Wonderful as usual! Carol is a rockstar server! Remembers everybody’s usual order and keeps my soda filled!

What happened to one of our favorite breakfast spots? Until the service improves, I can’t recommend this restaurant anymore. After seating ourselves for breakfast, we were ignored by our server for approximately 10 minutes until I finally had to retrieve our menus from the front register. Our server did not approach us until approximately 20 minutes after we seated ourselves. No mention of our having to retrieve our own menus. Server made a puzzling comment that she thought that we were waiting for more people, which made no sense because she hadn’t approached or communicated to us since we arrived. We tried to order a fried egg and the server didn’t know how to take the order. This had never been a problem before. For the next 37 minutes, our server did not communicate to us, provide an update on the status of our order, or check in on us. Attempts to make eye contact were ignored. I thought that our plates would be expedited due to the long delay in taking our orders, but just the opposite occurred. After an agonizing 57 minutes after being seated, we were finally served our food. Toast was forgotten on one of our orders, and despite an attempt to explain what a fried egg was, the eggs were not prepared correctly. The food itself was good, as usual. While waiting to leave, another server brought another customers’ credit card, placed it on our table, and walked away. I called her back and it was taken care of, but I was alarmed that I had access to someone else’s credit card number and security code. For a moment, I felt like I was in a different restaurant and that this was all a bad dream. We appreciated that another sever helped clear our table to help get us out the door faster; however, we were flabbergasted that, our credit card and ticket were never picked up. I eventually had to take our ticket to the register and request to pay so that we could finally leave. I was surprised to be asked how everything was. I explained the specifics of our negative experience. Frankly, I thought that much more concern would be shown. There were many opportunities to communicate and to make things right, but we left feeling dismissed. I understand that things happen, but our last experience was so outrageous that, although I still recommend the food, it will be a long time before I give Josey’s another chance.

This place has excellent biscuits and gravy! Always friendly service. In my opinion it is a little more expensive for a breakfast place. However, I have no problem paying a little more for good food and service. I can’t believe I had forgot about this place for years. Definitely recommended little breakfast spot to check out

I came in to dine alone today. The server’Melissa’ was friendly and inviting. My breakfast ‘HOBOOMELETTE’ was fantastic. I had planned to take a picture but I ate it all up. The owner was at the grill and had the kitchen under control. I can not believe I worked in Keizer for 10 months and did not know about JOSEYS. I can’t wait to bring my husband for the biscuits and gravy! The location and parking alone is a draw for sure. So take the bus and stop off at 9,19 or walk, run drive or bike on down. You will find a delightful meal and fast kind service at a good price. Thank you Unilocal for having this place on your list! Fauna from Dayton

Went here with a group of four on a Sunday. The place was full but we got a table right away. It’s a small restaurant so large crowed would have to be seated separately. The food came quick. It’s diner food good. We had the 8oz bone in ham breakfast with extra side pancake. It was big enough for two people to share with left over pancake! Our guests had 8oz bone in ham breakfast with extra side of biscuits and gravy. It was all tasty!

Great breakfast… have not tried lunch yet… excellent chicken fried steak– pounded out thin with a light flour coating, fired on the flat top; not the heavily coated, deep fried commercially prepared style found at other places. Theirs are freshly prepared when ordered. I cut mine with a fork. Biscuits are fluffy; gravy is very tasty. Wait staff is friendly and attentive to keeping your coffee warm. Service is prompt. Will definitely be a repeat customer. Next time will try their lunch. Please note that they are only open for breakfast and lunch. This is a diner; seating is not huge but we did not have to wait. Parking in front which is very handy.

It’s a diner, so don’t expect fancy decorations and ambiance! What you’ll get is great food; especially breakfast food — chicken fried steak dominates the platter; biscuits and gravy are great comfort food. The vast majority of their food is from scratch and it is just fantastic!

I came here for breakfast about a week ago on a Sunday morning. This place is pretty reminiscent of a classic diner from back in the days. My friend and I first arrived and was asked to sit wherever there was space available. It wasn’t too busy but still quiet enough to enjoy the scenery around me. I perused through the menu but since I’ve been here before I wanted to get a chance to order the Sunday breakfast special which is the Prime Rib and Eggs. Our server Carol even remembered the last time I was here and recollected the fact that I wanted it last time as well but was too late because I had already made an order for the chicken fried steak which is also great! When we received our meal I was happy with the size of the prime rib which was also cooked to perfection at medium rare. I took my first bite and was amazingly surprised that it was not overtly seasoned and retained much of its natural flavor. I will admit that I scarfed down this meal and pretty much got to a point where I had to force myself to stop cause it was really too much food. I would definitely recommend this place as they have a great selection on their menu that can cater to many different tastes. Prices are very fair and according with its pricepoint and the service pretty good. Happy Eating Everyone…

I drive by this joint every day on my way too and from work. Since I worked nights for a long time, I thought that it was a closed down diner. When I moved to days, I saw it was open in the morning. I kept telling myself I had to stop in there, but would eventually go to an old standby instead. I am, though it’s being corrected, a creature of habit. So I had an early early morning, and I decided that today was the day. This is a classic American diner, reminiscent of the 60’s and 70’s, not the garish, bright 50’s. Clean, tidy, and streamlined, with a fairly open kitchen that allows you to see the chef, Mark, working and calling out what he needs and what he’s doing to the limited staff. I say limited, but not in a bad way. My waitress, whose name I neglected to attain(though it was probably on my check), was beyond helpful and courteous. My diet coke never got below half-full, she was attentive to anything I would need, and she was not only quick to greet everyone that came through the door, but was quick to get to everyone’s table. I would imagine on Saturdays and Sundays, there is another wait staff, because the place is deceptively large with a back room, but on my day, there was just her. I was instantly charmed, because the front page of the menu had a list of «Mark’s Creations,» and having heard about the aforementioned chef Mark behind the grill, I put two and two together, because I’m smart like that. I was charmed because that lifts his status, in my head, from cook to chef. Working the ingredients and seeing what works and what doesn’t, and straying from the standards, that’s what makes a place stand out, and I was glad to see it. I ordered the chicken fried steak, hash browns, two eggs, and toast. Wonderful. That’s pretty much all there is to it. The steak was flattened and very thin, but incredibly massive. The plate literally could not contain all of it. I cut it in half and stacked it, like pancakes, and then cut through two layers at a time. The coating was delicious and crisp, not soggy in the least. I ordered it without gravy, only because it felt like a ketchup day. But my wonderful waitress brought me out a bowl of gravy, so that I could give it a whirl. I have to say, I was at a loss as to what I would do in the future. The gravy was quite good, and makes a hard run against the gravy at White’s Diner, which is my standing favourite. The hash browns were also of a massive quantity, nicely browned and crispy, and cooked all the way through. The eggs were the weakest part of the meal, which considering the overall quality, is really quite a compliment. It’s hard to do scrambled eggs either really well or really bad. They were firm, tasted like eggs, and made a nice compliment to the steak. The toast was toast, and I enjoyed it. Though this is a diner, it’s a little bit more spendy than you would think. My meal cost over ten bucks, but I did not feel slighted in the least. It was well worth it. I only bring up price because it would be easy to walk into here, thinking it’s a 3 dollar greasy spoon, but it’s not. It’s very high quality food, at a very reasonable price, with what appears to be an amazing wait and cook staff. I will definitely be going here again to try their other items on hand.

We always get great food at Josey’s. Their shakes are the best I’ve ever had, yum yum. They also have a good score from the health department.
