Big five stars for the staff here. The food is great quality. Combined with the entertainment and the seven other people you can have a lot of fun at this place. I have actually spent two of my life events here. I bought dinner for my parents and my girlfriend here when I graduated college. AND I asked my girlfriend of 8 years to become my wife here. The staff accommodated me beautifully the sat us at a table by ourselves, and got the attention of the entire restaurant when I proposed. The chef ask took the two bottles of sake that we ordered off of our bill when we went to pay. Only thing was the waitress gave the surprise away when we went in(I don’t blame her she couldn’t contain her excitement.)

Good… not great. Cook good and funny but food average. Will not come back with better choices in the area

I am a big fan of hibachi style grills. This place delivered with pizzazz and just the right amount of flair. The chef was delightful, and he did just what I wanted. He gave my wife more attention than me, that’s perfect. It allows me to enjoy my food the way I like, but still get the great hibachi style experience. The food was great. The lobster was better than Kobe and the rest was on par. I will go again, it’s the same experience at 20% less costs and right up the road. I’m ready to see another onion volcano as I speak!!!

I love teppanyaki, especially for lunch. I used to go to Kobe on Olive for lunch several times a week. My favorite thing about Kobe was the soup and salad bar. That ginger dressing is so addicting and the tiny little salads most places give you just don’t cut it, so I loved being able to have all the ginger dressing I wanted. Plus they had these delicious cold sesame green beans. Not to mention that the food was really good. When I walked into Ariake, I was nervous. The place is very dark and shabby. And it smells bad. I know I don’t live my life properly, and I can tell because when I walk into a restaurant that looks kind of dirty and SMELLSBAD, I don’t walk out. I guess I’ll have to take it up with my parents. The teppanyaki grills all seem to be caked with the residue of the last thousand meals. Again, I did not leave. However, at this point I had an excuse, because I saw they had a salad bar with ginger dressing and those green beans I love that I hadn’t had since Kobe moved to Westport, like 10 years ago. So I was not going anywhere. Their dressing is not the best ginger dressing in the city, but even mediocre ginger dressing is better than just about any other dressing. And how I’d missed those green beans. I’ve been twice now and the only reason I went back(and will probably go again) is the salad bar. It’s just one of those things that evokes the memories of happier days and tastes just good enough to endure everything else that is wrong with this place. The quality of the teppanyaki itself depends largely on the chef, but it’s been on the bland side both times. Their condiments are not as good as other local Japanese steak joints. The tea is not green tea but a dark, Chinese tea, probably oolong, I guess. I prefer green tea. Service has been generally good, though. One factor in Ariake’s favor is the price. It is a couple dollars cheaper than other local restaurants of its kind, but you get what you pay for, I suppose.

Food was good on the hibachi side. Our chef was mediocre and the steak was over cooked. But other than that it was a all right place to eat.

Great Japanese steak house. Entertaining cooks, excellent food. I can’t comment on the other side, as we always come here for the steakhouse side. Excellent staff, super welcoming and friendly.

Sadly I have to rate this place as about as bad as it gets. Please do not eat here. This was honestly the worst dining experience I can ever remember having. Ever. Food: The worse sushi I’ve ever had. Ever. Sushi is my favorite food, I eat it at least once a week… I am not picky, I’m even okay with the stuff you can get at Schnucks… because hey, sometimes it’s not so bad. I grew up in Hawaii, lived there until I was 22. my husband taught english in Japan for awhile… Let’s just say we LOVE Japanese/Sushi. But this… this was literally the worst sushi I have ever had. EVER. What kind of «crab» do they put in these rolls? This is not just your standard«imitation crab», this was something different all together. I literally feel sick when I think about the«sushi» they gave me. I almost got sick on the table. Server — although he seemed nice, provided some of the worst service I’ve had. Didn’t bring water until we got our food even though I asked him for it three times, he spilled soup all over the table and didn’t wipe it up(nor did he offer to bring a new one since half the soup was now on the table), didn’t bring a sushi roll out that I ordered, after having a lengthy conversation about said roll. The girl next to us, when we left, said«How was that roll?»(she heard us talking about it; it’s one of their«new rolls» so she was curious how it was) and I said, they never even brough it to us! She was shocked. Granted they didn’t charge us but c’mon.(Why didn’t I push it? Because by the time we realized he wasn’t going to bring us that roll, we had already had another roll and knew how bad it was. We felt blessed he forgot!) Also, the whole experience took close to 90 minutes. We got 1 steak combo plate, and 2 sushi rolls. 90 minutes? After we were done, we waited for-ev-er for the check. Management was extremely rude. Listen, apparently you don’t know how Groupons work. The whole idea is to get new customers who will COMEBACK. She said our Groupon wasn’t valid because we used it on a «Lunch Special» and in the fine print, on all Groupons, you cannot combine them with other promotions. WHAT?! WEORDEREDOFFTHELUNCHMENU! ITWASN’T A SPECIALMENU! We told them about the Groupon before we ordered and they said no problem! WHAT A SCAM!!! The Groupon said«lunch or dinner» She just looked at us… No apology. Really? REALLY? So I said, where is your normal menu, if this is your special’s menu. «Well, that is the normal lunch menu but they are all considered specials» Are you kidding me? I was so shocked I just stopped talking to her while my husband tried to reason with her. Ridiculous. I’m a reasonable person but this was just awful. There was literally no redeeming factor about the entire meal. You couldn’t pay me to eat here again.

I read a couple of oolder reviews on another site, but I’m glad I checked Unilocal before I wrote Ariake off. The tempanyaki was outstanding, and we lucked out by getting the owner as our chef. He was terrific and vey entertaining. I’ve probably been to 60 to 70 other Japanese steakhouses all over the country, and for sheer entertainment value, he is in my top three chefs. Plus, it’s right across the parking lot from a nice Drury Inn. I will return on my next visit to STL.

Had sushi this past weekend. It was gross. Plan and simple. If you think the sushi is good here, please, PLEASE get out of St Charles county and try Wasabi or a place that does nothing more than just sushi. Trying really good sushi may blow your mind after thinking this is the best you have ever had. Service was good!

The food is great. I like it because there are lots of healthy choices. The Chefs totally make your food to order. The Chefs are also very funny and put on quite a show. I think they are actually NINJAS!

My husband and I ordered sushi from Ariake for the first time tonight. We were really in the mood for sushi, and our usual places(Crazy Sushi, Drunken Fish, and Wasabi) are closed on Sundays. We thought we would give Ariake a try. We ordered the California roll, Alaska roll, Dynamite roll, and the Volcano roll. Their prices for rolls are very reasonable, but I have to say this is the most bland sushi I have ever eaten in my entire life. Everything taste the same: like rice. I don’t even think their soy sauce packets had much flavor. I have not tried their hibachi, but as for the sushi, we will stick to our regular places.

We visited tonight. My husband had sushi and I had Thai food. If I hadn’t read the other reviews I would have assumed it was bad. We loved it. Both of us felt that we received quality authentic food on par with what we’d get in the California Bay area. Service was great the waiter even ran outside in a crazy rain storm to try to return a credit card left by a patron. The décor is a little weak but fantastic food and dinner for two including tip was $ 50

Yep. Five stars. And the best part is… it’s maybe 2 minutes from my house. I need to start checking in here, then again, it might become annoying how frequent the check-in’s would be. I have been the hibachi side twice and didn’t pay much attention to the other side of the restaurant(Thai/Sushi). The hibachi is decent and great atmosphere with the shrimp flying across the room, but the real deal is on the other side. Not only is the sushi superb, the wait staff is just awesome. Our waiter, Noki(poor guy works every time we come), remembers my friend and my name and our order every time(if we are getting the usual). He jokes and laughs with us all while being attentive and patient with our shenanigans. I absolutely love fried Philly rolls and Ariake has the best; however, on our last trip we tried their Volcano roll. It blew my mind. Spicy scallops and white tuna in a Japanese chili-pepper sauce atop a warm California roll. Yeah, real good. Before our rolls, we HAVE to get the crab rangoon. Probably my favorite ever. Paired with a sweet and sour sauce that has major heat. It’s just so good and I know I will be satisfied whenever I am done. It’s reasonable too. Can’t wait for next time, which will probably be some time this week.

Hibatchi at its finest. The service is amazing and so are the chefs. ANDTHEFOOD! Muy Yummy! And lots of it. We usually end up with a large take home box every time we go. The atmosphere is very casual and is great fun with a group of eight at one grill. Food and a show!

Ariake is divided into two separate sides: the Thai side and the Japanese side. On both sides you can order sushi, which I was most impressed with. The food here is delicious, and everyone who works here is wonderful. I am not one for hibachi, but I did taste some of my husbands and it was better than what I’ve had elsewhere. The sushi is very fresh and tasty. I just adore everything about this place. We came after seeing them on a local tv show, and the warmth and kindness of the people who owned and operated Ariake and the looks of the food brought us in. I cannot recommend this place enough.
