This review pertains to my experience with proctored testing at this center. I am studying online from BYU, and as part of the course, I need to take 3 proctored exams. Since this center is conveniently located, I decided to contact them. 1. The person I spoke to was courteous, and told me that they take a fee of $ 95 that covers 4 exams. I said I have only 3 exams, do they pro-rate it? Answer: No. I thought that’s OK(bad decision!). So I took my first exam in Oct’ 14. I paid the $ 95. 2. It was time to take up my second exam in December. I left them a message. The guy replied saying I could go ahead and have BYU send them the exam. Upon calling BYU, I was told that this center is no longer a registered testing center for college level exams and that Sylvan ought to have informed me well in advance! Great! 3. I called up Sylvan again with this concern. Nobody called me back, and I was getting jittery(obviously!) and so just went directly to the center to talk to the guy to give me back my money(at least part of it). I was prepared with a nice speech to give him if he was rude to me! ;) Well, he was polite enough, and said that he would call me back after talking to his«boss.» 4. He did call me back the next day and left me a message saying that their fee is a flat fee, and they will not give me a refund. PERIOD! I was mad and disappointed, but well, that’s that– $ 95 bucks down the drain! I finally took my exam after the holidays at Bellevue College, a much more professional place. Their policy is $ 35 per exam. WAY better than Sylvan’s whole«flat fee» tactic. Lesson Learned: I am never going back to Sylvan to take any more exams, nor will I be sending my kids there!
