I found this gem of a bakery totally by chance on my way to mail packages. The shop’s location is genius since I had to pass the shop to get to the mail counter. The wonderful aroma was enough to stop me in my tracks. The first time I went, I thought I couldn’t have picked a better item(peach scone – great flavor and not dry at all). On my second visit, I had the apple turnover(lots of apple bits and flaky pastry sprinkled with sugar crystals – delicious!). Today I had the cinnamon roll – which looks like a cupcake – with cream cheese frosting. It was the BEST cinnamon roll I’ve ever had! Fresh, moist yet cooked through, not doughy at all, and simply divine. It has been my best selection so far, and I can’t stop! Don’t waste your time and money at those supermarket bakeries. If you really want to impress your taste buds, come to Pure Decadence. Pastry chef Heidi is friendly and provides attentive service. Her goodies are reasonably priced, too. Also impressive is that pastries in the case are discounted an hour before closing. Now, that’s clever marketing. So what are you waiting for?

Love this bakery. Cannot resist the chocolate marshmallow cookies. This is our number one choice when we think cookies, muffins, pastries for special occasions or holidays.

I cannot walk by without following my nose into Pure Decadence. Heidi makes everything the best. I made Wedding Cakes for years and have been known to be a good cook. I rarely bake anymore but hubby was begging me to make his favorite Oatmeal cookies. I stopped in at Pure Decadence and bought him one. He said it was the best cookie he ever ate. He’s in the Dog House now. Seriously, if your gonna put it in your mouth, make sure it’s worth it. With Heidi, it will be.

I’ve only ordered her scones. Amazing! I can’t seem to get myself to order anything else but I’m sure it’s all great.

One of the best kept secrets in Salem! Their pastries are amazing! Homemade type quality. I frequently pre-order for staff meetings at my work. Always great to work with and my pastries are always very fresh. Our staff gets excited when they see me walk in the door with a box from here! Go try it!

The pastries are good, but the customer service was inadequate and substandard. The person assisting me was less helpful and rude. I would not recommend buying pastries from this place since they do not providing proper service.

This review is coming in late but I wanted to make a point of writing one. I got my wedding cake here last summer. It was big enough for 250 guests. 5 tiers, each of them different flavors, at a great price. I gave her a photo of a cake I wanted for inspiration– and it was gorgeous. We could not have been more pleased! Not only was it beautiful, it was absolutely delicious. We made the top tier carrot cake since it’s my husbands favorite, and it is the best I’ve ever had. They use all natural ingredients –so no saving the top tier for your first anniversary– it WILL go bad before that-but I liked that about it. Quality doesn’t last a year in the freezer! The owner is so sweet, she made everything from the cake tasting to the delivery so easy and fun. Thank you Pure Decadence!

Chocolate. Marshmallow. Cookie. Really I should need to say no more. It is heaven in cookie form. I walked by regularly when going to get my mail and nerry a crumb crossed my lips. That was until I learned that Heidi makes an awesome chocolate marshmallow cookie. It totally takes me back to going to Cookies with Love with my mom when I was a kid. It has been fun getting to know Heidi and popping in to say hi or talk about different restaurants and such when I run in to get my mail at the Mail Depot. She has also been helpful when I have been faced with a recipe challenge involving a gluten free member of my family. Oh, that’s another thing, she always has a selection of things that are gluten free, lactose free and vegan. Counter intuitive to my way of thinking, but I know these things are of concern to people and can it can be challenging to find desserts that meet these requirements. I have tried other things and had Heidi put together boxes of goodies for various parties and such, and everything has received rave reviews, but I will always come back to the chocolate marshmallow cookie.

I have Pure Decadence in my contact list and find it extremely easy to have Heidi put together an order for all of my holidays and dinner parties. Her pastries are a real eye candy and always add an elegant touch to my buffets. I usually buy her chocolate dipped strawberries, her mini-fruit tarts, cannolis, variety brownies and several cupcakes. My guests are so impressed with all of the lovely desserts done up on silver and crystal platters on doilies. Yet it was easy on me. She also has full pies and cakes for all of your holidays. Parking is nice and the store is convenient. We love Pure Decadence.

Oh. My. Goodness. I’m pretty much a regular here and for good reason. But yesterday was a big day. I walked in and started eyeing the bacon and cheese roll. I was warned not to buy it because I’d never be the same again. Well, I’m here to tell you that is true. Pop that bacon and cheese roll into the microwave for 15 seconds and you have a bite of Heaven. No, really, I saw angels when I took my first bite. But that is only the beginning. I’ve had the snicker doodles, cinnamon muffins, apple fritters and some other assorted goodies and, well, there’s a reason they’re called GOODies. But they should be called WOWies. Or AWESOMEies. Seriously.

This little bakery is located inside the Mail Depot on Liberty St. They offer fine pastries such as eclairs, tarts and cakes; plus the usual danishes, scones, coffee cakes, cookies, cupcakes, etc. They also have a small offering of ice creams and beverages. There is enough room to eat your treats in-store if you wish to, but the atmosphere isn’t that of a coffee shop… it’s more of a grab and go place. The owners are friendly and cheerful. I’ve had their raspberry coffee cake, marionberry empanadas, and a variety of scones; all delicious. My husband found their scones a little dry for his taste; to each his own. By the way, their scones(and maybe danishes and cookies too, I forget) are only $ 1 during the last hour they’re open, 5 – 6. I don’t think they have the same deal on Saturday since they close earlier.
