Went there for a late lunch. They were out of brisket but the food was amazing. Had the catfish and my boyfriend the smothered chicken — amazing. Not to mention their margaritas.

6th dinner we’ve had here in the last 3 years, and this was a completely unacceptable experience. Cold veggies, barely warm potatoes, and a filet that was tough and chewy, and just awful. We have had such great meals here in the past. What has happened to this place?

Prickly Pear Margarita! The food was good but the drink was fantastic! Service little slow…

This place was a pleasant surprise while visiting San Angelo. This was my second time at this restaurant, very good experience each time. Nice atmosphere good food, good service. The kids really enjoyed the fried Ores for desert.

Won’t go back. Not only is it overpriced for the quality of food served, the service was horrible. Gave two stars because they offered the whiskey I like, for no other reason. Had the Mahi-Mahi… Dry and yuck! Time to reevaluate your service and menu.

This is phenomenal place especially for the San Angelo area! Came today for wedding anniversary and the wine, appetizers, entrée and dessert were spot on! Definitely will be back!

Way over priced food and drinks. It is also misleading as a restaurant as it’s connected to a hotel. It’s a hotel restaurant which explains the over priced entrees.

The good: fantastic live music, good wings, and adequate waitstaff. The bad: super over-priced for the quality of food. The prickly pear margarita was so sweet, my boyfriend couldn’t even get it down. The spicy señorita was a bit better, but still too sweet for my taste. He had the spicy chicken alfredo– the chicken was dry and rubbery, the sauce was watery and bland. I had the chicken fried steak(because they were OUT of the pork loin). The gravy was old-tasting and the vegetables were tasteless and greasy. We will not be back.

My husband and I had dinner the other night. It was really good! I had the chicken alfredo, he had a fish filet with fries and beans. And we had an appetizer of fried alligator. The alligator was surprisingly really good, not something I’d ever eaten and I enjoyed it a lot! My pasta was delicious and the fish was well cooked and not too fishy which I loved. The price was a bit higher than I expected based on the fact that it felt like we could have ordered some greasy bar food from the same location.

Tl;dr: kind of high price offset by a quiet atmosphere and really awesome food. BSG is one of my favorites. Since I like to read at restaurants, this place gets high marks because it’s quiet. BSG mainly brings in an older, les rowdy crowd so it’s perfect for a quiet night out. I haven’t been disappointed with the food. The soups, appetizers and main courses are all amazing. The head chefs talent really shows and I always look for something new to try. Out of five or six visits, I’ve only had one so-so service experience. Basically didn’t get the sauce I asked for, which is NBD in a cosmic sense. Still, I was one of maybe five people in there. Definitely recommend.

The brisket nachos and bloody marys were pretty good. The bill was a bit much for what we ordered.

Surprisingly great experience! Enjoyed dinner in the bar area, served by a very knowledgeable bar tender who recommended excellent drinks and yummy food. Food presentation was nice, flavors were great, and service was prompt and attentive. Restaurant offers 10% military discount, so be sure to ask if you qualify.

Nice menu! We went for a Saturday lunch and sat on the patio. It was so nice outside and the patio seating is comfortable and the atmosphere is really nice as well. We will be coming back for sure!

I dropped by last night for dinner and sat at the bar. Houston id a really nice bartender. Suggested a couple of his personal favorites when he brought me my Texas Lemonade, which was really good. I ordered the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin, which Houston DID suggest, and I wasn’t disappointed. It was juicy and the sauce was tasty. Oh and Ice cream enchiladas. That is all.

Good food great staff, in staying here at the clarion for work and decided to try out the black sheep café which is part of the hotel. I had the black sheep burger with the hand cut fries… DELISH! HUGE potion too, and the smoked ketchup(bbq sauce ketchup) was a nice touch to go with the fries. Burger was ginormous, about an inch thick and spans 5 inches in diameter. Staff is very friendly and doesn’t constantly check on you which I find annoying. They even asked if I wanted a bottle water to take with me. If you’re looking for a juicy texas sized burger this is the place to try. Definitely will visit again and recommend!

Update to my review… The servers name was Brian. I know this because a friend invited us the night after for a surprise birthday dinner at Black sheep and we returned. Brian not Jason was his name and he was just as awesome the second day as the first. Haha Bön appetite

I’ve eaten here twice and had great food both times. The first time there was a problem with someone’s entrée in our party. The manager came over, apologized and give our table 2 free desserts… so they still get 5 stars. My second experience here was with my family. My kiddos pronounced it a «eat here again» place, as they liked the burgers.

Wow. amazing burger, salad and seafood. I was told that the lamb was quite good too. Say hi to Houston at the Bar and get ready for Texas sized portions. …check out the desserts also! I highly suggest this place and lunch has a nicely prices. Super close to downtown San Angelo.

Great, relaxed atmosphere for lunch. I had a classic burger and it was one of the best burgers I’ve had in San Angelo, it was juicy and not over seasoned or over cooked like many others. The brisket nachos were pretty good as well, loaded with brisket, guac, sour cream, cheese and fresh jalapeños. The prickly pear margarita was delicious but a little too sweet for me. I also tried the spicy señorita which was amazing, with a good jalapeño spice and bite.

I have gone to The Black Sheep twice for lunch and dinner. It is a new restaurant in town and usually you’d see kinks that needed to be worked out in following months but we got our food within 10 minutes. Servers were all extremely nice. Place is modern and beautifully decorated. CLEAN as well. For lunch I had the chicken sandwich and dinner was brisket nachos. BESTNACHOSEVER. Huge portions. My boyfriend ordered the HUUUUUGE burger and he liked it. Chef Stan Mcdonald literally went to every table and made sure food was good which was really nice to see. A lady next to us ordered their specialty drink the prickly pear margarita and she said was the best shes had so im excited to go back again! there is also a bar area which has nice flat screen TVs all around. Patio wasn’t open but cant wait for it too! Its a great place to go relax!
