I don’t know what these dudes are saying but this place is legit! Great food, great atmosphere! A regular burrito is HUGE! You get more then your money’s worth with this place! Top food for me: Burrito Texano, Carne Asada fries(SOOOOGOOD!), Adobe plate(they load you with food)! Out of all the Racheritos, Betos, and Alberto’s this is the best one of all! Nothing fancy, just good food, with traditional Mexican music playing from the kitchen! The spot to be! I come here all the time! Take my word for it! You won’t regret it! ;)

I’ve been eating at this little place through all its various name and ownership changes. It’s basically been the same type of taco shop for the past 10+ years, albeit with different names. It’s now a Rancherito’s, which is a chain of taco shops. It’s always been good and the menu hasn’t changed much over the years. Their carne asada is always fresh and delicious, as are their other dishes. I’ve never had a bad meal here and I love their tasty Mexican fare. Yumma!

So, this place thus far has been: A Taco Time A Gringo’s An Alberto’s A Betos’ Whatever it is now. When it was the Taco Time(and Gringo’s), the food was obviously far different. When it was Taco Time has also been when it was best and it has steadily(and rapidly) cascaded downward since. In fact, each subsequent name change has deteriorated it further. It is also considerably more run-down. What it is now is like the prior two predecessors, that sort of Molcasalsa style of restaurant that offers mediocre beans, rice that’s not worth the bother, a few tortillas warmed and folded up and not exactly prime cuts of whatever meat you choose(carne asada, carnitas, etc.). They also have chile rellenos, which are barely worth the bother with Alberto’s and borderline disgusting with everyone else. In fact, all of the food would fit into that comparison, actually. The fish tacos here are rather sloppy and nasty things, no fit competition for Rubio’s at all, not even a bit. You can also skip the plates(which used to be decently priced and are inching upwards into clearly not being worth the money) and just get it in a burrito, but a strong word of advice there. Just ask for meat and cheese and add your own sauce. You can thank me later. The sauce is maybe around La Frontera’s, only runnier and not faced with the inconsistency. Here, it is always one the lower end of things. You may as well be prepared for gastrointestinal distress if you risk going here, but if there was nothing else open late at night and it happened to be open, maybe worth the risk. Just hope that you get more chunks of meat than fat and gristle if you do and remember it is cheap, in every possible way.

This is my husband’s favorite Mexican place. I’ve heard a lot of people say they hate this place but, I don’t mind the food. I think wherever there are locals making their own kind of food, it should be good. However, I can’t eat a lot of their food cuz then it’s not good news in the morning! ;) Weak stomachs need not apply! For real!
