I called in a couple of weeks ago and tried to redeem a gift certificate to learn that they were under new ownership and were not honoring any gift certificates. The pizza that arrived at my door was blah. Different crust or ingredients, but the end result is Grampa Tony’s is off my list.

Not bad, but very dry! Pizza should have sauce on it. I get really irritated when Pizza places are chinsy with the sauce.

Pizza was definitely solid, looking forward to checking out more of their menu. Nothing out of the ordinary, but good. I am slightly confused by the shirtless guy in their ads and menus. Is this Grandpa Tony? Is he making my pizza? Is he shirtless when he makes my pizza? I sure hope not… The pizza is good, but the shirtless guy is distracting.

Pretty decent pizza of the thin-crust variety. The sauce is a tad bland but they have every topping I’d want(pineapple — I’m PI, what can I say?) so I am happy. I like the digs… very clean with an odd assortment of memorabilia plastering the walls.

We drove past this place, went in with low expectations, and were quite pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent, the food delicious, and the wine tasty and cheap. The menu is comprised of pizza, pasta, salad, and sandwiches. You can get almost everything with either their red sauce or their pesto sauce. I went for the baked lasagna with the red sauce. Delicious, with a large amount of cheese, and crispy around the edges. You also had the option to get this with Italian sausage. The pasta came with a salad and ample amounts of garlic bread. My husband had the mostacciolli with extra cheese. When you pay for the extra cheese, they don’t mess around. The portion sizes are not for the weak — we both brought at least half of our meals home with us. Pricing for each pasta was around $ 8 to $ 10. The wine list is small, but decent, and reasonably priced. We had a carafe for $ 10 and were quite happy. The décor consists of old pictures of singers, athletes, and movie stars. The service was impeccable — incredibly friendly, helpful with questions, and prompt. It may have helped that we were the only table in there, but it was 3pm on a Saturday.

Grampa Tony? I like what you’ve done with your hoagies. Okay, so I can’t say I’ve tried your pizza. But when your hoagies enters my mouth, saliva oozes out, drips on my sweater, and desiccates, until I warm it up and sip it off. I think your location is superb as well. I’ve always found snelling avenue to be a great place to rock out your food. Besides, I think you are right by Little Caesers – knock out one of their teeths! I remember once getting a sandwich to go, just to sneak it into a movie down on the theater on Cleveland Ave. Let’s just say, I heard a lot of «Mmmm», «Shhhh!!», and«We gotta grab something to eater the show!» Just remember, that is all you baby, All you! Now, you lost a point for being over the top on collecting celebrity photographs. Hey, I think it’s rad that you have a hobby. And quite frankly, or I should say, Tony, it’s impressive that you some really famous people’s signatures. But it sort of looks gaudy at times. Nevertheless, if you are feeling like a movie and sandwich, I recommend a Hoagie from Grampa Tony’s Pizza and a flick at the Cleveland Ave Theater.

This place is the real deal. Grampa Tony’s is a little Italian restaurant that has been right under my nose all of these years. I can’t believe I’ve never been! First of all, the interior of this place is very quaint. The walls are adorned with countless pictures of movie and rock stars, and you name it. I ordered myself a veggie thin crust pizza from the, might I say, very friendly waitress. Not too long later, considering they’re made to order, I received what would be my new favorite pizza. The crust was crispy and delicious! The pizza was overflowing with toppings, which I love to see. There was plenty of cheese and what I fear most, the excessive over-application of sauce, was absent on this pizza; just enough to let you know it’s there. Good show, Grampa Tony, good show. This officially is my new destination when the pizza craving hits.

Been coming here for years– 20+! I love the thin, crispy crust, the perfectly-spiced sauce and fresh, abundant toppings. I always end up comparing every other pizza I’ve had with Grampa Tony’s. If that’s not the hallmark of a great ‘za, then I don’t know what is.

Not a fan! I was sadly disappointed after reading the rave reviews and then I got my pizza… I ordered hot sausage, hot peppers and garlic on the pan pizza. The sausage was on the only good part, the peppers were horrible, toooo much garlic(and I love garlic), little/no sauce and too much cheese.

Even though we have our favorite pizza haunts, you still need variety, and need for different flavors. This place should definitely be on your stand-by list. You won’t believe the amount and quality of sausage that goes on this. No pizza hut turds. A delicious pizza sauce. It was the first time I ever had a square cut pizza. Never left overs.

I contemplated giving four stars for the delay and long wait on my order, however one of the cooks and I shared a good laugh so I’ll just stick with 5 stars. Great wings, great pizza, great staff. I’m not sure why people would even bother going to Little Caesars across the street other then the fact that it’s closer to the liquor store and you can get some preprocessed garbage in a box for $ 5. Tony’s is worth the extra wait and cost and is loaded with grease, which is good for you, don’t let the FDA tell you otherwise as I eat here all the time and am considered underweight. The pizza here is always done just right; not too much sauce, not too much cheese, but just right. Take a date here, the pictures on the wall are a wonderful conversation piece.

GT’s is right across the street from my apartment building and my father and I went there after moving me into my unit. We were thoroughly impressed and had a wonderful dining experience. The waitress was bubbly and helpful. She brought us menus right away and told us about the specials. Our water was brought within the first 5 minutes. She took our drink orders shortly after that and gave us ample time to browse the menu and answer questions. Our meals were hot and fresh when we got them. Before the main course we were served a ginormous basket of some of the best garlic bread that I have ever had. My lasagna was just as good. No, better. The best part was that it wasn’t too expensive and I had an whole second meal’s worth of leftovers. They seem to be only open for dinner, which is a little sad because sometimes I get the urge to chow down on their food during the middle of the day.

i used to live 4 short blocks from this center of pizza heaven. and, am surprised more people are not fanatical about the pizza at this joint. it’s a straight mom n pop shop that’s got a pizza pie of it’s on accord. no other pizza around is quite like it. go with the chicago style, no matter what you get, and you will find heaven in the homemade sausage that comes with the sauce…(get it spicy if you like it hot) i miss you grandpa tony.
