We had a fabulous Valentine’s dinner on Saturday night at The Range. As always, the staff was friendly and efficient. The food was as delicious as ever! Thank you Chef Dave.

Our Valentine’s Meal at the Range at the Barton House was outstanding. The several courses came out at just the right time. Nothing was late or cold. Everyone (6 of us) had different appetizers, main courses, and desserts. The atmosphere is amazing, always a smile on the employees faces. Justin, our server, was witty, yet professional and gave very good recommendations on drinks that worked well with our meal. Dave Herman, owner operator/​head Chef is an outstanding host and comes out to greet his guests with a big smile on his face and a hearty handshake. I recommend the Range at the Barton House any night they are open if you want an upscale meal with a small town ambiance. His lunches on Fridays and Saturdays are also something to rave about. Never a bad meal or a bad time at The Range.

The experience was horrible. We actually got up and left before our meal was put in. The staff was rude and because of dietary restrictions we asked the chef to substitute certain items and he refused. For the money spent it would be prudent for them to accommodate patrons with special dietary needs. I have been to restaurants all over the world and never had an experience quite like this.

We just had valentines day dinner at the Range. It was our fist time there and we loved it! Our waitress was really nice and attentive. The chilean sea bass was amazing! The goat cheese salad was great too! Good wine and yummy desserts! Very romantic, perfect place for a date. Had a great time!

Atmosphere and Service outstanding with the exception they started setting up for the next day and the staff was banging silverware and it got a bit noisy.
Food was good quality and creative. Needs more «flavor» for this guy… but good. It seems Central Texans are a bit behind on their flavor profiles and this place does not over salt or spice in order to fit the area’s pallet. What do I know anyway? This establishment fits the mold of Salado perfectly, a simple little oasis for a quaint and easy going community.
How about some upper-​end Tex-​Mex on the menu? Research Stephen Pyles Southwestern Cuisine. Clayuda’s to die for… flavor express!
We will be back… heck, The Range is one of the only decent restaurants in town!

I was so excited about trying this restaurant. I was there with my aunt for lunch. There were only two entrée choices and Cobb salad for the lunch menu. We both chose the ham sandwich on a croissant (the other choice was a burger) I asked for other bread choices but they didn’t have any. The sandwich tasted ordinary though it had apples, cured ham and spinach inside. The croissant was cold and not flakey. The garlic French fries and the side Caesar salad were tasty. The dessert– warm chocolate cake with ice cream was excellent. The service was great but it was not a $ 50 lunch. I like to think this was a off day at the restaurant.

A spectacular dining experience. Tasty selections with outstanding presentation. Wait staff was extremely attentive. The atmosphere was relaxing and not noisy… it’s a treat to enjoy a fine meal and have a conversation while doing so! Will definitely be back to dine there soon.

Had lunch in the room off the bar. The atmosphere was very relaxing, the service was great and the food was good quality but limited in quantity and selection for lunch. The fries melt in your mouth and the burgers taste homemade, so definitely a good safe bet.

Great drinks, great service, loved the atmosphere. We ate inside then had drinks outside listening to music. The steaks were lovely but the «fixins» were wonderful including the horseradish mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce.

Great evening with a delicious meal in a quaint village, Salado! Chef Dave prepared delicious food with picture-​perfect presentation. Also enjoyed the music upstairs in The Lounge. Small and intimate room to listen to local musicians — was much appreciated after a long day of the Christmas Stroll. Definitely will be back!

The place was lovely and the service excellent. My date had the seared salmon fillet and really enjoyed it. I had the past which was good but slightly bland for my taste. I’m a food snob so don’t let my bland comment dissuade you from trying it. 4 enthusiastic stars!

This place is a true gem. The chef obviously cares about the quality of food he is serving and we are thankful! Every bite of this meal, from the appetizer to the perfectly seasoned filet of beef was a new memory. The service was phenomenal. The atmosphere was semi-​formal without being stuffy. I was reminded of «August» in New Orleans. Thank you for a wonderful evening all!

Such an amazing meal, got here 15 min before they close Friday and our waiter Stephen was a delight, he recommended a cocktail that was not on the menu, probably the best drink I ever had, the pan-​American (whiskey lovers) but everything was wonderful from the drinks, app, soup, the entries, and even dessert, perfect romantic dinner for 2, she ordered the rib-​eye and I order the beef fillet (heaven) I am definitely coming back to this wonderful hidden gem

What a neat spot in Salado to have a great meal! The Range is in a building that used to be home to a small physician house called the Barton House.
The service here was top notch, and the entire meal was delicious; a bit more on the high end on price.
They start off by serving you bread with the real deal butter, not just some spread which is great! We decided to start our meal off with the pizza of the day, oh so good and a perfect appetizer. So much cheese! I also got the soup of the day, which was the ‘spicy soup’, it wasn’t the best — pretty bland that I had to add salt, which I typically never add salt to any of my food.
For my main entrée, I opted for the Culotte steak, which was cooked perfectly — medium — just how I like it. The steak was juicy and flavorful, and the cheddar grits were melt in your mouth goodness. My friend went with the ribeye which was delicious! The Brussels sprouts served along side were so good, I could’ve eaten a whole plate of them.
To finish our meal off, I just decided to have some coffee as I was so stuffed and figured the coffee would help me settle it all down :). The coffee was a nice french press which was a great way to finish the meal.
All in all, great place to eat with friendly service. They also have live music upstairs at times, but we opted to just sit downstairs.

Great meal great service. We will defiantly be coming back to Salado for another Range experience. The people were awesome and so accommodating! They really made us feel important! Love the entire experience from the champagne, cocktails, main entrees to the great entertainment upstairs.
Looking forward to our next visit.

A very unique experience celebrating our 32^nd wedding anniversary. Simple to make reservations online. Arrived on time and warmly greeted by hostess who complimented us on our 32 years of marriage. We received exceptional personal service. Our food was exquisite. A definite must. You’ll score big points romancing your bride at this historic rustic location. Truly outstanding staff. Our best fine dining experience all the way around.

The food is always great. The chef works really hard to keep the menu fresh. Great place for nice dinner.

Friendly staff and great food. I would recommend the Range for dinner to anyone coming to Salado. I’m so glad I came.

Great place for a semi-​fancy dinner! Upstairs is a cute little bar with live music at times. Check out their cocktail list, I have tried a few and they all turn out good! The service is really good.
The only negative thing I can say is nit-​picky — the floors are so noisy when servers walk by. Trust me, it is easy to get past that though!
