Athens is an old time staple restaurant in the heart of Safety Harbor. The food is Clea, home cooking you would expect on a Sunday morning at grandmas house! They are open only for breakfast & lunch. The waitstaff are always pleasant & knowledgeable & restaurant is clean.

Its a shame that I feel I have to write such s negative review however, here I am. When walked in & were seated. It was very busy in there this was clear. After about 10 minutes, I walked up to the counter to see who our server was… Then a server came up and confronted us very abruptly stating that«I’m sorry guys but as you can see we are very busy». We said we understood however, I did say«wow» as I was shocked that she would speak to us in he manner that she did. She confronted me due to my remark and j told her that I understood they were very busy and we’ve been severs before but she didn’t need to speak to us like that. She then continued to arguing with me so we decided to leave. She said«good!». Who says that to a customer. When I approached the counter to speak to the manager I was informed by the same server that she was the manager AND owner!!! This is how she treats her customers!!! Unfortunately, she lost 4 — 8 customers by her actions and will not recommend this establishment.

My wife and I had breakfast here. We ate outside with our dogs. It was nothing fancy-I ordered eggs and home fries and my wife ordered a ham and egg sandwich. Both were good, not greasy at all. Service was great. That’s all I need for breakfast.

I wanted to grab breakfast at a small local place. It is a nice old fashioned nothing fancy diner. The servers were ok… reading some of the other reviews… I agree they are not super friendly hover over you… but the are nice, quick, and what I would say is diner friendly. I ordered the Greek feta omelet and home fries. It came out quick snd hot. I think the taste was ok… but a little bland. I gauge blandness if I need to add any salt and pepper. The omlete needed a little extra salt and pepper. The home fries needed some crystal/tobasco sause. I will go back again.

Excellent little diner. We eat here 3 times a month and have yet to have bad food or service. Good always comes out quick and is fresh. You cannot beat the atmosphere of Main Street in safety harbor.

Stopped in there tonight for dinner, as we are looking for a home in the area. We ordered one of the daily specials which was hungarian goulash. it came with a cup of soup, We ordered the lemon rice soup and it was just ok. the rice was very over cooked in it and the soup was more like gravy thickness. Dinner then arrives and it was served in a soup bowl. it had 5 inch cubes of beef, about a cup of stewed tomatoes with onions and peppers and maybe just maybe ½ cup of noodles if that. The flavor was like eatiing stewed tomaotes out of the can warmed up. We hadn’t eaten all day, we were very dissapointed as we thought this was a cute homey looking place. We wouldn’t go back again.

Decided to try a new restaurant and support local business in my area, bad idea. My daughter and I ventured into the Athens hoping for a great meal. The food was bland at best. Upon our exit, we indicated a thumbs down and the owner who is also the cook yelled«your the first person to say this». OK… sorry but just being honest. She then asked where we usually go in town and we said Paradise diner. She yelled through the kitchen window, «well go there next time». The employees all just put their heads down. I felt so bad for them as I could tell it wasn’t the first time. I said to the owner that she was not being very professional and she said«your just looking for a free meal»…really? Paying was not the problem. I am sorry our honesty has made you so angry but you won’t be in business long with that attitude. As a long time resident of Safety Harbor I urge you all to stay far away from this mediocre food and extremely nasty owner. Scary experience being verbally attacked for honesty!

Honestly, this is like one of those, «It’s cheap enough so who cares» kind of places. I went once for breakfast and once for lunch. Both times it disappointing. The pancakes, are well, very dry, tastes worse than bisquik mix and has that floury taste of poorly beat batter that has no milk or egg in it. The service was horrible, kind of like being served by a mean annoyed mother on PMS. Most of their ingredients come from a can. I commend these folks for being honest, since they proudly display jumbo sized cans of ingredients in their visible kitchen and fridge. Don’t go out of your way for them. Spare yourself. Cracker barrel is much better! As for the lunch. Well, I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki and the chicken was very dry and bland. I had to use tons of tzaziki to be able to down half of this crap. If you want a decent breakfast experience in the area, go to Lennys. It’s 10 mins from there and the breakfast, environment, service and free pastries are worth it!

I always get the same thing. Gyro, feta, pepperoccini omelet with tzaziki on the side and home potatoes with grilled onions. Food is always fast, they are very friendly, food is good usually. Watch the butter on the toast. They do drench it. The open hours aren’t very late, breakfast and lunch only.

Sign in the wall is accurate. ‘Our coffee is so good’ Five stars for the best cup of coffee in the area. Anyone can cook an egg, I come here for the coffee!

Ducked in to meet a local politician and talk social and digital marketing. Quaint and stuck in time, love the Greek murals. The flatware is flat and dated and cheap. Located in quaint Safety Harbor, I would enjoy more time here. Raisin toast is what I ate. It was toast and had raisins. Tiny little coffee cups. Time for a brand refresh.

Good, cheap eats can be found here. Some menu suggestions: the Greek salad with chicken on the side, turkey BLT, and raisin bread french toast. They also do eggs & homefries pretty well too so you won’t leave hungry. We love the comedic routine of one of their servers Judy. She’s a fun kind of sassy & smart so go there just for the free entertainment if nothing else lol They have a few tables out front for smokers and pet owners. We hear that there’s a new trolley service that runs from Dunedin to Safety Harbor with a quick stop at Countryside Mall. This might be a nice little day trip for tourists or locals without the hassle of trying to find parking.

Good diner breakfast on Main Street in Safety Harbor. They serve real bacon, good pancakes, and eggs at good prices. The service was good and the waitress was friendly. They were getting overwhelmed by the time we left and I heard one waitress tell the girl at the counter she was useless. Lovely.

If you are looking for fine dining or fancy breakfast pancakes, this ain’t the place for you. But, if you are looking for a quick, tasy breakfast while traipsing around Safety Harbor, this is your spot. My boyfriend and I frequent this little diner for breakfast and are never disappointed. It’s inexpensive and the staff is always very friendly. Sure the place is a little dated, but what local breakfast diner isn’t? We keep saying we’re going to actually eat Greek food here, but we never do. We love the eggs and bacon meal and they have pretty decent coffee. It may not be Bob Evans, but it’s almost as good.

I really miss the ‘greasy spoon’ type restaurants of the Northeast. If you’re with me, you gotta try out this place. Great place for weekend brunch. Food is basic but good. Fried eggs. Pancakes. French toast. Biscuits and gravy. Steak and eggs. Awesome! And it’s right in Downtown Safety Harbor which makes for a great place to ‘walk it off’ after eating so much you need a minute before heading home!

The husband-wife team are a charming comedy act. We love them. We go to this place when we’re in town visiting my retired father. He’s a frequent visitor and has gotten to know the owners very well. We typically catch breakfast and it’s good. Service is fast, friendly and reasonably priced. It’s also conveniently located.
