This place is seriously still open? How much dough is the health inspector getting 2 keep this place afloat? Let’s just say I’ve had better dining experiences in jail. This place is so bad that I longed for a quick execution soon after walking in. Be warned

Good chips and salsa,(always important). I ordered the«crispy chili relleno» because most come soft and soggy… and I enjoy them the way I make them… crispy. But alas, these were soft and floppy, not crispy as described on the menu. I would have rated this Mexican restaurant average with 3 stars for their food if it were not that I couldn’t find a booth that didn’t have tears in the seats.

Not a full review of the food, but felt this warranted a quick review. Ordered some rice and beans to go for, as we were eating across the street and my 3 year old has picky tastes. $ 6.50 for a small amount of runny refried beans and rice?! You just lost any future business of mine.

Nope. Clue one this was a bad idea… place was dead during the dinner rush hour… clue two… huge flat screen tv airing a Mexican soap opera at a loud ass volume that no one was watching… and clue three… out of bud light. I ordered fajitas they were actually good so that earned the two stars. My girl friends tamales were so salty I considered investing in a salt mine thinking that, this restaurant, used all the salt in the world… on her plate… that kept it at two stars. Disappointed.

Very good food I had the beef Molcajete with the corn tortilla they were just made and excellent! I got the meal medium spicy hot and it was hot next time I will get mild.

A waste of real estate. Very disappointed. Would rather eat a Banquet TV dinner.

Sorry, I wish I could give a better review and I wish we would want to go back but it won’t happen. I drive by this place everyday on my way to work and have always thought what a nice appearance the place has and wondered if the food was just as good. My husband and I went for a early late lunch today and were seated immediately. The chips and salsa were served half full and they had no taste. Small waters were served with no ice. The waitress was pleasant and took our order quickly. We ordered 2 strawberry margarita’s and even though it was refreshing, we could not taste the alcohol. We ordered 2 side taco’s and they were just like Taco Bell’s hard shell. Taco Bells tasted better and had more meat in them. I wondered why the shells were not more authentic My husband ordered the chicken/steak fajita combo and I ordered a carne asada nacho’s. My nacho’s were delivered t the table and the fajita’s weren’t. I noticed how dry my nacho’s were after taking only several bites and was a little bummed, to say the least. Each taco was $ 2.50. I sat and waited for several minutes then my husbands fajita’s came to the table. They looked and tasted OK but the sour cream, avocado and beans were very skimpy, like they were trying to save money. We have had a lot better Mexican food elsewhere. I had them add more cheese on my Nacho’s and all they did was sprinkle more on top that wasn’ t even melted. I really feel the place has more potential but it wasn’t showing through for me. It was quite entertaining watching at least 3 people standing on the corners of Broadway and Hood, walking up to cars begging for money. Even though I’m Italian, I can make better Mexican food then they did. The building has so much potential. What a shame. I wish them well.

It is the rare dining experience where I come home and immediately Unilocal about the place. This is one of those rare experiences. My partner and I have seen this place on several occasions as we drive past and have always said; «we need to try that place sometime». Well today was that sometime, as we were going to another place we stopped at the traffic light and I mentioned that we could eat there as it was right there, open and not busy. So stop we did. We were seated immediately and presented with Chips, Salsa, and to my surprise a small dish of refried beans! Our young server came back right on cue as we set our menu’s down and took our order. Within about 15 minutes our meals were brought to our table. My partner had the steak fajitas and I had the steak fajita salad. The presentation makes the meal on many occasions and this was no exception. My partners’ fajitas were presented sizzling on a flat skillet perched 8 inches above the table on a tall iron stand! My salad was presented on a plate and it was graced with the same steak fajita’s as my partner. We have eaten a lot of mexican food over the years, but Los Yonics has topped the list as our ‘go to’ place. The sauce for the fajitas bordered on sweet without actually being sweet, and the vegetable to meat ratio was perfect! The tortillas for the fajitas were warm and strong without being mushy! While we did have a little bit to bring home, this was one meal that we both enjoyed immensely! You don’t want to miss this gem on Broadway in Salem!

Great service. Don’t go expecting food from Oaxaca. I visited in mid-August after seeing their review in the S-J about speclalizing in food from that region. My friend who had lived there for a long time(though originally from Mexico City) was very excited, too. When we mentioned that to the staff, they had no idea what we were talking about. Finally, the owner /cook came out and amiably agreed to make a couple things«special» for us. But, much of what she purported to be regional was from a can! :(Despite that disappointment… the food was decent and the atmosphere friendly!

It’s seems like there are new Mexican restaurants popping up all the time around here. Most of them are indistinguishable from each other — but this place ranks up there among the best in my book! The flavors are unique and delicious… like nothing I have tasted before(and I am a foodie). I ordered the Pollo en Mole and a fresh Mango smoothie. The sauce had just the right amount of spice and a nice subtle smokey flavor that was out of this world. My meal came with home made tortillas(awesome) and rice and beans and, of course, Chips and Salsa to start. My friend ordered a giant burrito(don’t remember what it was called) and a week later is still talking about how good it was. The service was impeccable. The owner, Willevaldo, came out and asked how our food was… that never happens anymore! It is clear that they are 100% invested in making this place work. I was there for lunch and got in and out of there in 45 minutes without feeling rushed. This location has been home to several Mexican restaurants over the years and I think they finally got it right this time. I will certainly return.
