Wanted to like this place as it’s soo cute and I love a little sandwich and coffee shop. I realize as a small business they have to charge a bit more but for real, a $ 6.40 less than mediocre veggie sandwich is a bit ridiculous.

Even it was a cute little coffee shop I was not very impressed with the service. They seemed extremely unorganized. 15 minutes for a pre-made egg on an egg and cheese sandwich from a panini grill. Seemed a little expensive too for an egg and cheese.

This place is amazing. The ambiance is top notch: quiet, secluded tables, soft music, interesting(but not overwhelming décor). The prices are reasonable, and they loaded up my oatmeal with raisins, granola, yogurt, honey, and cranberries for no upcharge. The have gluten free bread for paninis and sandwiches. And really all that is second to just how sweet the people working were. The coffee tasted a little burnt, but, as weird as it seems, I could care less about the coffee of a coffee shop. The peach smoothie and oatmeal were outstanding. It gets an enthusiastic 5 stars.

Love the owner for her friendliness and how genuine she is! This place is seriously cute inside! However, my first mocha was just terrible. Ever since I’ve opted for tea. Don’t let that steer you away! They have a great lunch selection.

I fell in love with the scenery! Fireplace, lots of space inside and it was cozy and home like. Ordered a turtle mocha,(which was VERYGOOD) HOWEVER, the owner was VERY rude, uninviting and unfriendly. She ignored me and made me feel as if she didn’t want me there. A security guard walked in and she started up a conversation with him while making my drink and I felt so uncomfortable just standing off in the far distance waiting. I would rather spend 5 dollars for a 16 oz coffee somewhere that I feel welcomed. Altogether very uncomfortable experience… Won’t go back

The décor is downright eccentric and kooky — just like other reviewers have stated. I am always very happy when coffeeshops have more than just soy as a milk alternative. I got an almond milk café miel and it was pretty good. The espresso was a little bitter but definitely a lot better than some chains I’ve been to. The service was lovely. Definitely dripping with Minnesota Nice. I will definitely be back if I’m in the area.

Lucy’s stayed open a little late for me and hooked me up with some desperately needed caffeine and since I was having a really rotten night they warmed up my chocolate brownie(I am an emotional eater) and put it on a special plate for me and were scrambling around trying to find a candle to put on it in a further effort to cheer me up. Gotta love that kind of TLC on a Monday night!

I went in there with my husband and father-in-law on a weekday morning around 9:30. The food offerings were sparse(almost like it was the end of the day, not the beginning of the day) and ridiculously over priced. $ 3 for a scone that looked like it came from a package! We ordered 3 plain house coffees and paid well over $ 6 for them. All three of us took one sip of the coffee and got the same disgusted looks on our faces. The coffee tasted sour and bitter. It was the worst coffee I have ever had in my life. I think they must have used out of date coffee beans. We left immediately and threw out our coffees. I will not likely go back soon. I’ll go to the Dunn Bros near my daughter’s school and get a fresh roasted coffee($ 1.65) and scone($ 1.77). Much better quality and much more reasonable prices.

found this new little coffee shop today and loved the décor and seating areas… they pretty much have an area for anyone. A long eat at bar — big tables to spread your stuff out onto — little high tops with barstools… and even some occasional chairs by a tiny little gas fireplace… They carry mighty leaf tea and will make it the way you like it… I had a very delicious blueberry muffin and if was tasty… and fresh… The place is named for a big furry black dog(part Newfoundland) that passed away shortly after they opened…(sad!)… Love the little eclectic and eccentric details in the decorating…

Everyone said that the service at this place is great, the décor is kook-y, and the coffee is bad. All of those things were correct. The coffee was not good, the people working here are great, the décor is totally strange. But if you’re in the neighborhood and want to settle in with a book, I’d come back. Just maybe… order tea. Oh, and there is a $ 3 minimum on credit cards.

Not sure how this place has such good reviews. The location is great(I work in the area) but for a coffee shop, their coffee was pretty bad. Bitter and just plain not tasty. I am a coffee addict and will drink almost any sort of coffee, but I couldn’t finish my cup. The condiment bar with sugar and milk for your drinks was pretty dismal. No carafes for some half and half or 2%. I feel like if you can’t make good coffee at a coffee shop, you may want to try a little harder. This place is also overpriced. The staff is friendly and will recognize you, ask how you are, etc., which is nice. The décor is super tacky but it’s sort of cute – teal walls, weird trinkets everywhere. So, save for convenience and staff friendliness, not a winner.

Great spot, worth traveling. Good lunches and those mid-afternoon snack breaks. Egg Salad is great! Try the new breakfast sandwich… a great alternative to the McMuffin with real toasted bread! Fresh baked cookies, it’s all there! And to echo the other reviewers, Julie is the greatest hostess ever! Such a warm friendly place, I just love it!

Tune up the volume and make an escape to Lucy — it is destined to be a hit. I work in the area and I am here pretty much everyday because for such a small menu café, it’s close to perfection with an all around exceptional service that is gracefully always en pointe. The folks here are just sooo nice. A tiny act of altruism for someone you do not know is one thing but being this nice, this genuine is behavior that contradicts what we would expect evolution to produce. A décor suitable for a lounge but abundant styles give the impression that either I don’t know squat about color scheme or the place is struggling for an identity and the folks here haven’t made a final decision. Attentive service, great vibe, inviting and genuinely heartfelt smiles — the kinda café you wish was in every neighborhood.

I have been waiting for more coffee shop options on University that aren’t part of a large chain. Especially ones in the Midway area. We finally have one, on Fairview, across from the Goodwill Store, and owned by one of the nicest folks I’ve met in a long while. It’s a cute location. The atmosphere is warm, there is a wide variety of snacks and even lunch options. The espresso drinks I’ve had thus far have been dead-on perfect, and Lucy’s is already looking to be a gathering spot for the nonprofit community — due to the many offices located in Griggs-Midway Building. I’m keeping my fingers crossed this little café stays open a very long time :)
