University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law

The campus is gorgeous, campus security is amazing and always so helpful, the faculty and staff want to see you succeed… What’s not to love? Plus we have Justice Kennedy stopping in to guest lecture con law AND so many more distinguished professors!
I think it’s really lame that people are giving the school lower reviews based on chairs not being comfortable… And in the words of Damien from Mean Girls about other people leaving less than stellar remarks: «She doesn’t even go here.»

This place is such a good spot to study!!! Quiet, non cluttered, and has great natural lighting! My only complain is their guest wifi is only valid for two weeks from the day you get the code. Womp womp.
Another thing, school has public parking with no hour limit around the perimeter, so you don’t need to worry about getting towed.

Law school as a concept is under a period of tremendous change… there are far too many out there, making far too many lawyers, and the law school system will have to adapt. That said, as an alumni of this school, they gave me the tools I needed to learn how to be a good lawyer. Before considering law school though, talk to a LOT of lawyers. Don’t go in there looking through rose colored glasses. It’s not a career for everyone. But if you want to be a lawyer (and in particular, if you want to be in the Sacramento area) McGeorge is a quality institution.

The professors are awesome, the support staff friendly and approachable, especially the Registrar and Financial Aid offices.
On campus living is meh. The apartments are older and there’s generally construction being done on something which generates noise.
That said, I lived off campus and loved it. The library is brand new, and absolutely gorgeous. The rooms ate bright and sunny on the first floor and there’s plenty of nooks to stow yourself away in to study. The second floor is a bit cold. Prepare to bring a jacket in summer, for some reason they blast the AC in the upper trading room.
The new Dean has implemented new practices such as registering for the whole year instead of one semester at a time. I personally hate this new system because it’s more complicated if I change my mind about classes later, but other people like it this way, so to each their own.
The grounds are beautiful, though the school borders a rougher neighborhood. Don’t go to the park at night. Or ever. Campus security is great and I’ve never felt threatened on campus. That being said, there was a shooting in the park early in the 2012 year.
For all it’s faults McGeorge is a great, beautiful school full of qualified professors and awesome support staff. I’ve loved my time here and will be sad to leave.

Law Schools! The best in town hands down.
McGeorge has a great campus and there seems to be things going on practically everyday.
HOUSING — 3 — old buildings in need of some more tlc. Sadly all of the on campus housing I have seen/​lived in needs some modern updates in order to make it more palatable. It is not bad, but even though campus housing tries, it is obvious that they rarely think what it would be like to live in campus housing apartments. The saving grace is the friendliness of the dept head and willingness to help if something needs to be fixed.
SCHOOL — 4.8 — most profs are amazing and the dean is astounding. Overall it is clear that McGeorge hires profs that are beyond competent and also are good teachers. Hard work is a must, but it is well worth it.
Food — 3 — student center food is decent. It is fairly priced and the staff is friendly. I recommend the chicken wrap with BBQ sauce instead of ranch or the chicken stir fry plate.

Chairs in their auditorium feel uncomfortable. They are attached to the desk so you tend to be on a 10 degree incline on your left or right side.
