Ok, I noticed that you can get a whiskey sample tray of which I WAS interested in BUTITS $ 19 for 2 oz. This is $ 9.50 an ounce(because I can do basic math), or I can get any 1.5 oz. pour for either $ 8.50 or $ 9.50. That is roughly $ 5-$ 6 an oz.,(again basic math). I thought it was a bit outrageous considering it’s almost DOUBLEPRICE. While trying to explain this concept to my server, she just kept repeating the fact that I would be getting four different drinks. She obviously didn’t get the math I was trying to explain. This REALLYBUGGEDME. She could have just agreed with me on the math but something tells me she genuinely didn’t know basic math. After about five times of explaining my point I finally gave up. This is another example of why America needs FREEEDUCATION. VOTEBERNIESANDERS! Now that I have vented about that and plugged my favorite politician, I will review the food and whiskey. Food was nothing special. I honestly can make what I ate blindfolded and drunk. Not to mention the small«appetizer» portion and inflated cost, but it is at an airport. It did have good presentation but again lacking anything special. Now the whiskey on the other hand is verrry good! Bravo! I suggest better server training and a little flavor pizzazz added to the food, customized«special sauce» or something to give a little«kick». It needs to match the quality of the whiskey. So there you have it…

Had a layover in SLC, paid $ 16 for a bacon cheeseburger that was extremely dry, had zero flavor and the bacon was like rubber. I had 2 bites and told the waiter I was unsatisfied, he brought me my check and charged me full price. Make the trip to the other terminal and enjoy a real burger at SMASHBURGER for only $ 7.

Fresh squeezed OJ. Awesome. Ordered the chili wings and didn’t like them though. Sauce and breading was yummy but the wings themselves weren’t great meat and they are too messy to eat with your hands. Good bar though and always a fun Northwest crowd.

WHISKEYWHISKEYWHISKEY! Their house whiskey selection is awesome, and a must-try. The sampler is a lot of fun. All of them are excellent, and they have such a wide variety in flavor profiles available. Food was really good too. The wings were unique and tasty. It’s in an airport, so you have that airport tax that makes everything so expensive. I wish I’d had time to visit their home location in Park City. The bartender was very knowledgeable about whiskey, and very friendly.

For an airport bar, it’s great. I have only had apps and not a meal but I give them good marks for fun snacks served quickly. Bloody Mary was excellent. The prices are comparable to other airport bars. There’s not a lot of space for a carry on bag, especially if the place is crowded. There’s not much else to speak of near the commuter gates(E concourse).

Expect to pay if you come here. Yes, it’s an airport, where everything is more expensive, but this place is an off-shoot of a whiskey flavoring consortium that tends to deliver expensive products to the shelves anyway. Now, they’re relatively high end, granted and I certainly wasn’t displeased at all with the ones I had(though I definitely like other stuff better or equally that is much less expensive), but you’re going to get socked if you hit any of those up. Just know that going in. On the plus, the décor is excellent, maybe my favorite thing, though ambiance is killed by being next to a general airport food court seating area. As to the rest… menu looked ok, but nothing really jumped out. I went with the pulled pork nachos, which were an all-around misfire. The pork itself tasted as if they were going for maple pancake syrup in the«bark». Also had stray, unlisted onions in there. Not a ton, but enough to be annoying. Peppercinis were the pepper of choice here, but there wasn’t anywhere near enough of them. It also had a miniscule amount of white sauce that I’m assuming was meant to be the cheese and also not enough of that. Staff was ok, nothing too strong one way or the other, though the guy spoke in a very quiet voice. This is the kind of place that does in a pinch, but I wouldn’t make it a point to come here again… unless it was the only one open or I’d already hit a lot more other stuff in the airport first.

This is a great little spot hidden away in the ‘commuter flight’ section of SLC. Whether you’re there for breakfast and a little liquid courage or if you’re having lunch or just a cocktail, it’s never too busy, always well staffed and the bartenders have been a nice mix of curmudgeonly, polite and a hint of gruff. Never dismissive or unattentive. Mac and cheese is pretty tasty for airport bar food. There are plenty of places to tip a snooty glass in the SLC airport, but this is low key, down to earth, and fairly unknown. In other words, my kind of place.

Stopped at the Salt Lake City airport on a layover(of course) and didn’t have high expectations for our brunching options(it’s Utah, it’s an airport, and we only had an hour). Came away really happy though! Good drinks, good grub. The only negative to our stop was that their morning cocktail waitress called out, so there was just one bartender taking care of his part of the house as well as waiting and serving. He let us know that right up front and so all was well — slow can be OK as long as you know to expect it. There are three seating areas. The first is a narrow row out in the airport area, a long row of two sets of 2-tops. In the bar area, you can sit at the bar itself(seats about 10) and there are a few booths in that area. The cocktail menu isn’t extensive but all the whiskey based drinks sounded great. They have two versions of an old fashioned(we tried both) and Manhattans. One of the Manhattans is apparently barrel-aged but then served in 1oz pours, so we didn’t try that one and just opted for a «regular». The cocktails are priced reasonably for(a) an airport joint and(b) a higher-end bar. $ 10-$ 15 each. They’re worth the funds, as they are all well made, strong, and served in recycled/reclaimed cut whisky bottle glasses. The food was tasty as well! We had waffles with a blueberry compote and pork nachos. The waffle was served with maple syrup and butter, so of course it’s pretty much what you want at 10:30 am with sweetened whiskey(no really, it was fantastic)! The nachos were great too, the pork was wet and the sauce was sweet, almost like a caramelized onion flavor. The«hot» peppers weren’t very spicy, but they do have two hot sauces available(Cholulas). There are a lot of reviews complaining about the price, but I think it depends on where you’re coming from and keeping in mind that it’s an airport restaurant. We dropped $ 70 on 4 cocktails and two entrees, seemed perfectly reasonable to me, especially given the quality of the food. You’d spend just as much at a Ruby’s or TGIs elsewhere in an airport, and then spend most of your flight pondering the wisdom of that decision from a 2×4 bathroom cell. No regrets with High West Saloon!

So being from Park City I have never had a bad meal or experience at High West. This said, the wife and I were traveling to Denver and were hungry to grab a bite in the SLC airport. Wow were we disappointed. First we had some sickly sweet, doughy, undercooked chicken wings with a poorly doctored mayonnaise sauce. I had a chicken sandwich on what can only be described as toasted wonder bread. The wife had a burger which she said had no taste. The potato chips on the side were greasy and it all came with some mystery sauce that tasted like fish oil. Everything kind of had a fishy taste like they used secondhand fry grease from Red Lobster. And to top it all off the bartender was a grumpy bastard. Boy High West I hope you do a better job of enticing tourists because if this was my first impression I would never be back.

Ice cold pork nachos — despite two attempts to get it right — is inexcusable. No effort to apologize suggests to me that this poor quality food and service is just how they operate nowadays. This place used to be great. I first visited here in February 2015, and there was a great server(a guy with dark hair and earplugs), great booze, and very good food. I flew through SLC every week for several months and stopped here for dinner every Thurs night. The service was always very attentive and friendly… except the last couple of times(late April?) there was a different server who seemed out of his element and overwhelmed. I had hoped the regular server was just out sick or something… Fast forward to this weekend(August 2) and I had a 90 minute layover in SLC. I power-walked from C to E, just to make it back to this restaurant again, and was surprised/disappointed that the same overwhelmed and ineffective dude from April was still serving at this restaurant. So the service still stinks, but that’s not all. What happened next — sadly — is what prompted me to rule out a future return to High West Saloon at SLC: I ordered pork nachos, and they were served ice-cold, including the pork. Even the«melted» cheese sauce was very cold! I used to order this dish often so I know it’s supposed to be hot. I alerted the server and asked for it to be heated up. He took it back and 5 minutes later returned and dropped it off without waiting for me to check it. It was still ice-cold! The server had gone to the back, so I gathered my belongings to leave, then stood in the middle of the restaurant to get his attention. After a few minutes he came back out and I told him I was done trying to get a hot meal. He just said«have a good one»(no apology at any point!) and walked away. Bummer — this place used to be a layover highlight!

Pretty impressed that there’s a place this good in an airport. If you eat inside, you don’t feel like you are at one. The ambiance is very nice. The sourdough pretzel with the whiskey beer cheese was really good. So was the onion soup. Everything my family got, they liked and the prices matched up with the quality, except the Mac and cheese– that portion was ridiculously small for $ 10. That’s really the only thing they need to change because it didn’t make sense at all.

Very nice spot for an open airy airport eating place! Chicken Quesadilla’s are the bomb! Baked Macaroni & Cheese is very good but small portion and very pricey. Everything else is tasty, abundant, & priced well! Spacious as well as quiet(location away from the hustle bustle of the airport).

This place looked like a good idea while waiting for a flight but little did I know how poor the service would be. I literally saw one employee the entire time I was there and he was the waiter and bar tender for the entire place. After waiting for at least ten minutes to even be greeted I ordered a glass of wine, soup, and salad. The wine came out in a cocktail glass because he said they were out of wine glasses. It came out fairly quickly but the soup and salad took forever. The server had to come back over and ask me again what I had ordered because he didn’t write it down. Had the place been better staffed it may have been a better experience. Food was subpar but nothing special. I probably wouldn’t go back!

Great little place. Sit at the bar for sure and if there is no room just sit outside in the chairs and wait for a spot to open up. Small little place.

This is the closest place to get a drink near the E gates. They didn’t have anything vegetarian that sounded that good, do I just had a beer. Prices were high — $ 7-something for a Blue Moon. Bar tender wasn’t very friendly. Bar was small and somewhat intimate, but it was not fun. It will do if your flying out of a nearby gate and need to kill a little time.

Great place to grab a bite to eat while waiting for my flight to arrive. Few flat screens, bar and table seating. I had the bison burger cooked medium well. I added avocado slices, the burger was juicy, bacon was on the soggy side but still as salty and full of deliciousness. The chips that came adequate for my taste, I wish they were a bit thicker. The arugula salad was good but on the small side, it would of been better if it was larger. In summary, great place, fair pricing, good food. I will be returning here when I’m in the mood for a burger.

For a place to eat at an airport, you have to give this place some credit. The food was all very good. Sandwiches: Utah Ballard Farms Pulled Pork Smoked Bison Pastrami & Spicy Pork Fried Parmesan Chicken All were really good and I’d recommend trying them. Service was quick and very polite. If I am in the Salt Lake City airport again, I’ll be back!

Omg, The sazeracs. So good. In Utah of all places. We sneak here every time we have a flight out in the afternoon or later. Best secret in the airport. Terminal E, past the Vino place, down the escalator. Even have plugs under the bar. :)

Back again. It’s worth getting here early in the morning for the crispy waffles and real maple syrup. Add the bacon. You only live once, usually, right? Add a couple of the drinks with the High West vodka and suddenly the flight seems like a vacation even if the destination is work. As a veteran of airport food… I am just so happy when I get to come here and enjoy a great experience before I go. Or when I come back. This is like Park City II.
