Must give this place a try if your looking at the reviews! It’s a deli /coffee shop that has some specialty grocery items. My review is based on the deli not coffee(have not had coffee here yet) I was very happy to see 3 options for vegetarian Subs on the menu. That’s more veg. Options then subway and togos combined. Never the less don’t compare this deli to those places, the sandwiches are in a ball park of there own. Service is excellent I happens to come in when it was a bit busy and still managed to get out of there quickly. Good for a grab and go lunch.

This is a good sandwich shop just be careful check the meat in the meat case before you order. I’ve been here several times and the sandwiches have always been good. Today my husband bought me a roast beef sandwich and it had so much hard fat on it I couldn’t even eat it. I called the store and the gal that answered the phone told me it my responsibility to check the meat before I order the sandwich. So Beware if you order the Roast beef

My favorite sandwich spot in Sacramento. They have lots of «signature» options, but I always get a plain Jane turkey sandwich. They now remember my order – probably tells me I go there too often. Great bread, quality meats and cheeses. Highly recommend.

Just like the Davis location, but better because it is in Sacramento! The family and their employees are really nice. Good prices. On a busy day, I will call ahead and pick up. Viareggio and Livorno with prosciutto are our favorite sandwiches. Caramel brownie is amazing!

Staff is super nice. Yummy Greek salads. Panini’s weren’t as good as I had hoped. Lunch rush is insane so come before 1230 if you can!

This place is across the street from Sam’s Market. Sam’s is usually where I buy my cold sandwiches. But I was craving a hot sandwich, so I ventured into Zia’s for the first time. Mixing it up. Ordering protocol is order first at the far right deli meat counter and move to the left down the counter to the register. They had 2 people making sandwiches. As the fella took my order, Seina panini, he advised that the panini’s take 5 minutes longer than the cold sandwiches to make which I told him that was ok. I grabbed a bag of chips which are located on the deli counter top near the register. They only carry 1 brand of chips, Deep River kettle potato chips. But it comes in about 6 flavors. My total came out to ~$ 8.60. They also carry a selection of cold salads in the deli meat counter. They are not pre-packed, they’ll pack it fresh deli style. The price is by weight. Cold drinks like can San Pelligrinos and bottled Cokes/root beer/apple cider/etc are in the cold case to the left of the cash register. Oh and don’t forget your napkins and utensils, they are located to the left of the cold case. In addition, they sell a small selection of imported items like hard pastas, tea in fancy tins, lady fingers, wafers, and cookies. My sandwich was delicious. The Seina has rosemary prosciutto, mozzarella, and basil pressed to perfection.

Love this place! I get the Toscana Sandwich. Thin sliced true Italian salami with provolone, peperoncini, oil & vinegar on a soft roll. Near the Capitol so it’s fun to stroll through the park with lunch! A wide array of Italian groceries, desserts & hot dishes as well! Reasonably priced items & entrées make it a hidden gem!

I come to Zia’s a lot when I’m trying to grab a quick bite during lunch. It’s the closest sandwich spot for me since I work on the same block. My favorite is the viareggio sandwich — people usually get the sandwiches with the soft roll but I think it’s just way too much bread. The sandwiches are pretty good and you can customize your sandwich or even just order sliced meats since they have a huge selection of meats and cheeses. My favorite thing about zia’s is that they are willing to wrap your sandwich with lettuce if you don’t want bread. It’s pretty hard for me to find something that is paleo so this is a good option for me. Unlike the other restaurants that like to place a wilted piece of lettuce on the top and bottom of your sandwich and call it lettuce wrapped, zia’s really wraps your sandwiches with it. I love it! They also have a good fruit salad but their potato salad is a hit or miss. Sometimes I get their potato salad and it’s really good but other times, it tastes funny to me. I’ve learned my lesson with that potato salad so just stick with fruit salad now. Their frittata is ok… I tried it once and it was too peppery for my taste. I guess what I’m saying is, stick with their sandwiches. You won’t go wrong.

I really liked this place! Clean and cozy with a great outdoor patio. I also liked that they sold some authentic Italian groceries. I got the Lucca sandwich and it was delicious, great quality turkey and the bread was very soft. My bf got the first one on the menu, starts with a T, and he added two additional types of salami, lettuce, mustard, tomato, mayo, onion and he loved his. I recommend upgrading it because the third person we were dining with got the same sandwich but«as is» and it was very basic, he was the only one that was not happy with his lunch. Will definitely be back!

Reasonably priced, great selection of meats and sides. They even have imported goodies! Definitely plan to go back. Had the Lucca and a turkey bacon avocado… both fresh and delicious

Nice little place but nothing all that special. I had a half a pastrami sandwich(build your own), and ordered a couple of their prepared items to try later. You can only order half sandwiches on the sliced bread, which is fine by me because I love sourdough. However, the sandwich was something I could have made at home(although I think my sandwiches are better actually). Just very basic, average. The salads I ordered were tomato and mozzarella(caprese) and the Greek. Caprese wasn’t bad, but usually you get balsamic, this was with red wine vinegar, not the same depth of flavor. The Greek salad didn’t seem super fresh and they used parsley in it(what, no oregano or mint??). Customer service, however, was very good. Several people checked to make sure I had been helped. Not a bad little spot, but there are a lot of places in downtown/midtown to get a good sandwich.

Okay customer service with okay food. I wasn’t impressed. $ 7.00 for a grilled panini. That had turkey, cheese and some type of red bell pepper purée. Not worth the price. I waited 15m for my simple panini while all other customers were coming and going with their sandwiches. I won’t be back.

I was craving a sandwich for lunch and decided to walk over to Zia’s to give their sandwiches a try. I ordered the Lucca; which had Turkey, Prosciutto, Monterey Jack Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Mayonnaise, Mustard, Oil, & Vinegar on a Soft Sour French Roll. The individual components of my sandwich were good. The Turkey tasted fresh, the French Roll tasted like it was baked this morning, the lettuce was crunchy… BUT at first bite, it was dry, bland, and I couldn’t even taste the one thin slice of prosciutto in the sandwich at all. Maybe I should have had the sliced bread instead of the roll to get an even bread to meat ratio? At first glance of the sandwich it did cross my mind that there was a thicker layer of lettuce than there was meat, but I didn’t entertain the thought seriously until after a couple of bites in. Price wise, this place is reasonable. $ 6.00 for the Lucca Sandwich, $ 0.25 for the side of perpperchinni, and $ 1.50 for the bag of chips.

So far, I’ve tried a little bit of their pastries, pastas, and salads. They’re reeeeeally yummmmmy! I think they require a $ 5 minimum to use your card. If you’re barely short of the minimum, there are adorable Italian candies next to the cashier that can help! There’s also $ 1 macarons! Chocolate, pistachio, salted caramel, and strawberry. I doubt they’re made fresh, but as the wise saying goes, you gotta do what you gotta do: D Random shout out to other rugrats fans out there!

Great place to have lunch when you are working in the Downtown/Midtown vicinity. Zia’s Deli is worth the trip! Very Sanitary, has indoor/outdoor seating, and a enthusiastic team of employees who are ready to fulfill your requests. Cute little establishment that offers sandwiches(try the Milano or the Lucca) and an array of groceries(pasta, sauces, cheese, salads, various meats, & Italian offerings such as desserts, drinks, & candies). Their pesto-mayonnaise spread is super satisfying… Make sure to request it with your sandwich.

Zia’s is a great downtown lunch spot. There’s just something about a sandwich deli where the meat is sliced to order. Zia’s is a great lunch place because while they don’t do anything different then most sandwich shops, they just do it better. There are a decent variety of choices, or you can make your own sandwich, all very reasonably priced. The quality of all the ingredients is very high. They also have a few pre-made salads for sides, such as potato.

Came here for lunch. I like that it’s a little bit of a walk from my work and in more of a quaint little residential area. I went on a gorgeous day and sat outside so we got to experience all the people in the neighborhood. Mom with kid, Owners walking their dogs, lots of bikes(but may is bike month so that might be why). The interior is clean, they have a variety of items you can purchase, a few prepackaged fresh lunch options to-go, but the main event is their Sandwiches. The menu is all kinds of savory! So much so that I couldn’t decide between two sandwiches. The girl making my sandwich was AMAZING! She immediately knew what to offer, empathized with my indecision and offered the best of both worlds by customizing my sandwich to combine the two I was torn between. Would definitely come back. Though my experience was 5 stars, not sure if that would happen every time. Food was delicious, Ambience was a typical deli, and had an outdoor eating area which was nice. A-OK

Simply put, Zia’s serves up solid and simple sandwiches. Although I wouldn’t put them in the top ranks of Sacramento sandwich shops, I’m not necessarily unhappy with anything on their menu. My recent visit revolved around the Viareggio, which consists of turkey, smoked mozzarella cheese, pesto mayonnaise, lettuce and tomatoes. I was surprised at how simple it was. It was no fancier than a sandwich I would make at home — not that that was what I was expecting. Still, it didn’t have any standout qualities that compelled me to place it higher on my list than local favorites like Estelle’s, Magpie or The Rind(all of which I consider comparable as far as sandwich size, ingredients and quality). Perhaps it was my sandwich choice. Maybe next time I’ll be wowed into writing a glowing update?

It’s time to bump this review up to 4 Stars! Why might you ask??? Now that Zia’s has been open for awhile, I have seen lovely improvements. Though I have not ordered another sandwich, I have ordered lots of sliced salami! On my list of addictions, I have always confessed salami and cheese are on the near top. So why not get some thinly sliced salami, Havarti cheese, maybe toss in a few stuffed grape leave and wander over to the Capitol to walk the people? Well, this is becoming my new lunch ritual! And I love it. Whatever salami I order, spicy, regular, all pork, Tuscana, etc. the staff slices very thin, allowing it to just melt in my mouth! With the cheese, depending on your preference you may want to ask for thicker slices. Now on to those stuffed grape leaves.. .OMG!!! I adore those zesty lemon morsels of goodness!!! And if you just grab 2 or 3, its under a dollar! Overall ¼ of salami, 4 slices of cheese, 2 grape leaves= $ 5! Perfect for me. Service is also great, the staff continues to be polite and friendly. Zia has become a new regular stop for me! P. S.: And if you need water, just buy it or bring your own, or they will give you tap water from the sink. .Bleeh!
