I know I said El Rey De Oros has the best street tacos in SLC, but this place right here… THISPLACERIGHTHERE!!! Bestest(if that’s even a word) in SLC. LOCATION: there are two taco stands in this corner do make sure you visit the one facing state street. There is usually a line or a crowd but we lucked out this time and didn’t have to wait. FOOD: Tacos are a $ 1.00 each and comes with your choice of protein(asada, lengua, pastor, etc) rice, beans, and grilled onions on top. In a cooler next to the taco stand are the all the lovely fixings: cilantro and onions, pico de gallo, sliced limes, salsa verde, a 2 different types of red salsa. STAFF: I believe this is a one man show. The cook behind the stand is so friendly and helpful. He warned me that the red salsa were spicy so be careful, but my stubborn self wanted to try it for myself … My lips were on fire lol. He even gave me a free crispy tortilla to clean up the stuffing that dropped on the plate. For this place was closer to where I live, I would be here everyday! Im coming back soon. Very soon.

I’ve been going here for years! They have delicious seafood! I know it’s a cart. But it’s good! The staff is super friendly not intimidating at all(the one kid is awesome!) They make really good tacos, they put rice, beans, and sautéed onions on if you want, and the condiment bar is great! They offer a nice selection of sodas, and they make tort as, vampiros, ceviche, shrimp cocktails, and they have a great variety of meats to choose from. I like the tripe and chicarones. It’s such a chill stand, you don’t have to deal with the insane shit show going on at sears!

This is — and I am not kidding — my favorite place to eat in town. I know there are nice restaurants and what not, but getting a burrito or torta here and taking it across the street to the bar is my ideal meal in SLC. I have had most of the taco carts in this area and this one is by far the best. They give you good portions and a great price. They are always friendly and they usually have a solid selection of hot sauces. I love it… Now go get some tacos.

These are the tacos you are looking for. The pastor and beef are so full of flavor and the tortillas are just the right firmness. These are my favorite taco truck tacos. We liked them so much they even catered our wedding and everyone still remarks what a great idea and how good they were. I like loading up a quesedilla with beans and all the fix ins. Can’t go wrong at this spot.

Very tasty, top notch as far as taco trucks go. Good selection of meats and toppings — all delicious — and the beans and rice on top of the tacos are a nice bonus that is better than I expected.

The only cart I’ve found that has beans and rice! Also a lot of different choices in the condiment cooler. Slightly more than other trucks at $ 1. My tripe taco was overcooked, but I would come back and give it another chance since it was super late on a freezing cold day…

I’ve tried a few taco stands in the area and the other day I decided to come here. The guy in line in front of me told me he drives from Park City three times a week just to eat at this particular taco stand. So I tried a fish taco, a shrimp taco, and a quesadilla with carnitas. Everything was really good and fresh tasting. Great meat. Super friendly service. They seem to have a few more options than the other taco stands(fish, tortas, vampiros, even tamales), though it’s a tad bit more expensive. Worth it. Will probably make this my go-to taco stand.

My quest one summer was to find the ideal taco stand in the State Street area. Vanquishing endless burritos and tacos I came to rest at El Paisa. Not the cheapest stand there($ 1 a taco), but the rice, beans, and tortillas have been consistently delicious. The meat is absolutely fantastic and whatever you order can be customized with plenty of free extras, some not to be found elsewhere(caramelized onions, roasted jalapenos). This cart also serves little crispy cheesy creations called«vampiros»($ 1.50) which I could eat till I burst. I haven’t tried their seafood and I never will. Even for a crazy eater like myself I draw the line at seafood on the street anywhere but the coast. When my Texan heart is craving Mexican food, REAL Mexican food, this is the best place in town and my first stop. *** For those needing tips to jumping the social hurdles of ordering from a taco stand here’s the guide: Bring cash. Most stands do speak english and have items listed in english too. Order only one or two items per person at first. Come back and order more after your done. You only pay after your done eating everything and don’t want to order any more. Rice and beans are optional and free(and tastier than found elsewhere), other add-ins like cheese or onions are free too. If you order a burrito you will get it back unwrapped, add any extras you want inside and give it back to be wrapped up. Enjoy!
