Favorite place to eat! We love it. Great food ad good prices. You can sit inside or out. There tend to be a lot of bees and flies outside, but that is to be expected due to the location. Parking can also be tricky, but it’s worth it.

This place was crazy good. I grew up eating country breakfasts and this place nails the Biscuits and gravy as well as their corned beef hash. The host was awesome and they let us sit with our dogs on the patio and got them some water. The server was not the most pleasant person, but I don’t even care. This place was heaven and I look forward to coming back.

Cruisin south out the back side of Salinas in the A.M. Looking for some coffee and a bite. There it is Toro Place Café, good enough. And that is what it is. Good enough. Cute country breakfast — lunch spot on 68 outside of Salinas with lots of charm and full of locals. The menu is full of all American chow, the usual breakfast stuff and lunch faire. All made in a tiny kitchen. Of the halve dozen times I’ve eaten here the staff was pleasant and quick to fill the cup. All seem to be hard working and genuine. Oh yeah! the food we come here for the food. I always hope that my next meal here would be great, but it’s always just OK. Nothing special mostly average. Last words… sure OK.

After driving past Toro Café far too many times to count I finally got the chance to eat there this past Sunday and I was not disappointed. My party of 4 walked in on Sunday after noon and it was very busy but our waiter managed to find us a table inside. As I said I had never been here before and was pleasantly surprised with how homey it was, next time Id love to try their patio seating. We were promptly given our waters and ordered our drinks, but needed more time for our food while more customers filed in. I ordered a Toro Burger with avocado which was amazing. It was spicy and savory all at once. I can’t speak for the rest of my party, but it was an amazing meal. I only have two complaints: our drinks were not served until I asked for them after our food was served and I was not asked how I would like my hammer cooked(I like mine medium and it was well done, but still juicy.) Over all a great place I would go again.

Cool little spot for breakfast and lunch. The waitress we can was really funny and nice. I can’t believe they had her working alone is a busy place. She is a hard worker and she does her job well. The food was yummy both my fiancé and I are going back again:)

It’s hard to review this place because there are so many contributing factors. The owner(I’m assuming he’s the owner because he’s the only one that seems to care about anything and the servers tend to act nicer when he’s around) I give a 6 out of 5. He’s sweet, and you can tell he’s trying, he genuinely cares about his restaurant and customers. He’s the reason we keep coming back. The servers are a 1, if that. The one with the short blonde hair is so rude and angry its unbelievable, every time we walk in she makes us feel like we did something wrong or we’re inconveniencing her. The server that usually wears her brown hair in a pony tail at least smiles every now and then. The servers tend to be very slow and irritable, however, the service time(time from putting your order in to receiving your food) is quite fast. I give the food a 4, it’s reasonably priced, and consistent. The mimosas are the best I’ve ever had(I bartended for 12 years and have been serving for 17) they use really good orange juice and don’t skimp on the champagne. We love to sit on their small outdoor patio, but don’t mind their quaint indoor seating either. I would recommend this place, just know if the servers treat you like you spit in their face or just ran over their cat, it’s not you, they’re that way with everyone.

Good little hidden restaurant. My great grandfather used to come here almost every morning and got the biscuits and gravy. Ironicly when I went that is the thing that caught my eye. I went back home after and told my mom what I got and she told me of how my great grandfather got that. Felt like a little connection after that. I’ll be back soon

We stopped after hiking at toro park. Ordered a kids meal(all reasonably priced), a burger and a salad. The salad was kind of small, but very fresh ingredients, including home-made blue cheese dressing. Burger was big with lots of fries. Server was great, especially with our son. We always see tons of cars here so figured we would stop. I think I would like the breakfasts better and may try to make it out for one. Kind of a tiny place and parking is somewhat limited, but I love places like this and clearly others do too.

Food is good. Serving staff offer unclean table, don’t bring condiments or forget about you and grab the menu after ordering one thing. They fly like a breeze by you if you dine alone.

Love this place. It’s been there forever but never gets old. Nice patio seating on warm days. Great breakfasts the Greek omelet and biscuits and gravy are my favorite. Huge cinnamon rolls too. The wait staff is amazing friendly and humorous. This place gets packed but is worth the wait!

The food here is just OK. The breakfasts are good, taco salad is awful, sandwiches tend to be average to good. Potato salad is terrific. Service is generally good and the location and building are terrific.

Great service, nice waitress, good food. We both had a burger, which they are very good at doing. We plan to return for the breakfast, perhaps tomorrow.

One morning, I wanted to checkout the city of Salinas and to find a breakfast spot there. So Unilocal found me one of the highest rated ones, Toro Place Café. This place is actually located in a highway trail before you reach the city. The exterior is an old gas stop. Inside has kinda of a retro feel and is small, but spacious enough to seat a family. I was in for some South of the Border specialties like Chilaquiles, but I was surprised that it wasn’t in the menu, there was a few of that flavor and most of the stuff here was American tradition. I ordered their Taco Scramble. Its 3 eggs scrambled, hamburger, taco seasoning, cheese, onions and tomatoes. It was tasty and I did like it, you can even taste a hint of the taco seasoning. The other order was their Linquica Special Scramble. Its scrambled eggs, Portuguese sausage, cheese, bell peppers and onions. This one was okay, nothing too special, it was really simple. Also with your plate you get a toasted bread of your choice and one side, which I opted for hash browns to complete my meal. On a side note, the sausages with the scramble eggs from their kids meal were pretty tasty. My son liked them. On the table there is a bottle of their Pepper Plant. Its hot pepper sauce that adds flavor to your meal but it taste a little salty. The service was slow and seemed under staffed. But our dine-in felt homey. Parking can be tricky here. There are no parking stalls. Toward the left side of the café there is a no parking sign were there is a house. Decent roadside café at 3.5 stars.

Food is AMAZING. Bloody Mary was delicious. I pass by here pretty often and not once have I stopped by to get a bite to eat, until my boyfriend brought me for breakfast. I had the crab and avocado eggs Benedict. It was so delicious. Really recommend stopping by. You’ll love it!

The ranch crew and myself go here about 2 times a week. Everything on the menu is stellar & they rarely mess up an order. If something is ever not right they’ll take care of it for you without a doubt. We love everyone at toro!

The Huevos Rancheros rock! Very unassuming from the highway, I always just pass it by. Sure glad I finally stopped and ate. Great little hidden gem.

Tried breakfast here for the first time after passing the café, Im guessing 1,000 times. Ordered the Chicken Fried Steak which was under cooked and the gravy tasted like flour. I will try again because I’ve heard they have good gravy… Maybe just a bad day :-( Second visit… The gravy was much, much better… The breakfast was good, but not great. Ordered a simple eggs and sausage breakfast and the sausage was barely warm and was just normal… I love my food hot., oh well On the plus side… The service is very good and they have a nice patio… I’ll try once more for breakfast :-)

Who knew??? So. I decided, on a total whim, to seek out breakfast at the a Toro Place Café a couple of days ago. Once you enter, you are immediately met with country charm and warm smiles. I ordered a delicious omelette and decided to try the biscuit(the size of a small loaf pan) ‘n’ gravy too… Yummay! The service was friendly, the comfort food was good quality and quite tasty, and I really enjoyed breakfast here! I’ll be back!
