This is my first time eating Hawaiian food in SLC and I am sorry to say it was not very good at all. The menu is extremely limited. If you are wanting something that is just fast food than this is the place for you. If you want true Hawaiian food this is not the place for you. I got chicken katsu which is the most ordinary Hawaiian dish I think there is except for maybe loco moco(which they didn’t even have) and although the chicken cutlet was cooked well the sauce that came with it just tasted like ketchup. The mac salad was also nothing to write home to mom about. My boyfriend also go the katsu but he also go the steak which was not bad but alittle chewy. They also had no options for Hawaiian desserts such as haupia or malasada. I just recently moved here so when I looked at Unilocal hoping to find a good Hawaiian restaurant and seeing that there where only a few of them we picked the one that had one of the best reviews but unfortunately it was rather disappointing. I guess I was lucky to live in city that had great hawaiian food before moving here. So I will be on the hunt to find a better Hawaiian restaurant.

Ric, our Marketing manager from Hawaii recommended me this place a while back. I havent gotten the chance to visit the place until today. And boy… I was glad I did. The place was packed which was a good sign. Ordered their regular size Teriyaki Chicken. Dont let the regular size fool you. It was quite the big serving. My taste buds went screaming! The chicken was so tender, perfectly grilled with a hint of char. It was near perfection. How else is this flavor frenzy of goodness in my mouth gonna get better? THEMACARONISALAD ! Holy foshizzle… Best mac salad of all Hawaiian joints Ive been to in Utah. I think found my favorite spot for teriyaki chicken!

While I don’t have too much too compare this too, this Hawaiian BBQ was much better than the highly rated Hawaiian BBQ place in Denver. I got the chicken and beef combo plate which was a ton of food in addition to the side and macaroni salad. The sauce really sold me as it added a great sweet flavor to the already seasoned chicken and beef. I will certainly go back!

I must say this. Very good BBQ Teriyaki chicken! I fell in love after the first bite. Tender with smokey BBQ flavor and crunchy bark burnt bits smothered with sweet teriyaki sauce make an all-around incredible bite. Just.pure.bliss. I also tried the Pulehus Chicken but while it is still tasty, it is pale in comparison to the Teriyaki. A regular plate(about 10 bucks) also consists of 2 scoops of rice, which you can choose white or brown, and one scoop of macaroni salad. The overall serving is huge. I must remember to just order a mini plate(about 7 bucks) next time. The restaurant was cold when we were there, and the lady at the counter suggested we sit at the small side room which was a lot warmer. I am not sure if there was something wrong with the heater or they just wanted to save on gas. I will definitely come again to eat more Teriyakis, or perhaps try on steaks and shrimps. I totally recommend this place for a quick, delicious and relatively cheap quality food. Stamped approved. *I took out one star because it felt like we were having dinner in an igloo*.

This place was pretty damn good, thief katsu chicken was great. Rice was good and Mac salad was as good as most Hawaiian places. The portions were crazy filling. Much recommended.

What a great place to eat. I always leave full! You get a decent amount of food for your money. Teriyaki sauce is amazing! Chicken and steak are always cooked to perfection and are tender. Love the rice and the macaroni salad.

I have always passed by this place whenever I go to Costco. I have also heard about this place from my friends who eat at their Lehi branch so I decided to try this place out. When you get here you would realize their ordering method is like a fast food counter. You can smell the grilled meat in the air also. The staff there was super friendly. They even recommend places to sit because their establishment get a little bit too cold in the main dinning hall. The mini room in the side is a bit warmer but still very cold esp during the winter season. I ordered their«mini» Ekolu with added shrimp. I say it is «mini» because the plate is actually quiet big for the word mini. The pulled pork it came with was delicious. The steak very tender and flavorful. Teriyaki chicken had just the right amount of char taste to it. Bur I would say nothing beats their Mac and cheese that you can chose for one of your sides. Yummy!!! I totally recommend going here for lunch or dinner. If the cheap price doesnt persuade you then let their delicious food do that.

Been coming here for years and not once did I remember to Unilocal it. They changed how the lines are formed and no longer have the different sauces in the bottles as before. Chicken, steak, and pork all cooked to perfection, very juicy and seasoned just right. The line to order was rather slow for not having many people, not sure why it was so unorganized? The Katsu chicken was ready when we were just about done with our meal. Seems to be a popular item. I would be afraid to come here during a lunch rush to see things all over the place.

We love the food here. The teriyaki sauce is so good. I would appreciate it if they would fix or replace the high chairs. Two of the three were broken today. The strap that goes between the baby’s legs was broken, so the baby could slip right through. They need to put them away until they are repaired.

5 stars. This place is the best. Ever since L&L moved to west valley, I’ve been trying to find a great Hawaiian bbq spot. The chicken katsue is legit. The macaroni and white rice is so good. I take the family here all the time. Especially on Utah football games. Everything is on point.

So the wife and I have now been here twice. I think of this place as a high priced cafeteria. You walk through a food line, and the people behind the counter slip for on your plate. you pay them pick up utensils, napkins and find a table. This is not necessarily a bad thing. but it is what it is. That being said the portions are huge and the food is delicious. I am six foot one and weigh 300 pounds. I ordered the mini two meat plate and could not finish it. My wife and I paid twenty five dollars. The food was great and we had left overs. I feel like we overpaid even though it was great food and we had leftovers. Probably because I was transported back in time to my high school cafeteria. That is all.

Amazing!!! The chicken is the best thing; ask for extra sauce. The macaroni salad is to die for! The serving sizes are generous as well.

Arrived in Utah today 8÷12÷15 and was hungry from a long flight. Was driving when we came upon this place. Mo bettah steaks! If your looking for good Hawaiian food in Utah this is the place to go!!! Portions are huge! They have everything here that you would expect a local restaurant to have. Kalua pig, chicken katsu etc. The reason why I’m not giving it 5 stars is because of parking which we had a hard time finding and the long lines! I guess good problems to have which means people like your food!

Well here we try attempt 2(see review on L&L BBQ I had the worst and most awkward experience there) and I’m glad i came here. After a weird experience at L&L where the chefs all of a sudden disappeared and the cashier acted like she had no idea how to run things, I still was craving for some Hawaiian BBQ. I’ve never been here before and decided to give this place a chance which I’m glad I did! To start, the portions are HUGE. I ordered chicken katsu and boy did they really deliver. Each entrée comes with two scoops of rice and one scoop of Mac salad. Most establishments will cheat you by loading your plate with rice but my box was filled to the point where I almost couldn’t close it bc of all the chicken katsu that was in there! You walk through the line so you can see your food being prepared which is nice and at the very end is where they cut and serve your meats. I see the katsu and the huge portion so I’m thinking just one cutlet is enough but the man cuts up one and a half cutlets which I didn’t expect. I’m not complaining though bc it was delicious. I couldn’t even finish half of my meal and I have plenty of katsu left. I’ve read about the sauce here and I have to agree that it is great. I made sure to ask for extra in case I did like it and I’m glad I did bc I drenched everything in it. As for the– katsu– crispy and juicy. Rice– not watered down. Nicely prepared Mac salad– not drenched with so much mayo that it’s overpowering. It wasn’t my favorite but it wasn’t bad. It was OKAY. Pulled pork– huge portion again and great smokey flavor. BBQ chicken– again with these portions! Juicy and based in their great sauce. I’m not really big into Hawaiian BBQ but when I get the craving again I will definitely come here. L&L has lost me as a customer and I would never go back there after what I experienced so Mo’Betta is the place for your Hawaiian BBQ fix.

If i could, I would give this place a 3.5. But, when in doubt, I always round down. The thing I love about this place is the sheer amount of food that you get for the money. I was easily able to share a two entrée option with my wife and still get full. The quality is not spectacular, but everything tastes great, and honestly when all is said and done, it is money well spent. Even though it did not blow my mind, it is definitely worth try.

Pretty good for a chain Hawaiian place. Real good Hawaiian wouldn’t be as cheap as this place, so if you are a Polynesian food snob, don’t expect to put this place on a pedestal. Now, if you want decent Polynesian food, a big serving of it, and a low price, come on in! The chicken katsu is pretty good in my opinion and I usually order that with brown rice and macaroni salad. Like another review stated though, I think there have been a couple times where the salad was left out too long, because I felt sick after eating it, and macaroni salad should never be warm, and it was, so I’m assuming that is what upset my stomach those couple of times I left felling less than stellar. All in all, it’s a decent place to get a meal that will fill you for a low price and it’s worth a try for anyone who enjoys something different.

Love me the Hawaiian BBQ that Mo Bettah has to offer. I’ve been a regular here for a few years now and have to say that it never lets me down. The teriyaki chicken is my go to meal with the white rice and Mac salad it just brings everything together. The steak is also another great item on the menu. I would definitely recommend either item. Come hungry because they give you quite a bit of meat. The regular with a drink comes to around $ 12~

Not my thing. I really don’t get this whole Hawaiian food genre. I lived on the North Shore of Oahu for three months. Laie. Byu-Hawai’i. Japanese language tour guide. 1991. All the other Japanese language tour guides had threatened to walk out at a crucial time of year to make more money in Honolulu. The administration called their bluff and brought 50+ of us over on a chartered plane, put us up in the dorms and paid us a reasonable wage. The other guides never did walk out leaving us temporaries with little to do for the summer. I ate from the two different luau buffets after the guests went to the dinner show. Never was impressed. Granted, you can’t judge Hawaiian food from the Polynesian Cultural Center’s buffet slop. There were several other different Polynesian groups in the community. I was befriended by many of them. They had me over on several occasions. The quality was better than the PCC buffet(it was home-cooked, after all) but it was still the same thing which I’ve already mentioned isn’t my thing. The place hops during lunch. Don’t know so much about dinner. I had a chicken katsu plate sans katsu sauce. I’m partial to Bulldog brand as it seems the most authentic. Lived in Japan for a while, kinda developed a thing for katsu. I realize this place is Hawaiian, not Japanese. That’s fine, still not my thing. The strip mall and business surrounding is super cluttered. Gives me claustrophobia just getting in and out of there. Perhaps it’s my disdain of the Costco experience that’s rubbing off on my review of this place? Go, eat, enjoy! Get that medium or large portion plate and you’ll effectively satisfy two meals. It’s that big.

I’m a fan! I’ve ate at this place multiple times and have more good than bad to say! Their portion sizes are HUGE and the meat(steak & chicken) is delicious! On one occasion I ordered the 3 meat platter and it was enough(steak & chicken)(I opted for double steak instead of a 3rd choice of meat, which was Pork) and rice to feed us. The bad… on 1÷12÷2015 I ate there again and chose macaroni salad as one of my sides and I’m not for certain, but I would bet that macaroni salad had been sitting out for way too long! After completing the side, I immediately felt ill. In which when I returned to work from my lunch, I puked about 6 times(violently)… I have no doubt in my mind it was the Macaroni Salad and only the Macaroni Salad that made me feel ill. I’ll eat there again and possibly have them cater a party, just will avoid that particular side.
