The food was fantastic, I walked into this place by accident and thought it was going to be another regular café area, but I was shocked it was delicious greatly priced and it has big portions, the waiters are also very attentive. 5⁄5

Came here for breakfast a month ago and it was pretty good. Today I decided to try their lunch menu and ended up extremely disappointed. I ordered the grilled chicken with white rice and black beans with sweet plantains. The chicken was way over cooked and dry, the beans looked and tasted like they were just taken out of the can, and the rice was undercook. I came in the waiter asked me if I was familiar with Cuban food, they are obviously not good at it. Again, I think their breakfast is pretty good. Go someplace else for lunch.

I am from Tampa and the breakfast Cuban was the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The Cuban bread was fresh and pressed to perfection. Café Con Leche was delish.

Nice little sandwich and salad café on «the oldest street» in the oldest city in our young country. Our server was a bright and cheerful young lady who recommended a nice salad dressing to go with our order of a Cuban sandwich and a chicken & avocado salad. The sandwich was excellent and I will want to compare this to one nearer Miami as we drift south. Nice Cuban music in a colorful setting in a beautiful old Spanish town.

My wife and I both wanted to give this place a try during our stroll down Aviles st. We both got the Cuban sandwich with a side. The sandwich was well prepared and plenty to eat! Easily shareable for two, and the price was not ridiculous for the amount of food you get.

I own my own hauling company and had a delivery of a few church pews for the museum across the street. My point of contact hadn’t arrived yet so I walked over here for some coffee but decided to get breakfast also. I ordered the cheapest breakfast they had, $ 8. 2 eggs, bacon, roasted potatoes, and toast. Plus $ 2 for coffee. So $ 10 overall. For $ 10 worth of breakfast I was expecting to be full when I was done. I was sadly mistaken. Where I’m from, rural NC, a $ 10 breakfast is hard to finish. 2 eggs… self explanatory. Bacon… the standard highschool 3 slices. Roasted potatoes…(this is where I was highly disappointed)…a half of a red potato. A half. The food was good. But not a great value. I left still hungry. I delivered my church pews and went and got some donuts to finish filling me up. Would not go back here.

We came to La Herencia for brunch and it was delicious! We ordered the Guajiro which was an omelette on Cuban bread topped with pulled pork, black beans salsa, and cheese. It came with a choice of a side and we chose the fried plantains! Yummy! The restaurant is located on a cute side street off a side street from the main plaza. It has a casual atmosphere and is not a very large place. The service was quick and the staff was very friendly. A great find!

Food tasted great. Ropa de Vieja and pork roast. Portions were not large but adequate and price was good at $ 13. Sangria was just okay; lots of ice and not much fruit or wine flavor for the red. Waiter said they were out of candles for the tables. He brought water for the dogs.

Excellent authentic Cuban food. I had the Ropa Veija and my boyfriend, the traditional Cuban sandwich. Both came w black beans and rice and I had plantains. Service was excellent and quick. Just be aware, that some days they are not open for dinner!

I’m surprised the reviews are so-so. Man, our experience could not have been better. The black beans and rice were incredible. So was the lechon asada. The server was so great I left 40%, which I don’t think I have ever done. The setting(we sat outside) was charming.(Oldest street in America, or so they say).

We stopped in for breakfast. My husband had the Guajiro and I had the black bean and feta over egg. Both were delicious. Service was efficient and friendly.

This was the first time visiting Aviles street and I had to stop here. I’m so glad I did. The staff were very nice professional and helpful. The owner/chef was so humble and down to earth. He came outside to see how my meal was and I told him he did not disappoint:-) very nice authentic food. Great portion sizes. They cook with love.

La herencia is located on Aviles St right off of kings st. I almost missed it twice. It is a really small café that seats maybe 15 inside and three tables outside. Its a quaint little café that i had higher expectations from. I got to la herencia around noon for a late breakfast. I got the omelet with feta cheese, avocados and tomatoes. I liked the concept and was excited to eat it. However it was really bland. The avocados didn’t taste fresh, it had grey spots on it. I wish the avocado was seasoned maybe? It needed more salt as well, an excusable mistake. It came with wheat toast and butter. Service was okay and my server checked up on me twice. Nothing special and overall not a place i would revisit

Lovely little café on the side of King Street we had not explored before. I love this little strip this restaurant is located in. Great little shops and galleries on either side. We first learned on this place on PBS about 2 years ago. And they still brag about in on the menus and boards. We tried the«main» Cuban toast and pork with egg dish. It was super tasty, hot and fresh. Really good. The coffee is awesome. As were the sweet plantains. We tried the Cuban flan for a dessert and it was dense and delicious. I really liked this place and look forward to coming back to sample more!

Great little spot for Cuban food on Aviles St. in the middle of Historic St. Augustine. Nothing fancy but good, solid food. Decided to stop here for a quick and late lunch while exploring the area. It was rather empty so I’m sure we missed the lunch crowd. We chose to sit inside even though outdoor seating is available. The menu is simple and straightforward. Each of the lunch entrees comes with a side. My husband had the roasted pork sandwich while I went with the chicken cilantro wrap. Both of us had the black beans and rice as our side dish. Food was very good and obviously made to order. My wrap was really good with lots of cilantro flavor which I loved. The black beans and rice were yummy. I could’ve just had a bowl of it as my meal. There were 2 servers which I think was sufficient for the amount of diners in the restaurant. We were pretty satisfied with the customer service and how quick our meal came out. Also– if you happen to buy tickets to the Red Train Trolley tours– they give a 10% off discount off sandwiches when you show your tickets.
