This farm is my latest obsession! You can find me here a couple times a week. The produce is fantastic and fresh. The farm fresh eggs are another favorite of mine and they last a really long time in the fridge. The owners are really great and they truly care. Tons of parking in the lot. Easy access via highway 50. Check them out! Meyer farm will become a regular stop for you too!

GOINGLOCAL I really don’t like big grocery stores anymore. I can honestly say I’ve stepped into a Jewel 3 times in the last six months. I find that amazing. In the summer, we try to grow our own vegetables. It’s fun but were not going to be able to survive on that. I’ve driven by this stand over 100 times in the last year and we finally decided to stop. We have seen so much progress as the stand has evolved into what it is today. There is plenty of parking as you pull in off of Highway 50. The stand is full of colorful signage and American flags blowing in the wind. Nothing says America more then the family farm. Family farms built this nation by feeding its growing population. Unfortunately corporate greed has stepped in and turned farms into a business with its genetically modified crap that is probably killing us as we eat it. But they would never admit that. So it’s good to go local. What I loved when I came here was getting to meet the owner, she was so kind to us and it was our first visit. I call this customer service. You always treat your first customer as good as your best customer and before you know it you will have hundreds of loyal customers. We found out a little about the farm. We learned that they had leased it last year but this year they had purchased the farm. That sounds like a great story to me. You always hear how hard it is to be a farmer and here is the Meyer family starting something new in Salem, WI. So I really congratulate them and hope to be a part of there success. All of the produce looked great. It also didn’t look perfect but that means it is actually going to taste better. The owner was very sweet. I was looking at her fresh hot peppers and I was on the fence. She told me to stick my hand in and I could have as many as I could grab for 50 cents. I looked at her and said, «I’ve got big hands!» No I wasn’t going for a joke there. I was afraid I’d take her whole bushel in one grab. She then decided to give me a couple to try on the house. Again with the amazing customer service. She was kind of like a hot pepper dealer. Now I’m hooked. Hopefully she pulls a Monty Hall again and gives me that handful deal for 50 cents. Let’s Make A Pepper Deal! I asked her about ghost peppers and she said they had some last year but doesn’t know about this year. So I’m hoping we get some of those. We picked up 3 red peppers that were starting to go bad. And yes they were priced to move! I threw them on the fire and roasted them, when I got home. They ended up being used for three different meals: pizza topping, Omlettes & veggie Panninis. I was so sad when we were done with them. I can’t wait to grab a few more. I always love roasting veggies. There are also some cute barn cats here too. My little one had a lot of fun playing with them. So as we were checking out the fresh produce, she was having fun with the cats. The cats were also super relaxed. These farm cats now how to live. City cats are wild and high strung. I grew up with cats, so I do have a sweet spot in my heart for them. I love how independent they are. My wife wanted to by some eggs but we already had 2 dozen in the fridge. We promised to be back. In fact, my wife made a stop there yesterday without me knowing. So when I woke up this morning I had a dozen farm fresh eggs waiting to cook the family breakfast. Aaaaa… farm living is the life for me! Next thing I know we’re going to be building a chicken coup in our backyard. No not really but it sounds cool. In the next couple of weeks corn and tomatoes are coming, so I can hardly wait. Yummy! They also have frozen ground pork and ground beef, along with the seasonal vegetables. So I guess you will never know what they have, until you visit the stand. I am so glad we did finally stop. The location is very cute and the owner is really friendly. This place was made for us. I’m huge on customer service and it doesn’t get any better then this. I also noticed this morning they have a Facebook page. I asked my wife if she picked up a bushel of peas. She told me she didn’t know they had them. I told her that they were half price off, according to the Facebook Post. Guess what? We’re probably going again today. You can freeze peas and serve anytime. I love a farmer that gets Facebook. And now welcome to Unilocal!Yes I am so excited to add you to Unilocal and more excited to come back again and again.
