We take our daughter here for the mere fact that it’s really only one of two places to do gymnastics in the Salem area. The program works just fine, which is why it gets a mediocre rating. There isn’t anything fantastic about this place. They had a couple of great coaches for a while, but lost them. Now the coaches, for the kinder classes, are new and need some coaching themselves on how to handle 2 – 5 year old in groups. Most of the class the kids wander around. The older are mixed with the younger which holds the older ones back(and this is coming from a parent of one of the younger ones) and probably 50% of the class my child is sitting not doing anything but waiting. I keep her going because she loves it, plus I see the value in teaching my child to take turns, wait their turn, and follow directions. The problem is the class is not well structured, the coaches need to learn patience themselves, and yanking a child up by the arms is never going to help them learn(which I saw happen and is why I hover over my child during our sessions). Answering the phone when a person is calling happens rarely. I have called, my friends have called, and I have sat there during class and heard it ring, and ring, and ring. If you contact them on Facebook you have no idea who you are speaking to. They don’t identify themselves, so I’m really unsure of whether I am speaking to the same person each time or if it’s someone different. Their website sort of makes sense, but it’s hard to understand. It is better than it used to be. The lady at the front counter, Svetla, is very nice. She’s over worked as she’s expected to answer phones, keep track of kids, and help out when classes get out of control(and they do). The gym itself is nice. It’s well designed, and looks like safe equipment. In short: I’d love to give them more stars, but the service is really lacking and the coaches need coaching.
