if you are wanting BASIC then this is the place for you. if all you want is a warm(or cool) room, a decent bed, and a shower for a relatively inexpensive price(around $ 40), then this is the place for you. if what you want are amenities… a pool, exercise room, a television guaranteed to work, a coffee maker, a room telephone guaranteed to work(I tried to call from my room to my son’s and it wouldn’t work) breakfast… this ain’t your place. while I was about to check out and was waiting for my son to pull our car up, I heard another customer(who had never been there) tell the clerk«i want a NICE room.» and I told him«you came to the wrong place for that.»(the clerk didn’t hear me, she had walked away for a minute) as for the customer service, it is kind of minimal but when the family who owns the hotel does interact with you, they are very nice and kind. another thing I was glad for, the two times I have stayed there this hotel is pretty quiet. not a lot of nonsense going on in the halls or even outside in the parking lot. I have to come to Salina on a semi regular basis. when I know I have to stay overnight I try to stay elsewhere(like the Americinn, which is my favorite). but if I am low on funds– like I was this weekend– the Value Inn is better than some of the motels located on Broadway or Pacific(those can be a bit scary). but it is definitely NOFRILLS.
