Main St Bagel & Deli

This place has been around for decades in the same little corner of Salem depot. A simple Starbucks/​Dunkin’ alternative with coffee, wraps and bagel sandwiches and also a deli. The seating is incredibly minimal and it’s no frills inside. It’d be great for a quick bite and they’ve been around forever so they are doing something right.

I ordered a wrap today and the girl that made it told me she was new. She had no supervision and obviously hadn’t been trained very well. I went to eat my lunch and basically had a wrap full of lettuce which I didn’t order (I hate lettuce) and was missing my cheese and most of my roast beef. There were two measly slices inside. I paid $ 8 for this wrap and will never do it again. Horrible.

The food here is really good. The indoor seating can get minimal during lunch time. The reason this restaurant is only getting two stars from me is because there is a woman who works here who just has the WORST attitude ever. She’s mean to the people she works with & to customers she doesn’t know. If you’re a regular and she knows you then she’s polite. Trying to get any kind of pleasantness from her is out of the question. I understand that no one knows what other people are going through in their lives but one should have the brains not to bring it into work. You work in the service industry, being a bitch to your customers makes you lose business. Like how you’ve lost ours. It’s too bad too because the food is good and all the other employees are nice. The experience of this place is ruined because of one douche that’s always there scarring people away with her bipolar, crappy attitude. Lighten up and get a new hair cut, you white trash witch!

It is now the only place in Salem to get decent fresh bagels.
Went on Sunday am, and had a good bagel and ice coffee outside on the terreace.
One observation. The ice coffee is self serve. You get your own ice.
The ice scoop is inside the ice bin which is a health code violation. Also the ice machine itself the top was very dusty.

oh yum. i heart this place. If I am in the area around breakfast or lunch on one of my vacation days, I crave 2 of the things they have here:
1) spinach or healthy 8 bagel with light veggie cream cheese (or an egg and cheese). Either way, the bagels here are freaking awesome!
2) Thin n Trim turkey wrap: lertuce pickles, and honey mustard– you can add cheese too if you want to make it more fatty.
The workers are quick and efficient and fairly friendly.
