Requiem for Town & Country Village I shall forever mourn the loss of Town & Country Village’s soul. May it rest in peace! Gone is its sense of character and individuality. Gone are most of the small businesses. Gone is practically anything that even slightly resembles almost 60 years of cherished memories. In its place is a generic, unimaginative conglomeration of box stores set in a parking lot that could have only been designed by a mad scientist with absolutely no sense of practicality. Its soul has been removed in favor of its contribution to the cloning of America. Heil to corporate cloning! I have such fond memories of the ivy and moss covered brick walls, of exploring quaint little passage ways for treasures like the candle store that often let you make your own candles, or a shop selling art supplies or a quaint little café nestled amongst the ivy. I will always give credit to that little candle store for my love of candle making. Bobs Toyland was a Sacramento classic. I spent more hours than I can remember drooling over all of the wonderful toys. Speaking of toys, William Glen has to be one of my all time favorite stores. I don’t think any kitchen supply store has ever had as many gadgets on display as William Glen, which in turn brings back memories of their annual sidewalk sale. I could ramble on forever but I think I have made my point. I know Town & Country Village needed to make some big changes to stay in business but I don’t have to like them. I am pretty sure Town & Country Village can now be mistaken for tens of thousands of other shopping centers across America. Rest in peace Town & Country Village! Like an Alzheimer’s patient, your body might still be present but your spirit is long gone.

Good but sparse in terms of store selections. Ones that are there are nice.
