Tried the Restorative Yoga Class at 10:30 this morning and even though it was a 35 min drive it was well worth it. I went because I had a groupon, and I have 3 more classes here and I can definitely say I’ll be back. I liked this class especially because it was more meditative and easy going and reminded me of Kundalini Yoga. Good for all ages too! Can’t wait to try it again! PS they also have a $ 10 student discount which is great because I’m an Adult College/Grad student so I will definitely be a Shree Regular!!!

I am OLD! But being older is not bad when you have practiced yoga for a while. The advantages of yoga in aging are multifold and known to most. The advantages of Shree Yoga in Saddle River are only known to those who take classes there. This is a wonderful studio, in a wonderful location. Windows look out on the placid Saddle River, which is surrounded by foliage and a host to wildlife. What better place to do yoga? All the instructors are excellent. Hand picked by the director, Chaya. There is not one instructor that does not have something valuable to impart to their students. Yoga is how I stay young… and…it does not hurt to be surrounded by those of all ages, who over time become friends…

I’ve taken a handful of classes here, including pilates and yoga. For pilates, the instructor made sure that I was holding the postures properly without coming across as condescending or negative. For yoga, I found it especially awesome since the instructor had the class collaborate and create the flow for the class with some gentle alterations if the suggested asanas wouldn’t work in sequence. The only thing that would keep me from being a regular is that I live sort of far from the studio. The space itself is gorgeous, an old barn stable overlooking some of the Saddle River. I’m a sucker for anything overlooking water, so between the great instructor that I had, gorgeous space and water element, I’m 100% sold.

2005 was a mysterious year for me… my health and fitness practice was expanding rapidly and I had begun an intense apprenticeship with a reknowned Bodyworker and Body Language expert, the technique of which had begun to repattern my nervous system and open my mind to a whole new way of BEING in my body. I needed a change, a way of supporting my system and keeping its integrity physically as well as energetically around the changes it was experiencing. Yoga felt right. Something powerful drew me to Shree… I had no idea of the depth of my intuition… Through the years, Chaya Spencer and her team at Shree have taught, with compassion and strength, my incredible body what it FEELS like to BE aligned {the understanding of which never ceases to amaze me}. Their work, with intimate knowledge of the body and its many systems, the art of Anusara, the many different philosophies and systems of yoga and an incredible compassion for the humanness and Spirit in each individual brings a whole new dimension to the mystery and magic of the human body and the art of healing. The lesson plans each week always, without fail, speak the exact tone of what my body wants and needs to experience and the teachers seem to patiently whisper new life into my bones, my muscles, every single cell, beckoning for them to dance and expand, and ALWAYS shine a little brighter. The passion and Love that the team, as well as the students at Shree exhibit, for the body, for the mind and for Life itself {if you can actually separate these concepts} is a blessing. I am honored and grateful for the woman I’ve become, being supported by the hearts and hands of such individuals. Thank You. Thank you

«The experience of being a student there is that you get transported into a different world. It’s an oasis. You come out of the rush of your day. It’s in a beautiful setting right on the river. You have«You time,» and a space where you can relax and tone yourself and develop your core. And it’s a very chill and relaxed atmosphere. It’s strong and serene — and not super-sweaty.

An intimate studio located in Barnstable Court next to the Saddle River Inn, Shree Yoga captures the essence of the yoga experience. Small classes with passionate instructors(Andrea comes to mind) who pays attention and offers guidance to each individual student. Great schedule of classes for novices(like me) and regulars alike. Only caveat is that the studio is SMALL, enough for maybe 10 – 12 students, so popular classes can get crowded quickly. Plus they have a great introductory offer that allows you to sample as many classes as you can handle for 3 weeks!
