My husband and I went to the Edina office. We were misled on the cost and told we could meet with finance AFTER we had blood work and other tests done. We were told these tests were included in the price. We felt very pressured to move along without having our financial questions answered. We insisted on meeting with finance before we had anymore lab tests, etc done. I am glad we did because none of it was included in the base pay. Lied to straight to our face. IVF is emotional and expensive, we understood it would be expensive and were OK paying. We simply wanted to be told upfront what was and was not included and be treated with respect and not just as dollar signs. We were heartbroken and disappointed. We never even made it to the meeting with the doctor. When we would come in his assistant would sit on the computer and never look up from what she was doing, she hurried us along, interrupted our meeting with financial multiple times. We left the office and she yelled out after us if we still wanted to continue with care. No respect for privacy or the delicate nature of the business. We have since found another fertility clinic that has you(GASP) sit down with the the doctor before you have anything done, before you pay a dime, and discuss your plan of care and finances. You know what you are getting into and what it should cost. No smoke and mirrors. I would not recommend RMIA. But do not get discouraged! Good IVF clinics are out there!

This review is only for Dr. Pavelka at RMIA. This dude is amazing. I have never had a more attentive doctor. I didn’t even know that attentiveness was something I wanted in a doctor until I saw this guy. He will call you and give you the detailed results of every test, every procedure, and talk until every question is answered. Unbelievable. I did not stick with him only because I decided to move quickly on to IVF, which he does not do. A note in response to one of the other reviews — I don’t believe RMIA is the most expensive clinic around. RMIA, CRM, and the U are very similarly priced for a single round of IVF, though they have different offerings for«shared-risk»(pay one price for many cycles) plans.

They have two offices: in Edina and in Woodbury. We went to Edina, and here is what we saw. It’s by far the most expensive IVF place of all. You come to their office, it’s nearly empty, the wood is expensive, the assistant is pretty and quick, they give you like 4 lb. of paperwork to fill, they tell you it’s your responsibility to FAX them all exams you have done up to now, ASAP. They make you wait but not too long, all nice and sweet. It’s clear that you will be paying for all this… The doctor we saw was Colleen Casey, MD. Very strict, relatively young but experienced, and very forceful. It’s my way or a highway. If you have some prior medical problems — she nearly screamed: «an operation immediately», let’s cut out all those extra parts so we can shove a baby inside of you. Yuck. I had better experience at the H&R Block… Paying my hard earned big bucks for this — I think not. But I suppose if you are one of those Edina zillionaires with too much money and no time, with love for being bossed around and expensive furniture, and interested in a nice quiet family addition — this place is your dream come true…
