Finally tracked down Off The Grid at food truck Thursday at Gallivan Plaza. We were not disappointed! We ordered three half sized waffles sandwiches and loved all three of the flavors we got, though our personal favorite was the sweet chili pulled pork. I really loved the smashed potatoes that had a great basil flavor and I’ve tried to replicate them at home many times since then. This is definitely one of our favorite trucks in Salt Lake City and I can’t wait to try out more from their creative menu!

I love a good grilled cheese. How does one make a grilled cheese even better? Put it on a waffle! The Bees Knees will always have my heart. A parmesan encrusted waffle stuffed with Beehive Cheese’s Barely Buzzed and fresh basil with a drizzle of honey… oh my. If you want to get really crazy, try adding pork to it. They used to have set sandwiches one their menu but recently changed the layout. I’m guessing a lot of people like me were asking for change ups so I like the new menu. Pick a protein, sauce, etc. If a waffle isn’t your thing(we can’t be friends), give the tacos a try. I love that the chipotle is actually spicy! I love this place so much that when I was working at WGU, I got them to start coming for lunch regularly. It’s one of the biggest things I miss about not working there anymore.

Finally had a chance to try the creativity that is Off the Grid SLC food truck. I had the Bees Knees — a grilled cheese on honey waffles with Parmesan and I added honey pork to mine. It was delicious and I will definatley seek out this food truck again. The reason for only 4 stars is my dad ordered the blue corn tacos and the tacos fell completely apart and there were no forks available. Good but a very messy endeavor.

I wasn’t too impressed with the truck today. I got the kickin’ chicken. The waffle was old and soggy, and the chicken seemed like it came out of a frozen dinner. I can’t imagine I’ll go back; it’s just not worth the effort to find a truck for mediocre food. Maybe if I’m hungry and happen across it I’ll stop by and get something other than the chicken, but I won’t be making any special trips for it.

I got the kickin chicken and loved it. The sauce is the best and its was very filling. I want to try the buffalo next time but I’m sure everything from this truck is tasty!

Unilocal said the places closes at 1pm their web site said they close at 2pm. Not sure why the discrepancy but they said they close at 1pm so they stayed a little later just to serve us. I ordered the Pork & Waffles the bbq sauce was really on the sweet side. Also ordered the Kickin’ Chicken that was very delicious, the chicken was a bit dry but the spicy aioli was a perfect combinations on the waffles. Also ordered the Buffalo Blue it was loaded with flavor, it had sauce dripping all over me and was very messy. If it wasn’t for the dry chicken this would have been awesome. Next time I want to try the Chipotle Tacos and the Bee’s cheese.

I guess this isn’t a truely fair review of this food truck, because I’ve only ordered one thing and thats all I get from them. But I get it every. single. week. The buffalo blue… on a WAFFLE. I had this as a wrap the first time and I have to agree with some other Unilocalers, it wasn’t anything special. Good taste, fresh ingredients, but just another wrap. But get it on a waffle and WOW, now you’ve got something special. A little sweet, a little tangy, a little savory… aka a flavor explosion. I do usually ask them to add a little extra buffalo sauce for more kick. They do have a punch card, and I’m a sucker for those. But the buffalo blue on a waffle with boulder canyon chips(salt and malt vinegar to be precise) comes to $ 8 every time. Oh, and I gotta mention their weekly special giveaway contest thing. I’ve never participated because I don’t have all the social media apps required, but the general gist is that every Thursday at Gallivan, they make five creative sandwhiches that are not on the menu for five lucky winners… for FREE. The caveat is that you have to post it all over social media or something. Not 100% sure on the details but it’s super fun and creative. Plus, who doesn’t love free food???

I just had the chipotle tacos and they were phenomenal! The service was fast and they were really friendly! There were several items on the menu I’d love to go back and try.

I had the Bleu Buffalo Chicken wrap, and it was fine, but nothing great. It seemed like high quality chicken and Bleu cheese, but the flavor wasn’t there. I’d describe it as a basic mediocre buffalo chicken wrap.

I just happened to be biking past the truck while looking for a place to eat so I decided to stop. Had the Buffalo Blue wrap… Amazing! I love the idea of putting some chopped up celery inside. Reminds me of eating some actual wings. Have not had any of the other sandwiches/wraps yet but everything else on the menu sounded very delicious. Looking forward to going back. Also grab a punch card for a free sandwich.(If you ride your bike they give you 2 punches!)

I literally just got done eating my food and I can’t get over how great it was. I got the kicken chicken waffle sandwich with the smashed potatoes. Probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever placed into my mouth. I’ll be dreaming of this meal until we meet again. Can y’all cater my future wedding?

So delicious and innovative. I am lucky enough to work downtown in walking distance from Food Truck Thursday at Galivan plaza where Off the Grid SLC makes a weekly appearance. The staff is super friendly and quick. The menu is diverse enough to find something you want, but not so large that you have to spend a significant amount of time looking it over. I was one of the fortunate few who got in on an underground special of a buffalo chicken sandwich with avocado dressing, blue cheese crumbles, red peppers and dill, all squished between two waffles made of parmasean cheese encrusted mac and cheese waffles. Hopefully this item will make it on the menu regularly as it was one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth.

Amazing Kickin’ Chicken! I wasn’t sure how the grilled chicken and waffle would work since I’ve had the traditional chicken(fried) and waffles in other places. Surprisingly, this combo turned out great! I’ll try them again when they’re around my workplace.

My kids and I happened upon this food truck after a morning at Red Butte Gardens when it was parked outside the natural history museum. We decided to give it a try and boy were we glad we did. The menu is small but excellent. We tried the grilled cheese(tasty Parmesan-crusted waffles… who would’ve thought!), the sausage and egg waffle sandwich, and the buffalo chicken flat bread sandwich, all with smashed potatoes on the side. Everything was delicious! The guys who run the truck are super friendly and I appreciate their use of local ingredients. Definitely give these guys a try if you find them!

So there’s another waffle«truck» making it’s mark on the ol’ SLC in some circles, but for me Off the Grid is where it’s at. The waffles are made at a good thickness, but with all the delicious softness inside. The menu is diverse and delicious, with simple toppings such as maple syrup or apples, to the main event such as the Grilled Cheese featuring cheddar, Beehive Barely Buzzed(one of my favourites), and sweet basil ricotta melted between two parmesan waffles. I know, right? Damn it was good, and with the added options of slapping on some Sausage, Ham, or Tofu it’s a go-to for brunch, lunch, or anything-er. The thing about OTG is they keep the tastes simple, the toppings at a right ratio to waffle, and there really is something for everyone. Please keep a look out for these guys, and make sure to try everything on their delicious menu.

Posted up right outside the Tavernacle, cool design and waffle concept. The $ 3 waffle is clutch to soak up the Friday night libations and the grilled cheese may be the best thing I’ve ever had. Just the right amount of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The truck has a baller design and the guys inside are hilarious. Not to be missed.

Legit waffle makers. I headed out to the Tavernacle last night and scored some seriously delicious waffles. I had the Blueberry Hazelnut Waffles as well as the Waffles and Gravy with an over easy egg. The blueberries were fresh, the waffles were thick, crispy. They almost tasted like they had a glaze or something on top. The waffles and gravy is a great idea. The gravy was nice and thick, the waffles crisp and crunchy. It was rather delicious. Amazing place. I will definitely be heading out there again to try the WTA(Waffle, Turkey, Avacado)

Found this food truck at the 21st&21st art fair today. Waffles and French press coffee to go! It was so awesome. The guys running the truck are super friendly and apparently today was their first day! I ordered the waffles and gravy with an over easy egg and a coffee. Both were fantastic. The coffee is so cool because it’s your own little French press to go cup! My friend had the TSA sandwich which se was also raving about. These guys said they’ll be working the late night bar crowds in SLC, so I’m sure they’ll be turning a lot of people into happy drunks in the future!
