Stationery, paper, office supplies, and even furniture and equipment. If you need it for your business or home office, Cooke consistently surprises me with what they have. And they are always friendly and pleasant — plus, they are a fixture in the local business establishment. Not open on weekends, though, which is sometimes a nuisance.

A very happy accident brought us to Cooke’s the week before we moved. After our weekly lunch with my father we were walking back to the car when I suddenly realized I wanted a cupcake. This took us across the street to Sugar.Sugar. After acquiring said cupcakes, were slowly walking back towards the car when we passed what appeared to be a sidewalk sale of office furniture. Since I was in no rush to gulp down my tasty delight, I stood there looking over what had to have been ten chairs all in a row. I looked, I sat, and I looked some more. What really caught my attention was the price tags. These display models were marked down almost 80%. The chair that had caught my eye, or rather, my backside, was marked down to $ 89 from almost $ 600. When I had finally finished my cupcake, we walked inside and asked why there were so many great chairs on sale for so little. The lady informed me that they just had so many salesman samples that they had been pushed to the bursting point and had to let them go for pennies. Well, that was good enough for me and my most excellent boyfriend pulled out his wallet and bought me my chair right then. He also carried it to the car rather than scuff the wheels up pushing it down the street, bonus! Well, after a couple days knowing that he also needed a new computer chair, we came back to purchase one for him. Then, the following day, I told my mother about the fantastic deals we had just found, and she wanted to get in on it before they were all gone. So, we piled into the van and drove her over to get one. In the end, for this specific sale, I don’t think you could have found better for any less. Unfortunately, I can say this is probably the only time I’ve actually gone in and bought something from Cooke’s, even though I know they’ve been a downtown trademark for as long as I can remember.
