I love this place. I’ve been here quite a few times for lunch as it’s within walking distance of where I work, and everything I’ve ordered has been great. Their tuna deli sandwich, cobb salad, and tomato basil soup are my favorite items on the menu. And their dessert… well, that is the whole reason anyone goes there right?! The atmosphere is great, the food is great, and while service is sometimes slow during the lunch rush, I’ve always ended up with the nicest waiters and waitresses at this place. I’ll continue lunching here long into the foreseeable future. It’s a great little restaurant.

Pretty crowded place because of such a wonderful ambience and food. The sweets are really fresh and finger licking good. It is really good for a Sunday brunch option.

Let me start by saying the food was wonderful, the price was okay, and it’s fairly close to the heart of SLC. My favorite part was the atmosphere. However; The staff was a monstrosity. I waited for my drink the entire time, asked twice and never got it. Our waitress just left in the middle of her shift. The parking was street parking, which makes it or breaks it for some, but I didn’t mind.

Yums! I love this place! I dined here last night. Fairly busy. We didn’t get our bread until we finished our meal after asking 2 servers twice about it. I guess bread comes after meals now to cleanse the palate. The bakery items are so scrumptious. GAH! I usually spend about $ 20ish each time for several items. You’re lucky if you can find parking in this place. I wish they would open a location in the Layton area.

The location, environment, and treats are nice, but are somewhat eclipsed by the inconsistent quality in service and the revised menu. The seafood risotto used to be one of my favorite inexpensive($ 9!) yet delicious dishes in Salt Lake. But the last time I came in the recipe had changed and was lacking the freshness and flavor that made it so good. Of course I can’t speak for a lot of the other dishes, but I believe several things are different. But their sandwiches/soups/salads are still nice. The service varies. Sometimes it’s wonderful, other times I’ve waited a half hour before being asked for water. Because it is one of the more popular dining options in SLC, this is understandable. Although the restaurant is not my personal favorite, the bakery is very consistent and offers a good selection of pastries. My go-to spot to grab some late night milk and cookies!

Lunch is great with a selection of sandwiches and such. Best desserts ever. Used to come here every year with my dad for Take your daughter to work day. Haven’t had dinner here but am excited to try it

We were in the city last night and found that this place was open late so we had to get some dinner. Food was pretty good, loved the beef bourguignon and the brussel sprouts. The free bread was old and hard, the quiche of the day was very delicious and the bruschetta sampler was quite interesting. Can’t go wrong with their desserts though, noticed a restaurant next door called Current Fish & Oyster. Have to try that one out!

We came here solely for their dessert and I am definitely a fan of one of their well known chocolate cakes, Pailletin; Sensuous indulgence! Did I just say that? :-) Wow!!! It has multiple layers of taste and texture from soft to crunchy of chocolate and hazelnut. This is my first experience of this type of cake and it’s not overly sweet. I felt like I hit a home run finding this gem. My wife had the Greek salad and smoked turkey sandwich. She said it was also really good! I plan to head back to the bakery and bring some cake back home to share with family and friends. That’s how much I love this place.

A true SLC gem! Great selection of fresh pastries and drinks. Another great place to head after dinner for dessert.

Croissants are the item that«french» bakeries should excel at. I judge a bakery by the quality of their croissant and Gourmandise — The Bakery failed miserably. My croissant(consumed 5 minutes after purchasing it) had the texture of a rubber tire. No flaky texture, no buttery taste. As a matter of fact, I had a much better croissant served on my Delta flight last week. The Gourmandise croissant didn’t even look like a croissant, it looked more like a croissant turd(see photo). The baker clearly couldn’t care less about how his/her product turned out. Baked so close together that they had to be cut apart… classy. Shame on the people of SLC for calling this place a real bakery.

5 stars on Unilocal means, «woohoo! As good as it gets!» and for Salt Lake City — Gourmandise is it! You see, once upon a time, when I lived in another land, I had my absolute go-to place for pastries. You’d NEVER catch me deviating(unless they were new and had killer reviews), and when I got to Salt Lake, I thought it was over… no more ‘pastry cheat days’… until you came into my life, Gourmandise. Filled with coffee and pastry goodness, there is a wide variety of choice prepped treats for any sweets lovers. Be aware of the crowds, and parking situations when you’re preparing yourself for the journey from home, to car, to ‘The Bakery.‘ I don’t have anything else to say except, thank you for being in Salt Lake, and thank you for forcing me to go gym it up afterwards, but being in my fridge when I get back from making my fat cry and comforting my belly with your sweet embrace… ‘olive juice’(Family Guy reference). See you again soon!

Great baked goods, pretty good food, hit-or-miss service. Gourmandise is part of the Salt Lake life. Nestled in the heart of the city, I have been a frequent customer throughout the years. Their signature cakes are a favorite for birthday parties and I can rarely resist the individual fruit tarts. It’s a good place to go for a casual meal with friends but the service is all over the place. I’ve often been ignored for long periods of time. But Elena was the shining beacon at my last visit; hands down the best service I have ever received. The bakery was extremely busy at noon on a Thursday. We quickly grabbed a table and patiently waited for menus. The service was slow but we were in no hurry and did not mind because it was understandable; the place was packed! I ordered the Turkey Avocado panini with a cup of broccoli cheese soup and a Strawberry Italian soda. Super tasty sandwich and pretty good soup. My boyfriend ordered the Hearty Chicken Cobb Salad. The salad was fresh and definitely hearty; this ain’t diet food. My Italian soda did not arrive until halfway through the meal but a second one came out with it as an apology for having to wait for so long; whoa! I didn’t even roll my eyes from the wait! We opted out of ordering dessert because the Italian sodas fulfilled that need; so over the top but I’m into it. A complimentary slice of the Passionfruit Mousse cake arrived at our table with the bill and another apology for the wait during our visit. We were blown away by this level of customer service and were the happiest of diners when we left. Although Elena was very busy, she never made us feel like we were ignored and made every effort to ensure we had a good experience.

Am I in France or Utah? This charming bakery has a lot of goodies. The ambience immediately puts me in the mood to drink coffee and eat a pastry. They also have a nice patio area outside which is perfect during summer nights. The almond croissant was excellent, especially when I dipped it in my coffee. Will need to update this review as I try more items.

Gourmandise is always an excellent choice when you’re in the mood for pastries. From their macaroons to the tiramisu, everything is delicious. There are so many varieties to choose from too. After my most recent visit, I’ve discovered that it’s also a great choice for dinner as well. I had some French onion soup and the seafood risotto. The soup had the perfect combination of gooey cheese and onions, and it was seasoned nicely. My risotto was packed with salmon, shrimp, a mussel and some crab bits. It was creamy and delicious. When we were finished, the server was absent longer than desired, but it was a busy night so I’ll give that a pass for now.

5⁄5 for the presentation! The cakes are my favorites and very well done. Definitely one of my go to spots for desserts. Baba Au Rhum — too much rum going on, but everything else in it was so good. Lemon & Pistachio macaroons were really good ! They’re out sourced from someone local. I dig the atmosphere — clean, warm, and lots of windows for natural lighting. It’s a great place for conversation ! No complaints on the service.

I can’t believe I have never written a review for this place. This is my go to place for desserts esp birthday cakes. The dessert here is very good and some of them aren’t really that sweet also. I would say this is a perfect place to go on a sweet date or even if you want something savory they offer food as well. One of my most favorite slice of cake is pailletin cake. The only bad part is that they serve the cake only in slices, not really as a whole cake. I wish they would start selling it as a whole. My second most favorite slice of cake is their chocolate mousse cake. Their macaroons are very wonderful as well. The parking here is a bit bad because their parking lot isn’t that big and some spots are for the residents that live in the apartment complex near the place. Service here also is a hit or miss. There are time when you get a waiter that is hard for you to find, and also waiting to be seated is hard to find the hostess also.

Wonderful deli and bakery which is a phenomenal lunch stop! I could not resist the Balsamic Blueberry Grilled Cheese which is brown sugar & balsamic blueberries with Monterey Jack & baby spinach on sourdough. This was an unequalled experience of mouth joy for me! I recommend that EVERYONE must order this miracle of culinary genius. They’re also a spectacular bakery with absurdly alluring cookies, pastries, and undefinable creations the likes of which I have never seen before. I give this place my highest recommendation!

Hmmm… 3.8. There is only one thing that gave me worries… the french onion soup had a very beefy broth flavor. But Alex that is how they make french onion soup with beef broth! Well shut up. Because normally the wine onions bring out the exotic flavor of the wine and onions. So having said that… lets understand better why I am a fan. The gourmet grilled cheese… i hate feta… i hate tomatoes… this sandwich had both of these things and holy mother of peggy!!! It was delicious and it was inexpensive(ps gourmandise… just get rid of those crappy chips you offer… trust me I’m doing you a favor. The cheese offered a nice bitter flavor in contrast to the sweetness that came out in the onion and the roasted tomatoes. It was a strong harmony of flavors including that tasty sauce you had on there! Now the crown jewel… the peach pastry. My expectation was a costco pastry with a little fruit filling. WRONG! Holy mother of myrl! The dough inside was nicely drenched by a peach juice. But the outside was so crunchy and delicious. It was another well crafted dish that mixed everything up. Crunchy soft sweet… peach heaven. Including a dream with peach from mario. THEVERDICT: This place tries to mix flavors… and generally they do a really good job. The atmosphere is great and I didn’t feel uncomfortable with people waiting in the line for pastries. Just… go here for lunch love it and leave.

Love this bakery! With so many options you can’t be disappointed. I’ve never tried the food here, because I only come for dessert. If the restaurant that I am eating at doesn’t have any great desserts, then I usually come to gourmandise for something delicious. My favorites are the tartlettes, tiramisu, Napoleons, pretty much any pastry from here. The selection is huge and there will be something for everyone. What is also great is that they stay open pretty late unlike every other bakery that closes before you have a chance to get there. This place is definitely my go to for desserts!

Nice bakery and coffee shop. They serve food too. I got about $ 40.00 in desserts, just to try out their array of sweets. They put them in a nice box, and I rushed them back to the hotel so we could get in out of the rain, lock the door, and get busy. Over the next few days I had a fevered romp with the crème brûlée, some of the chocolate mousse cup, all of the pecan bar, some of the rum ball, ALL, and I mean ALL of the Palletine, some of the Almondine, and some of the rock cookie. The Palletin was the greatest dessert I’ve ever had. Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum!
