two weeks and is «done» in about 4 months. I show up to my appointment excited about the future of my flat belly. The nurse takes a 360 shot of my stomach from all angles before we get started. Nurse says, «its gonna be a little uncomfortable for the first 2 – 3 minutes but it will get better». I have a pretty high pain threshold, so I dont even think I will flinch. Well apparently, a little uncomfortable means it HURTSLIKE F*CK. It’s freezing/burning and sucking your skin into a vacuum type apparatus. It’s not getting any better in 2, 5, 15, minutes, but finally, I get numb and used to the sensation. I EVENSTARTTODOZEOFF with the hum of the machine… Once removed, my skin looks red, and frozen into the shape of stick of butter. She massages it down which hurts worse — imagine a hard massage on frozen rugburn… She tells me I need to do this 5 times a day for 5 minutes for the next 5 days in order to break up the fat cells that were deteriorated. I CANNOT Imagine touching this skin… And now its onto another hour of torture on the other side of the stomach. Days 1 –7 Skin is numb on top, but I can feel the sore muscles underneath while i wince my way through the 5÷5÷5 massages. It’s SUPERSWOLLEN It hurts, I can’t feel my skin. It’s tight, and prickles/burns. I can only wear loose clothing because I am afraid of rubbing against the skin. Day 7 – 10. My swollen stomach returns to the regular bulgy stomach. The skin feels a little tighter and is itchy, but is still a little numb and tender to the touch. No, fat reduction according to the scale, but I am down two pounds. Nothing fits any better though. Well — I will continue to update this as time passes… Feel free to keep up with me.
