I don’t typically write negative reviews, but this was the worst experience I have ever had with a local business. They called the sheriff on me! Let me explain why … As a photographer, I sometimes photograph female models who might be skimpily dressed. My computer is very important to me, as it is a vital tool in my business. I have a Lenovo desktop computer that after a year, windows 7 would crash on me constantly. For a low monthly fee, I would call Lenovo customer support and had them remotely work on my computer. Finally they decided that they could do no more over the phone or Internet, and they told me to take it to the nearest repair shop to be further diagnosed. Since AB was close by, that is where I went. They took their time greeting me at the counter, and they DIDNOT do a diagnostic check in front of me as they’ve evidently done for others writing reviews here. It was a Friday, and they were too busy, which I understood that they needed to keep my computer over the weekend. I was stressed out and perhaps seemed out of sorts to them, as I made mistake in writing down the password for them. Within minutes, I came back in flustered and told them that I had given them the wrong password. I then gave them the correct one and left. So Monday I call and ask what they found, and that person at AB Computer told me that they are unable to repair my computer and to come pick it up. It seemed odd to me, but he also wanted to know how soon I would be there. Sure enough, a sheriff meets me at the entrance. He tells me that he has my computer and wants to talk with me about it. Apparently someone who works at AB Computer saw some images that disturbed them. The sheriff was quite nice, and showed me some of the images found of females in bikinis or lingerie that looked«young» to an untrained eye, but they are all over 18. He wanted to take the computer to the station and search some more. I gave him permission to do so. A short time later, he calls me to pick up the computer. The models were all over 18. However, there wasn’t even any nudity, nor was there any pornography(adult or otherwise) to be found. That quickly became a closed investigation the same day. The sheriff told me never to use AB Computer again, and I am complying with his strong advice in that regard. Then I went back to getting remote servicing with Lenovo tech support, and they determined that the harddrive in my computer was going out. I’m proud to say that I replaced the harddrive myself, putting a new one I bought for far less than if I had my computer repaired at that AB Computer. I am writing this review on that very same computer. I’ll never go back there!

Josh is my go to computer guy. Yes they do a diagnostic in front of you and there pretty detailed on explaining to you what’s wrong with your computer. They do charge up front a hourly fee but there also pretty good on not going over to charge you more if your computer has issues. I trust these guys with all my computers. Give them a shot!

First of all, let me preface by saying I don’t enjoy giving lousy reviews. I chose this business because they had great reviews on Unilocal. But, for me, it was a bad experience. The day I brought my PC home(for the second time), it crashed. So, now I’m out $ 180, plus had to buy a new computer anyway. My advice, I’m telling my friends to steer clear of this place, there are better repair shops in Salinas.

My mom’s computer had a power supply failure and a bad motherboard. She had very important family tree data on it that would have been devastating to lose. AB Computer diagnosed the bad power supply and motherboard in minutes and suggested that we turn the hard drive into a portable one, as a separate portable hard drive and data recovery would cost a lot more. $ 50 and a few minutes later we were out the door. They were extremely helpful and saved us a lot of money. I would recommend them to anybody.

Went into AB Computer yesterday with a Lenovo T400 laptop which was overheating. A really nice guy at the counter inspected the computer, took it in the back and cleared the air vents with pressurized air. The computer is back to normal. Thanks AB Computer! I’ll be back in the future.

I had a bad experience elsewhere recently so checked Unilocal first and I am so glad I did. My computer was diagnosed and fixed on the spot for a very reasonable price. They even opened their doors to me before they were officially open. Kevin helped me, great guy. Excellent local business!

I had my computer there and they were great and fast. Reasonably priced and the tech that helped I think his name was Josh was very good at explaining things to me.

I needed a repair quote for my dead-in-the-water HP Laptop computer(dont buy HP dv6000 or dv90000, or any HP for that matter) so I could get my credit card company to cover the repairs(or give me a replacement). As soon as I rolled into the shop, Tony came out and checked out my computer immediately. As he was attempting to troubleshoot the laptop, he confirmed my suspicions about avoiding HP laptops. He also told me that it would be cheaper to buy a new laptop. I told him I needed a quote anyway, and he quickly obliged. He printed out an invoice for me to use for the quote. *$ 140 an hour for laptop repairs; approx 2 hours to install a new motherboard. *$ 400 for motherboard. He told me most of their customers are local businesses, and they do all sorts of repairs and installations; he just installed Windows 7 for 3 different business clients(and he said Win7 is pretty nice). Very helpful, lightning quick service. Tony is a very practical, quick-thinking kind of guy; just what you want with a repair man, especially with computers.
