I’m giving the food, the staff and the atmosphere a five with a caveat for speed. The shrimp tacos are life changing. The corn tortillas are perfectly soft and warm, the shrimp sweet, the onions sweet, and the cabbage crunchy, the cheese tangy. The speed, however. Is frustratingly slow. Just getting your beer seems too take too long. By worth ut.

My wife and I stopped in Saturday for a simple lunch: tacos, beans and rice. Oh, and chips and guac too. We had four different corn tacos. They were wonderful: pork, steak, shredded beef, and chorizo. The fresh made guac was the best we’ve ever had. Rice and beens good too. All in all, we will return in spite of the 20 minute drive. Their good food and friendly hospitality is well worth the small effort of driving. We’ll try more dishes next time, expecting that they’ll be just as delicious. By the way, the table was spotless and was the remainder of the restaurant.

If you like authentic Mexican food then keep on going. Food is bland and badly cooked

The inside of this restaurant is so dirty I can’t even imagine what the kitchen looks like! I ordered the Pazole and it was so hot I burnt my tounge! The whole building needs to be condemned. The bathroom was also disgusting and dirty. Please save your money and go elsewhere!

An authentic Mexican restaurant that has been Americanized to create an comfortable experience for all. You order like a fast food place and your food is delivered to your table. The room is large, clean and bright. The owner who takes your order is the example of perfect customer service. Friendly, informative and inviting. We ordered the steak and eggs platter with rice and beans. It surprised us how much flavor was packed in this dish. We will be back for the #2 platter again. The two soft shell tacos were excellent. These are not Taco Bell tacos. These are real meat in a homemade flour or corn tortilla. Parking is in a large lot in front of the main door. On our way out the owner thanked us and wished us a wonderful night. His words were from his heart. Very kind. We will be back.

El Taquito offers all the expected elements of a family-owned Mexican restaurant: a wall-sized mural, Spanish-language soap operas, and an friendly, adorable family. It also offers some of the tasiest tacos you’ll find in the Twin Cities. There are 11 varieties of tacos and I expect to experience them all over time. During this visit, I sampled the beef cheek tacos and chorizo tacos. i was afraid that the chorizo taco would be greasy, or grainy, as it is in many restaurants — but it was excellent. It has a great contrast to the tender and subtly-flavored beef cheek tacos. All were served on soft and fresh corn torillas with a side of onions and cilantro. The absence of cheese isn’t missed. Tacos were priced individually at less than $ 2 each, but the portions are small. You’ll want to order 4 – 5 tacos of you have a modest appetite. And, although a bit pricey, it wouldn’t be crazy to try one of each. You can get an enchilada plate with beans and rice for less than $ 10. These were also delicious. There are many Mexican restaurants to try in the Robert Street neighborhood, so it may be awhile until I return to El Taquito… but i will return. I’ll aslo keep an eye for their food truck during the summer season in St Paul.

Too pricey if you ask me. Ordered tacos. Had to pay $.50 extra for some cheese and another $ 1 for a little bit of pico! The food was Not horrible but definitely nothing to talk about. Wont be going back here anytime soon. Or probably ever for that matter. Save your money and go to El Burrito right down the street. Way better food and much more bang for your buck!

This little hole-in-the-wall has probably the best tacos hands down! I remember the first time we stopped in their some time last summer, we ordered their pork, pastor and tinga tacos and wanted to keep eating them and not leave. Corn tortilla, amazing meat, cilantro and onions and that’s it! Oh, you mean there’s no cheese, lettuce, sour cream and salsa on that taco? No, that’s what Americans do! Don’t get me wrong, I like those additions too, but only sometimes. I’d much rather have it in it’s authentic form. We’ll be going back for the cabeza taco’s for sure. That’s beef cheek and it’s amazing!

Great little place with fantastic burritos. They always include huge portions for very little money. Friendly staff, and bright atmosphere with Aztec murals on the walls and tv’s blaring Univision. For fantastic authentic Mexican food give it a try.

Our favorite Mexican place in the twin cities. They do an authentic Mexican style food not tex mex! Do not expect to sit down and get a free thing of chips. You order at the front counter and they bring your food to you. Their rice is always fluffy and flavorful. Their beans always have a good consistency, texture and flavor. My personal favorites are their enchiladas which can be made with any of the meat selections(carnitas is yummy!). The verde sauce has a nice bite to it. The other favorite is their tamales which are pork and come made with either rojo or verde sauce. My husband loves their carnitas plate. Their burritos are enormous and very reasonably priced. They are very friendly and even have a drive through window.

The chicken and carnitas soft tacos are awesome. Dressed with onion, cilantro and hot sauce. Love them. You can order the meat by the lb if you call ahead for catering. It was a huge hit at my last event.

This place must be a money laundering front for a Mexican Cartel, or they couldn’t have stayed in business for so long. My enchiladas weren’t even served warm. Take the advice of the person who said if you have a Groupon, just take the hit and don’t go. I’m giving two stars, because I don’t feel sick, just yet.

We had a Groupon to use up so tonight we ventured in, very leary, considering no one was there. This is at 6:30 on a Friday night… Not a good sign. I immediately thought of that show Restaurant Impossible when I walked in. It looks like it could have great potential but its just struggling. The menu was pretty basic and we both just settled on cheese enchiladas. We also asked for chips and salsa but we never got them. Once i tasted the food, I really did not care if I had the chips and salsa. The food was barely warm, the cheese inside the enchiladas wasn’t completely melted, and enchilada sauce was out of a can. Lettuce on top was old and I make better cheese enchiladas hands down. The people who own it seem nice but the food needs major improvement. I will never go there again. I have felt sick all night after eating there, seriously… Bad Bad Choice… Let me give you some advice if you have a Groupon — Stay home! Just let it go for the $ 10 you paid. Its honestly not worth it.

Al pastor taco was borderline inedible. Why did it look like it was marinaded in cherry Kool-Aid? And why doesn’t the taco come with double corn tortillas? The one corn tortilla just breaks apart. I had to eat here because nothing else was open late at night. I should’ve saved myself the stomach ache and gone to bed hungry

I recommend the Beef with peppers and jalepenos, but the chicken was all right. Like many Latino places, there was a TV blaring inside, but it worked out fine because we ate on the patio. It ain’t Shangrila, a very narrow concrete patio fronting the strip mall parking lot, but it was an ok place to hang out with the kids and make lots of little tacos out of the generous meals we got. Everyone else there seemed to be native to Latin American countries, doesn’t mean the food is good or «authentic,» just FYI. But like almost every Latino restaurant I’ve been to the Cities, the guy who took my order spoke fluent English. For pete’s sake, where do I have to go in this town to find an immigrant restaurant where they don’t speak my language? As an American, isn’t this my right?

I’m in a big search for good tacos and tried out this place after seeing it FORYEARS when I used to live here. Tacos were more like street tacos that I’m used to, but LARDCITYUSA. Holy crap man, just really soggy and greasy. :( The search continues…
