Very good, laid back atmosphere with refined, chic cuisine. I had the gorgonzola pasta with duck. It was rich and heavy, cut with the crispy, salty duck. Definitely will return!

Second visit today, can’t wait for #3. What a wonderful experience. Start with a nice greeting and a warm, clean & eclectic space. Nice cup of tea, yummy house made soup and delicious«small» plate of grilled polenta cakes. Fresh, friendly and a step out of ordinary Utah fair. Both of us felt nourished and healthy after lunch and so glad it made an weekday feel like Sunday. After Reading Toby’s review, I plan on adding .40 cents in his honor to every bill. Thanks for the suggestion Toby.

I took my wife and some friends to Tin Angel on a whim after lots of indecision about where to enjoy our anniversary dinner. I am so glad I stumbled upon Tin Angel. What a treat! I loved the intimate atmosphere and friendly staff and they provided us with just the experience we were hoping for… I was on the lookout for good food that wasn’t ridiculously expensive but would provide an intimate and novel setting with good food. From the friendly staff to the intimate setting to the delicious food, Tin Angel delivered. My main dish was the pasta special for that day and while I enjoyed it, the real treats were the tapas, small plates and desserts. I was so impressed with my tapas(moroccan shrimp, espresso encrusted steak with gorgonzola, and fresh clam chowder) that I had to try their dessert. I’m very wary about inviting friends out to eat at a new place, but I took a gamble with Tin Angel and the result was discovering a new favorite. We’ll be back for sure.

Located across the street from a city park, this cozy little restaurant features outdoor seating and creative menu items. Our host seemed a little grumpy that we arrived 20 minutes before closing time, but our flight didn’t land until 9 and we really wanted to try this place for dinner. We were seated no problem, and our server was very nice. I wasn’t looking for a heavy meal, so the tapas menu really fit the bill. The delicious little bites were artfully presented on a rectangular tray — great food photo op. Everything tasted as good as it looked, especially the espresso crusted beef tenderloin and the shrimp, not to mention the scrumptious beef slider. We enjoyed the first round of tapas so much, we ordered an extra trio of Moroccan spiced shrimp for our table to share. I loved the charred, spicy flavor of these shrimp. Tin Angel has a small selection of 22 oz bottles of local beer, great for sharing. The pasta menu also looked yummy, although I didn’t have room to try any of these dishes. Maybe next visit!

This is now my favorite restaurant in Salt Lake City. Apprehensive about the location and the initial appearance, I had been intrigued by the menu on Unilocal. My wife was not with me, so I stepped into the adventure. Since«Bohemian» also refers to informal, unconventional, and nonconformist and free spirited, that is the term which comes to mind in connection with this dinning experience. I just wished I could have tried more items on the menu. Since I have a good appetite, I was able to have the three tapas platter with Speck Wrapped Shrimp, Gypsy Pork Empanada and Moroccan Spiced Shrimp. They were all so perfect! I wished I could have tried all the Tin Angel Café’ had to offer. I forgot to take a picture until nearly done, so did not post it, since it looked pretty decimated, my having devoured every speck of edible accoutrement on the plate. I had already started on the water, of which I consume a great deal, a lemonade and a Kidtini, which is the best mocktini! My next course was the special soup of the day, a fresh asparagus soup with a hint of some hot oil. I mention this because both my wife and I lament the excessive use of heat in EVERYTHING today. It was perfect in this case. Next was the Arugula and Slice Beets salad. It is the most perfect beet salad in my experience. Thin sliced beets with Balsamic Reduction and EVO drizzle! included a surprising collection of beat chips which worked beautifully. I had unfounded concerns that the goat cheese might be too strong, but the preparation and portions perfected the salad with just the right zip. I ate all the Arugula too Mom! I chose the Lamb Strip Loin(barely over the Wild Boar) and the entire assembly was delightfully cooked as requested. I finished up(after a second Kidtini… good thing I was walking) with the Pear and caramel brûlée tart. That sounds not only like a mouthful, but a potential sensory overload. I make brûlée myself, so consider myself discerning. I also make pear galettes, and do not generally prefer the usual tart shell one gets in a commercial environment. This dessert was to die for. I am hereby giving my notice now that I am stealing the idea. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. I had one of the best solo eating experiences, who knew, in Salt Lake City. I hope this is credible coming from someone living and eating in the San Francisco, Berkeley and Oakland restaurant scene.

Love this unique café! Have included as one of our evening dinners when in town to ski the past couple of years. It is within walking distance of our hotel. The food is soo delish and accommodates a vegan/paleo type diet which is hard to find. It is a gem. See you next year Tin Angel!

Let’s be real. I ordered the duck tacos which seemed like a great choice but was let down. Turned out to be rather ordinary. The duck meat was ok, shredded nicely, but not a «bowl over» deal. I always compare their cooking to my cooking and in this case it’s sub par. My steak tacos kick their miserable ass. $ 3.50 for one little duck meat taco wasn’t worth it. Crispy tortillas were good, but there should be a decent base of meat, beans, cabbage/lettuce mix, sour cream, cilantro then fresh made salsa on top. This is how you do it guys. And by the way, do not charge me an extra 40 cents on my bill. No class assholes!

This is a gem in SLC. Love the art, people are just too friendly and food is refreshingly delicious just like there theme and art. Also, this place caters well to vegans and vegetarians, My wife loved her food and i did not have to be a vegan for the day :). I would go back here in a heart beat. Our host was very friendly, patient and made some great suggestions. The service was pretty fast too. Mimosa and Bloody mary both were tasty nothing exceptional. Roasted Garlic hummus and Roasted cauliflower and chickpeas — both of these dishes were very good, especially the toasted bread it comes with. Ciabatta lamb — I love lamb and our host insisted i should try there lamb ciabatta. I do not regret it, it was bomb.

Delicious! I went here for lunch today. They have a small parking lot in the back but at 12:15 I was able to find a spot. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the roasted lamb on ciabatta with pesto and feta. Holy snap! It was incredible. The meat was very tender and had lots of great flavor. It came with a side salad that wasn’t much to write home about, but was a nice side complement to the sandwich. We had great service and we were able to get in and out in less than an hour with 5 people. Great lunch option for the area and I can’t want to go back!

Favorite restaurant in SLC… Menu is varied and delicious, service great and the dining rooms interesting. We found Tin Angel many years ago and have never been disappointed… The menu stays fresh and delicious. We love the tapas options because it enables us to sample more dishes

Up-to-the-minute cuisine served in a setting that felt like someone’s home. What set Tin Angel apart from other contemporary restaurants was how diners could construct meals in the usual appetizer and entrée paradigm; or with tapas, discounted when ordered in multiples; or with appetizers(ditto on the mulit-plate discount); or a solid selection of entrée-sized salads to provide a custom-fit to budgets and appetites. The stars for us were the salads. I had the Utah smoked trout with cucumber dressing, $ 16.5. My companion had arugula with dried Italian-style beef Carpaccio, $ 13. We shared an appetizer of grilled Brussels sprouts, $ 6.5, with onions, a creamy cheese, and toasted, torn baguette pieces. I drank a glass of an Italian Pemonte Barbera for $ 7. The cocktail and wine menus were thoughtful, generous, and fairly-priced(01÷28÷16). TIP — Reservations seem prudent. BONUS — good décor. SHOUTOUT to Ashley, a great hostess SHOUTOUT to Melissa, great server

I went with a work group of around 10 people on a Tuesday evening. It is a decent place to dine. The waitress was real good. However the food service was super slow. We got there around 6:30 pm. We did not order appetizers, straight to the main courses. We ate dessert. We did not leave until 8:45. The food was decent — average. Not a big fan of their craft sodas either.

Yummy in my tummy! Although a bit slow with service, the food is so delicious and it’s actually worth the wait! This tiny café has two separate dining rooms and with our large group, we sat outside, which I personally think is better than being inside. There are heaters angled from the ceiling and will keep you nice and toasty since searing is close to the windows. I ordered the espresso encrusted beef tenderloin(tapas) and that little bite was delicious! Blue cheese on top of beef is always a party in my mouth. The calamari calabrese is ok. The crunchy baguette was yummy but there was a bit too much olive oil on the plate. I wasn’t sure how to eat it so I dipped it in the little soup and it was pretty good! The calamari soup has a bit of an acid taste like lemon in it but there’s no lemon. And everyone knows I love me some lemons! The last was the Pato tacos. Yum! Although a small plate, I smashed them bad boys in like 2 bites. Chomp chomp. Done! The duck was pretty tender and it didn’t taste gamey! Mm best part! Drinks were decent. Ordered the gin angel which has a nice surprise at the bottom with dried blueberries. The bloody angel was ehhh… I was hoping to be blown away but it didn’t happen. I wanted more pickled veggies in it and a bit more spice/heat in it. Overall, great food, friendly staff, but very slow service. Would I come back? Oh yea!

The service was absolutely amazing. I called a few days before we came in to let them know that I’ve got some allergies(gluten, dairy, and soy), and they assured me they could come up with something for me. For small plates/tapas, we ordered the spiced cauliflower and chickpeas, which was delicious, and I was so pleased that they brought out a bread that I could eat that had been lightly toasted with olive oil in place of the regular bread. My husband also ordered a side of bread and oil and vinegar, and he honestly ate the entire loaf by himself. He said it’s his favorite bread. He also the pork empanada, and he loved it. I have to admit that $ 5 seems a little expensive for something that he could eat in two or three bites, but that might just be my grad student budget speaking. My husband got some kind of pasta dish with steak for the entrée, and he absolutely loved it. They made me a delicious seasoned chicken breast with roasted broccolini and fingerling potatoes alongside some kind of delicious mushroom sauce. It was all delicious, we left too full, and the service was absolutely top-notch. We’ll be back!

Good food, friendly service in an awesome atmosphere. So many good things on(and off!) the menu that it was hard to decide what to eat. On the particular day we went they weren’t perfectly on their game(it was right after the holiday, one order got messed up and the breakfast potatoes were somewhat undercooked to some in our party), but they did enough right that I’m sure I’ll be back to give them another try!

Call ahead of time for big groups. Our group was seated in a large semi-private room that was perfect for us. Being such a small establishment didn’t stop them from having a wide variety of food options. I had the split pea soup and balsamic Green’s salad, they were both amazing, but my favorite was the appetizer, mahi mahi cakes. Best cakes ever. I will be back just for those.

Went here for the Dine-O-Round special and wish I’d done as some of the other reviewers did and ignored it for the rest of the menu. Why didn’t I try the Cuban Panini? Alas, I settled. The pulled pork sandwich was meager and good but not great. The choices of sides were also underwhelming — store-bought Terra vegetable chips, or a really bland potato salad. I went with the potato and my take was: Did anyone even taste it? Just a little more salt in it at least, please! I thought at least the dessert would redeem it — a chocolate almond torte. It was a teeny tiny sliver and completely dry. If I didn’t know better, I’d think it was made a week prior. This was a great opportunity for Tin Angel to wow me into coming back, but instead I left disappointed. I wish they would have featured something on their normal menu to really entice me to return. I loved the restaurant — it’s eclectic and casual and hip and fun. We sat in the covered patio area and it was lovely. Even though it was a hot day it was nice and cool. The server was amazing and so friendly and they were great with my toddler who I had to bring along — a nice $ 5 kid’s menu and a coloring sheet for her. The parking can be tricky and a little sketchy unless you can get one of the handful of spots in their lot. Saturdays in the summer are crazy with the farmer’s market across the street. Tin Angel, I was really looking forward to you and loved your service and ambiance, and I bet you have great food on your menu, but I probably won’t be back.

Originally came here for the dine-o-round but the menu wasn’t too exciting(pulled pork sandwich) so we just ordered off of their original menu. It was a Saturday around brunch so they offered their brunch and lunch menu. I ordered their trout and eggs and it was so delicious! Everything was cooked well and seasoned. Their potatoes was the perfect addition to cut the richness of the sauce and eggs. I would come back just for this dish. I also ordered a Bloody Mary which was awesome(also I guess there was a happy hour going on because my Bloody Mary was less then what it said on the menu). We also tried their turkey pear panini and it was great as well. Such a simple sandwich but with all the right pairings made it delicious. The pear was so refreshing that it just added that extra layer. To top everything off, we ordered a pear brûlée which again did not disappoint. It was so tasty that we are the whole thing even though we were stuffed. I have to say, we will be back for sure!

What a wonderfully funky dinner spot with a unique menu that’s creative cuisine nouveau at its quirkiest. I got two«small plate» appetizers of Spiced Almonds, Gorgonzola & Pear and a Grilled Brussels Sprouts. They were all amazing and only twelve bucks. My entrée was a Porcine Mushroom Risotto which was slow cooked Arborio Rice and Crimini Mushrooms. It was fabulous but next time I’m trying the Vegetable Timbal(cauliflower, yellow beets, tahini and spices wrapped in Swiss chard to form the shape of a drum) then topped with baby veges and a quinoa pilaf! They’re known for their award winning Bread Pudding and it does NOT disappoint!

Food and service were exceptional. Many gluten-free options on the menu. Great variety, inventive dishes. The Wildboar stew was delicious with lots of meat and great flavors. I subbed horseradish cauliflower mashers for the polenta. Great combo. The ambience was awesome, the outdoor patio was a lovely option for a beautiful evening. It was a comfortable place to dine alone although I would’ve enjoyed being with a larger group so I could’ve tried more items on the menu.

You know when Jack and Jill invite you to dinner, but you say no because you’ve already suffered from«Third-Wheel Syndrome» enough? Well, Third Wheelers, bring out the tricycle because the Tin Angel Café makes putting up with Third«Wheel» Problems worth it. The couple could have gone on their own and had a romantic date night all to themselves. There was live music and a great cozy ambience from outdoor lighting that set the mood. I’d be pretty impressed if a man took me out to Tin Angel, but then again, I’d be pretty impressed if a man took me out at all… Eh-hem. Moving away from my «Why Am I Single?» cries of help and continuing on this review… The couple did not do wrong in inviting me as a third wheel because, one, I’m awesome. Two, the more wheels at the table, the more tapas there will be to try! We ended up ordering a bunch of tapas and splitting everything. It’s great having more people around because you can order more food!(Duh!) We ordered one entre(Mushroom Risotto) and 5 tapas and were flirting with food coma by the end of our meal. My only regret is not saving room for dessert! It looked amazing, but we had to pass. What also troubles me is that I don’t know what dish I would give up in order to have the dessert. Why must we be faced with such decisions in this life? Hopefully by the next time I visit, I will know the answer… because i’m ordering a dessert whether i’m full or not!

My Besty took me here for my birthday dinner after so many attempts to eat here of it being packed and always needing reservations. I ordered the«Wild boar stew» it came served over soft polenta, full of homemade flavors! My friend ordered«Spinach soup and Almond squash soup»(she’s not a big eater lol) I did have a taste and I can really say it was quite mouthwatering! I liked it. For dessert I had the«pear and Carmel tart brûlée» that was a melt in my mouth experience. I highly recommend this place but make a reservation because it seems to not bee a drop in type restaurant so that’s why I only did 4stars. The décor is entertaining, I felt like I was in a cute little bake shop in a small European village.

I’ve made it a point to dine in this restaurant every time I’ve been in SLC since I discovered it a few years back. The menu is on the small side, but all the dishes are thoughtfully made and delicious! I’ve never been disappointed. Not only is the food great, but the atmosphere is exceptional, artistic, and somewhat alternative(just the way I like it). The staff is friendly and helpful. One of my favorites.

I loved this place! The menu is unique and thoughtful. It’s smallish, which, at least in this case, is a sign of attentiveness to detail and concern for quality. And yet, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re vegan, GF, paleo, or just plain picky, you’ll find something that suits your fancy. The menu was only outdone by the wait staff. They were full of suggestions, after, of course, they asked about my dietary needs. They were helpful in selecting everything from drinks to dessert. I declined the latter, but only because everything leading up to that point– the curried cauliflower & chickpeas, the entrée, melt-in-your-mouth trout, and the delicious wine-had me full to the brim! Needless to say, I’ll be back! I loved everything from the non-presumptive atmosphere to the location to the exceptional cuisine to the people. What a delightful find! Treat yourself and give the Tin Angel a try! You won’t be disappointed!
