I’ve been here a couple of times. From the outside it looks a lot nicer than most of the other bars on Arcade, but this place would make most people nervous. At night there is a uniformed St. Paul cop with a metal detector at the door. They have closed circuit televisions at the bar, so the bartender can see the parking lot, the back room and the bathrooms to make sure no one is fighting, using/selling drugs, etc. On the plus side, its pretty cheap. I believe my Miller Light cost me $ 1.50. I think most items on their drink menu were $ 1.50. There were a few pool tables in back. Don’t agree to play Tron in a game. He will make you bet whatever you have in your pocket on the game. He is also much better once their is money riding on the game. Although you might feel uneasy at Cab’s, it is probably one of the least likely places for a serious fight, with all of the security… that is until you are walking back to your car. One of these days, I’ll arrange a Payne/Arcade pub crawl on Unilocal. It should be fun.
