I go here a lot, and today they added broccoli and cheddar soup. 5 stars for this soup. It was just as good as Panera Breads!

I would give this place a 3.5, but that’s not available. They have a lot of options for healthier food. I enjoyed their chicken chili. The wait wasn’t too bad when we went for lunch time, but the line can get long around 12. I recommend getting there before the rush. Its worth a try especially if your around Macy’s its convenient. I would come back.

Today I was on the plaza to go to the movies but needed something to eat and was afraid that, with almost all the restaurants gone, I’d have to make do with a hotdog at the theater. But went to Macy’s instead and was very pleasantly surprised. They had oven baked pizzas and all sorts of soups and sandwiches, healthy choices. I had the Asian sesame mandarin salad and asked for a couple of modifications. The server was very helpful and accommodating and that salad is one of the best I’ve had in Sacramento. What a great surprise amongst the rubble of what used to be a busy plaza. They are lucky to have someone there that is that good at food prep. Give those people a raise!

Had the garlic and basil flatbread pizza very good but felt that it was missing something. Lemonade was very good I will definitely go back to try the 3 cheese panini

I have been going to Macy’s Taste Bar for the last year. It is one of the few places with good eats in this area of downtown. I recommend the Taste Two options(chicken salad sandwich and chicken chili or any of their salads). I love that they also have«special menus» every month or so where they serve special sandwiches and salads based on different regions of the world. The customer service is always EXCELLENT. The people who work there are polite and efficient and even remember my name even though I don’t go there more than once or twice a month!

The best sesame chicken salad I have ever had. Had it twice now & I really wish i can recreate this bad boy at home so i can ravish it more often. A must try and surprising ray of sunshine of culinary art resides in the ghost town Downtown Plaza Mall. The iced Chinese black tea tastes similar to Teavana tea I have had, except dollars cheaper. On a second visit I had their black currant tea, one of the empolyees self proclaimed favorite tea. Wasn’t bad, but i liked the Chinese tea better. Both unsweetend, but both taste naturally sweet. Now I have a bigger reason to trek 20 miles North out of my comfy E Geezy suburbia and come to this side of concrete city. No need to wait in shocking 20 minute lines at Panera anymore! I wanna try the rest of their food.

I used to come here when downtown was the place to be. I love the salads. The dressing is delish. The sandwiches are ok and they can be pricey. I would come again for the salads.

For the price you can’t beat it. I had a salad and the wife had a cup of soup and a sandwich. It was only 16.00 for lunch and it tasted really good. The smoked turkey salad was good size and had lots of flavor as the turkey was really smoked., The chicken soup was great and the sandwich was good served on fresh bread., THE1.00 Rice Krispy Treats were OMG. But only on Tuesday are they only $ 1.00., wow

One of my favorite places to go for lunch! They are quick, affordable and everything I’ve had tastes great! Looks can be deceiving– they don’t look like much but the food is wonderful.

A foodie discovery at the Plaza. Wife says the Mandarin salad is «Awesome.» I had the Cuban sandwich which is made with authentic Cuban bread. Best Cubano I’ve found outside of Havana – arrival!

We’ll… Where to begin. I ordered a tuna sandwich wrapped in lettuce instead of a spinach wrap because I have a food allergy to wheat. Btw — I have done this before here. The staff in font of other customers all started discussing they have never seen that and started joking mcdonalds does it but they are better than that… Yes I’m a starting to fume! Then the girl making the sandwich announces next time tell them they can have a salad. I politely said maybe your staff can stop complaining while I’m here. Instead of acknowledging maybe you shouldn’t complain he said I’ll talk to them about complaining in front of you. Oh sure it’s acceptable to bitch when I’m gone. Thanks for the consideration. One customer lost!

When I forget to bring my lunch this is where I go. I am addicted to the chicken chili. DECOR: Cute little café connected to Macy’s. Not much to it but it is clean. I am so glad they did not tear this place down for construction. FOOD: You can never go wrong with the chicken chili. It is AMAZING!!! The flavors are so great together. I love how they add cilantro sour cream. Beware sometimes it is really hot and will burn your mouth. SERVICE: They are always really quick. Great place. I hope it stays when the new arena comes.

Come here 2 – 3 times a week for lunch. Food is always reliably good and fresh. Nice fast and healthy options.

Just tried the«taste two» turkey sandwich and Caesar salad(with chicken instead of turkey) and it was perfect for a hot day like today! They’re so accommodating when you want to substitute for something else.

A co-worker recommended this place for lunch so I decided to go today since I didn’t bring anything to eat. The place was pretty empty since I was there early so there was plenty of seating. The cashiers were really nice and greeted me. I ordered the Pistachio Chicken Salad Sandwich which came with chips or carrots and a pickle. The chicken meat was fine(think tuna in a sandwich) with ciabatta bread so it was pretty good. I’ll have to order something different next time, maybe the chili since the reviews seem to be good.

Ran into Macy’s for a quick shopping lunch and ended up stopping at the Taste Bar. The restaurant was clean, the service was quick and I walked out with an awesome Chili Chicken Salad.

Convenience and limited eating options is what drew me in here recently. In Sacramento to take an exam at a building close to the mall, I was somewhat forced to park in the mall parking lot being the other surrounding parking garages charged between $ 1.25 to $ 1.75 per 20 min. The mall would actually validate parking for the first 3 hours if your purchase something, so that’s how I ended up here. It was still fairly early and only a small handful of food court stores were open that unfortunately, did not appeal to me at all. So, I decided to to take another look around, and that’s when I noticed Taste Café. They are located in the downstairs portion of the mall with a nice outside seating area. The interior of the shop is nothing impressive, though they provide plenty of seating. They have a decent selection of paninis and sandwich to choose from– an ok salad selection, and a pretty impressive looking selection of brownies, cookies and sweets on display. I really wanted a cobb-like style salad however, they only had a small selection with one being somewhat close. It came with turkey, tomatos, cheese and ham. I ordered that and switched the ham out for bacon and got the vinaigrette it comes with, on the side. I also got a small cup of coffee. Total came to $ 9. something. Salad was then brought to me and I was completely shocked with how puny it looked. Where was the turkey? Oh, I found it, it was like pre-packaged sliced turkey that looked like ham… not impressive at all and they were it-bitty, minuscule little pieces. I was like, there is no way this is going to fill me up and there is no way, I just paid almost $ 9.00 bucks for this. I then said something to the guy and girl working the front register area(they were very nice btw) and said I just wished there was more«turkey». They went over some options with me however, I noticed the Chicken Chili and asked to just try that. I loved it so, I swapped the salad out for a bowl of the chili. It was less than my salad so they refunded the difference. Chili comes with a chipotle sour cream on top, adorned with colorful stringed tortilla chips. The chicken chili turned out fantastic! I was really shocked with how good it was. It was seasoned perfectly and the chipotle sour cream complemented it wonderfully. Certainly made up for the poorly(not gonna fill me up) presented salad. I also want to say that the young guy helping me and the other girl working there, were extremely accommodating and patient. Oh, and the coffee was also pretty good. Would come back for the Chili only, and perhaps a cup of coffee or sweet treat.

The chicken chili here is to die for! I have never tasted any chili as good as theirs! For $ 4.95 you get a bowl of chili and a side of sourdough bread. The portion is a good size for lunch, not to heavy and not too light! Service is great and you get your food quickly. Nothing to complain about here. This will definitely be one of my favorite to go spots for lunch now! They also have sandwich & salad/soup combos that I will have to try one day. Definitely much better than grabbing food upstairs at the food court!

Good tuna sandwich! And their oatmeal raisin cookie was delicious. I can’t believe I haven’t eaten here before now, considering how often I shop at this Macy’s location! I’ll be back :)

I love this place! Service is professional, quick, reasonably priced, and food is Delicous! Yeah its not the Nordstrom café ambience but I actually like the food better and no need to tip on a pre order. I actually try to schedule my Macy’s trips around my appetite so I can make sure I can frequent this café. The chinese chicken salad is literally one of the best I have had. I also like the chicken chili, the smoked bacon and turkey sandwich, and the cookies and rice crispy treats too! I like the fact the Manager really gets involved in the service aspect, and seems like she is a good motivater to her team and cares about keeping the customers satisifed.
