Yup, closed. I did like their food. Too bad the crunchy bits may have been cockroaches!

This is not a review but more a newsflash that the health dept. closed this place down for roaches. It’s unclear whether it will ever be allowed to open again. At least two patrons have gotten sick, which spurred the investigations.

semi-Mediocre Americanized Chinese Food with no MSG and No trans fat. Perfect for college students on a tight budget or for people who aren’t picky when it comes to their Chinese food standards. Stop in and take advantage of the buffet special. Basically you grab a styrofoam box and fill it as much as you can for $ 5. If you have a college ID you get a free soda pop! There is a catch… the box MUST close or they’ll charge extra. So work on your tetris skills before you arrive. You can find me at Kim Huoy about once a month and that’s just because I live close by and have a monthly craving of semi-mediocre Americanized Chinese steamed potstickers.

The best I’ve ever had? No, but they have some pretty good egg foo young with a favorable gravy. It’s not too light and not too heavy. Cream cheese wontons, lemon chicken and sesame chicken are all good too. Online ordering, delivery, reasonable prices all a plus. Not a fan of them charging .35 for a container of hot mustard when so many places give it complimentary.

On the plus side, they deliver fast and for free, and the component parts of my meal were made up of fresh ingredients. On the minus side, everything was super bland. Does fast, free delivery(until midnight) outweigh bland as can be? Only you can answer that question. Three stars, barely.

«I’ve had better.» They have cockroaches!!! I remember eating their a couple times and a cockroach ran across the table. I felt sooo disgusted! They claim their buffet is the cheapest, true, but also true is that their quality is rather a little cheap. The food tastes rather bland. Their buffet is rarely fresh, the food sits out for hours. I always find crunchy pieces of rice in my fried rice and the cream cheese puffs are usually soft(this is probably the result from having the food sit out so long!) Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Fried rice soft and cream cheese puff crunchy? Anyway, the price is affordable but I guess«you get what you pay for». The good thing is that they deliver and delivery if free(with a coupon) and the wide selection and price makes it worthy for a try… They accept cash and credit, reservations, a good place for groups and kids. Inside the lights are really dimmed, booths and tables are available, the main colors inside are red and gold and black. They do not have any outdoor seating but the dining hall is large, it’s just one big square. :) Service is nice, parking is nice, the Owner is nice, rests rooms are nice, its overall nice but I would never go there again.

My boyfriend was driving home from work today and noticed a car in our ‘hood with the words«freechinesedelivery.com» written on the side… so, since we were both hungry and the fridge was looking bare, we had to check out the website. It takes you to Kim Huoy Chor’s reputable looking website where you can order Chinese food online for delivery! Cool! We didn’t order online because I had 5 million questions about the menu(because it’s super vague). The person I spoke to on the phone was nice and helpful. We ended up ordering a small order of the stir fried tofu with vegetables and a small order of the Mandarin mock duck. Both came with a side of white rice. After about 35 minutes, our order arrived to the door by a friendly and courteous driver. The food was good. Not great… but good. The tofu was a hit because it wasn’t oily and the veggies were still crisp. The mock duck dish was too oily for my tastes, but the mock duck’s texture was quite delightful. Would we order from here again? Probably, because it’s inexpensive and convenient. Their selection of vegan things is pretty small though, so it’s not going on the regular rotation.

I had my first experience with Kim Huoy Chor last night, and it wasn’t the best. I was staying in a local hotel and had some food delivered. The prices were good, and my order was delivered in a timely manner. The food wasn’t bad at all, although nothing out of the ordinary, and I would order from there again just based on the food. The problem came when I got back to my room from the lobby. I opened the bag to find that there were no utensils. No spoon for the soup, no fork for my General Tso’s chicken, and no chopsticks. I immediately called the restaurant to let them know, only to discover they no longer had much interest in me. I guess they figured they already had their money. When I asked if they could bring some to me before my food got cold, the response was«We’re really busy right now, so it’s gonna take quite awhile.» I told them I thought they should bring it anyway, but they never came. I guess they just forgot. I eventually got some utensils from the hotel and enjoyed some lukewarm soup and room temperature chicken. I might be willing to give this place one more try, but they’re on probation with me.
