Not much to say. This is Chinese food from a can. They have a couple tables but really it’s carry out only. I ordered and the food all came out packed up as though you could ship it overseas, even though they knew I was staying there. Nutz– Food was very OK but nothing more. I won’t be back, but wanted to try.

I consider myself very fortunate to work near to this amazing place. The food is excellent! I cannot believe how good the prices are. I get lunch, enough for 2 days for $ 7.50. I don’t normally care for egg rolls, these are the exception. They are delicious. Owners are kind and they make you feel like your business is important to them. Highly recommend this deliciousness.

This place was horrible. Someone said best place in eagan. That may be true, doesn’t make it good. The portions do not match the price. Deep fried chicken is dark meat. Peking may have white but I know the sweet and sour is dark and probably similar deep fried chickens(Orange, general tso, sesame). The sweet and sour sauce was bland and not good. The chicken in garlic sauce was bland and not good. The egg rolls had hardly(if any) meat. The oil used to fry food is old(my wife used to manage a fast food restaurant and knows how to tell from color of the food). The rice seemed old, not sure if cause is old or not cooked right. Chicken lo mein was ok. And if you are forced to eat here get the Mongolian beef as that was actually kind of good and was the first and only dish we ate all of. The rest of the food we had leftovers of and decided to trash it rather then save it. Will never o back and recommend you don’t too.

What a tease… After reading all of these fabulous reviews, I called to order. No delivery! :(Disregard the delivery option on the Unilocal profile.

Just tried this place for the first time tonight. I had orange chicken, fried rice and cream cheese wantons. My husband and I got the same and the total was about $ 25. The woman who took my phone order and my payment was really kind. From the time I called to the time I had my dinner, it had been about 15 min. While waiting, there were a handful of others who came in to order so I could tell this place got steady business. The food was pretty good. I think the chicken was a little overdone and the breading was kind of crunchy, but the flavor was good. The rice although no veggies was also good. Nothing over the top amazing, but I’d definitely consider it the best option for take out Chinese in Eagan. I’ll plan on trying them at least one more time to see how their other entrees taste. Give them a try!

If you think you have a taste for somewhat authentic Chinese, then don’t bother. The price is a bit high, too.

The food here is great and the wait is never very long, their chicken is crispy and delicious. As pretty much everyone has said, you get enough food for you money with leftovers and all, a great place to go if you’re looking for something less mainstream than panda express, better food too!!!

I worked right next door to this place for several years. It was literally a ten second walk to swing in and pick up an order for lunch or dinner. Needless to say, I’ve had a lot of food from Golden Star. They make your typical Americanized Chinese food but it’s delicious. I don’t think I had anything from them that I didn’t like. As Norton pointed out in his review, their combo meals can last over two meals and are just as good as leftovers(and to top it off, they’re relatively inexpensive). Their individual orders are large enough to be several meals as well. An order per person in a large group usually ended up providing enough leftovers for myself for days. The service is as good as the food(usually). The owners of the place are the nicest people one could order food from. They hired a girl that I can’t say the same thing about. The couple of times I’ve ordered food from her, she was abrasive and tended to get annoyed by anything I did. Oh well. Not a big deal. In short, I’m a fan. Good prices and great food = my patronage.

I’m deathly afraid of mom and pop shopping mall Chinese restaurants. I have never had a good experience with one. Fortunately for Golden Star, they were introduced to me while I was at work. One of my co-workers ordered from Golden Star a few years ago and I was still afraid enough that I didn’t order from them. But he was generous enough to let me taste the orange chicken he picked up and I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was crisp, the orange flavor tasty(and a little spicy – always a plus) and it was a generous portion for a lunch special. You might wonder how I remember all that from years ago. It’s because I’ve ordered it a lot ever since. Their lunch specials come with an egg roll and fried rice and all for less than $ 7. It’s quite a deal given that most of the office ends up using it for two meals. I haven’t gotten anything other than their orange chicken because I love it so much, but the consensus here in the office that any of their lunches are good. The fried rice that comes with the lunches aren’t the greatest, but their egg rolls are fabulous. They are big, crunchy, and tasty. I could eat a couple of them myself and have resisted asking my co-workers for them when I see them wanting to throw them away. Given that they are fried, they are a bit greasy, but I still love them. The restaurant itself is take-out only. The entrance is only about 12′ by 6′ and there is one small table with the daily paper, presumably for you to keep yourself occupied while waiting for your order, not to sit down and eat. The little holes-in-the-wall, under-the-staircase kinds of restaurants in Hong Kong and Chinatowns can almost always be guaranteed to be good. But in the Midwest, it’s completely the opposite. It’s nice that I can be proven wrong once in a while and to find a little gem in the middle of American suburbia.
