This café’s been around for years and the food is generally okay. What’s really changed is the customer service. If u have low self esteem and want to be ignored or disregarded this is the place for you! The staff always seem really edgey and unhappy and there is seldom enough help. I suspect the owners no longer have an interest in the place anymore and that’s why it is the way it is now. It used to be great!

We just had a take out order from DAYBYDAY and the food and quality was awful. It was cold and the rice was undercooked sticky clump. They delayed our order because the stated they were short in help. Until they get their act together and don’t rip off the customers with excuses. We paid $ 10 each for our meal. Never again. They should be embarrassed to serve such poor service and quality. And the hard cheese and soggy soaked bread called a grill cheeses was almost uneatable. Can’t even make a decent grilled cheese was another cost we work in the same block and will go another direction in the future

This café had a big private room which was very nice for our large group. On the plus side, the cafés neighborhood and Decore was very artistic. The food was good. The staff was friendly. On the minus side, the chairs were not as comfortable as I would prefer. The bathroom had a weird towel dispenser thing in the men’s bathroom. I would’ve preferred paper towels. Also some of the other guests seemed a little on the gritty side. Gritty can be good; so if that’s your thing, give this place a try.

Delicious breakfast! Fun eclectic environment. There are a wide array of toys to keep the little ones occupied but they are displayed as decorations when not in use so they add to the overall look. Lovely patio. Great pick for adults and kids alike.

The one star is generous. We literally just left this extremely subpar establishment. Our breakfast was delivered cold. Everything was cold or room temperature. The pancake we ordered didn’t have enough heat to melt the butter. The waitress didn’t return to check on us after dropping off our meal. After 10 minutes, I had to go find her. Because we had a schedule to keep, we didn’t have time to sit around any longer and wait for a remake. They offered to box it up with a 50% discount. Why do people wait in line to go to this place?

Do I dare say that I found a better Burger than shamrocks? God no, but day by day is on a whole Nother level. Medium well burger with brie caramelized onions and delish bun! My friends and I sat outside on the balcony/porch it is so dang nice out I couldn’t help it. They have a view that is top notch and a beautiful pond with the fountain. All the staff are really cool and helpful and even want me to work part time there to help out on the weekends, heck yes! anyways back to my food! The burger was super juicy and delicious and the brie was a dang good complement with caramelized onions it melted in your mouth. I love going to day by day not only for the food but because of their awesome work ethic and amazing people. Go check it out you will miss out if you don’t!

Worst place regarding waitress that had clearly failed a class in ANGER Management. Eating breakfast and found something hard in my mouth with the scrambled eggs. It was a hunk from a china cup, which was really a huge turn off. I called the waitress over(she said her dad owned the place) and she became BALLISTIC. How dare I question their place(yes, she saw the hunk of china and quickly took it from me). There was no cost of the meal removed, I paid to find a broken piece of china in my mouth and did not finish the food but I did get to hear her rant and do a complete damaged girl act. Go figure, this is the time they apologize instead she made outrageous statements about me in front of my daughter!!! She added to it by following us out of the restaurant and making threats if I told anyone… weirdest restaurant experience ever. This place ought to be closed and she needs an in patient unit.

The Day-By-Day café is combination of quaint and quirky. They provide all-day breakfast which is a bonus for me – even if they don’t offer biscuits and gravy — a winter menu favorite. The menu has a lot of simple items prepared with fresh ingredients and plenty of vegan, vegitarian, paleo options. I ordered the lo-carb breakfast plate with 4-eggs, meat, cheese and veggies. It also included fresh fruit. They serve Dunns Bros coffee, but brew it a bit weak for my taste. Service is likely to be inconsistent. The servers are friendly, but service can be slow — or stretched to their server-to-tables ratio limit. During a recent ‘seat yourself’ visit, I sat in one location for 5 minutes without being noticed by a server. I moved to a more visible spot and remained unnoticed — When I eventually approached the server, she was apologetic and waited on me without delay. The biggest attraction of the Day-By-Day for me is the outdoor seating area. It look like the perfect destination for weekend breakfast — and it’s dog friendly. WORTHCELEBRATING: The Day-By-Day Café has been deemed ‘informal headquarters for the Twin Cities’ sober community.’

Great atmosphere, good for kids, wonderful food, wonderful service… I can’t say enough good things about this place! We will be definitely coming back! The portions are huge. My 3 and 5 year old were able to split the Mickey pancake and a side of eggs. I had the raspberry cream cheese stuffed french toast and could only eat half the thing. I like their artsy feel. My kids were immediately drawn to the 2 fish tanks and that Spiderman was in one of them. :-) This place stands out from other local places. You can tell they enjoy making it a place people will enjoy being.

Best breakfast in St. Paul. I have been there many times and no matter what I’ve ordered, it’s been super. Don’t listen to the nonsense about Buttered Tin. This place is way better and cheaper.
