@RiversEdgeFan Monday morning at 11:11am I arrived. Nothing looked palatable on the breakfast menu. Lots of options with hashbrown assortment. A whole bunch of hashbrown offerings. No biscuits and gravy. I settled for the classic burger. With Swiss cheese. I was parched. Thirsty. In desperate need of beverage. Iced tea with lemon and H2o were ordered. I immediately finished them both before ordering the meal. Wait staff took my order and did not even offer to refill my beverages. It wasn’t even busy. Tables were being cleared. Staff walked by several times. No beverage refills. Staff sat at the bar and snacked and chatted. I sat and waited quite a while before refills were made. They were finally filled AFTER my burger was delivered. The atmosphere was hip and very well lit with natural light through many big windows. It was pretty quiet with music playing softly. The patio was large but not shaded. A couple of tables had umbrellas. Burger was supposed to be cooked to medium. It was well done. The bun was toasted. French fries were crispy and hot. There were three different hot sauces available at the table. That was nice. My beverages were finished again and never refilled a third time. I waited a long time, with empty plate in fron of me, before the check arrived. Overall I was not impressed in the slightest. I am open to exploring local businesses instead of chain restaurants. Staff seemed distracted and were very inattentive. While glad I tried this option I will not return. I recommend trying it once. Hopefully to a better experience. You may be glad you did hopefully maybe.

Used to be ok but the last 2 times were awful. I don’t know how a restaurant can ruin a BLT but they did. Bacon was burnt, dry as can be and just thrown on a plate. There was only one other couple there and it took forever to get our order taken. The prices are absolutely ridiculous for what you get. A turkey burger for $ 13.95? I’ll never go back… I hate leaving a bad review but they need to step up their game or close!

Glad we finally came and had breakfast. Out of all days we came on Father’s day, super busy! We were seated right away since we did not mind sitting at the bar or we would have waited 45 min, understandable considering it’s Father’s day. Food portions are quite large, had the veggie egg white omelet with potatoes. I rarely leave full with an egg white omelet, but had leftovers because it was very satisfying. My husband had pancakes, eggs, and bacon. He can eat, he also left full and most importantly, the food was great and I do not think it was overpriced. Savannah our server was attentive and very nice, even though she was extemely busy. She kept checking on us & had our coffee cup going.

Didn’t love it. The pancakes arrived cold & the hash browns didn’t taste cooked. $ 35 for 2 people. I had water, he had coffee. Only meh.

I went here for breakfast with my boyfriend and it was probably the worst breakfast I’ve ever had. I ordered the Pancake breakfast, it came with two eggs any style, and two bacon slices or sausage links. I got bacon and over easy eggs. Both the yolks were broken, and the bacon was burnt all the way through. My pancakes had burnt onions and garlic in them, and they were so spongey that I could get my knife to cut them, I had to pull them apart with my hands. By the time we got our meals, we still didn’t have our silverware. We asked three times for silverware, and didn’t get any until the third time. The waitress came back with a spoon and knife, telling us that they had no clean silverware. I didn’t get a fork until I was almost done with my meal and my boyfriend had to ask for forks twice before we finally got one. They were understaffed, and the wait time was too long. The meals are over priced for the services you receive, and quality of the food. I wouldn’t recommend going here if you want a nice meal.

This is one of the best places for breakfast/brunch. Their stuffed hash browns are amazing. Portions are huge. Be prepared to be stuffed :) The negative about this place is the dirty floors. They seem to not care about it. Been here twice and both times, there is dirt on the floor. Pieces of straw wrappers, sugar packets, debris all over the floor. It’s a turnoff. They should clean up the floors regularly.

We have found a great spot to bring our doggy and to enjoy a delicious breakfast. The patio was large, but shade is somewhat limited. The stuffed hash browns are great and it is easy to have half left over for another time. The staff was friendly. Prices were decent for the amount of food.

I used to come to Rivers edge years ago, this was before they hit it big and before all the hype. Back when the food was still the food but the prices were cut in half. Now you come in and the prices have doubled. The food has gotten smaller and the prices bigger. The quality is still the same. It’s really good food. But for a plate of traditonal breakfast for $ 20, I’d rather hit IHOP for half the price. R.E. Doesn’t stand out THAT much to be charging so high. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good. However, it’s priced too high. It seems as it keeps going up every year and the portions keep getting smaller. The service was OK the girls are really nice. I didn’t see many male servers, I always have felt this establishment leans more to just female. Which isn’t bad, but could be a little more diverse. Overpriced traditional food. 2 stars for the friendly servers and the quality of the food. But it’s just not worth the price. Also they charge for every little thing.

I love rivers edge because it’s the perfect hangover food and is pretty close to campus too. Except it’s soooo over priced and the wait is literally always long. I love their food, it just sucks because they know they can raise the prices and people will still go here because it’s the only decent food near student living. However, if you decide to check it out I would recommend their all American because it comes with just about everything. Pancakes, potatoes, bacon, bread and eggs so you’ll feel like you have to go take a nap just to regroup from your meal. The service is hit or miss just depends, sometimes I’ll be waiting forever just to grab someone’s attention to get me water. If you go in a big group expect a long wait, they don’t really have tables set up for big groups.

This is a honest review with no biased intentions. The place is very overpriced and the quality of food does not match the extreme prices. This is a mom and pop restaurant and wants support from the community but does not know how to make their customers feel appreciated or satisfied with the money they spend. The food is not bad it’s average but the prices are like a high prices restaurant. Our child had a kids milk when we asked for more the waiter brought it to us and did not tell us that there are no refills. We paid $ 6 for 2 small glass of milk. Bigger restaurants do not do this at all. In fact I have never experienced that anywhere. The service was below average and the bathrooms were very dirty. I would avoid this place especially due to the high cost go spend your money somewhere where you will be happy afterwards because this place will do the opposite.

I’ve been here during both brunch and a late lunch. For brunch, service is quick and the drinks are delicious. The food is «okay,» but I think it’s because they’re not using the freshest of ingredients. I vastly prefer the potatoes over any egg dish they might have — the omelette I had with the mushrooms and pickled artichoke hearts was kind of weird– I won’t be getting it again. My meat-eating companions got bacon, which looked to be overcooked. For lunch I’ve had the veggie sandwich. The sandwich was good(and big, I shared it with a friend) but it came with a cole slaw that was literally half mayonnaise. Ultimately, I’d probably go here again if I was in the area, but the brunch game in Sacramento is strong, so this won’t be a destination for me.

Went to River’s Edge for a quick(and late) to go breakfast on Sunday around noon and got the Chicken Fajita Omelette for the first time. Perfect meal for a late breakfast/lunch and maybe the best omelette I’ve ever had… I will definitely be back soon for more of these! Reminds me of the ‘Mexican Scramble’ that I used to get at Ideal Bar & Grill at the Santa Cruz Wharf. This was better. River’s Edge really is the best breakfast stop in Sacramento in my opinion, and I love that they serve breakfast until 3pm for people like me with unusual eating schedules. I don’t even bother going anywhere else if I have a choice.

I had the chicken sandwich with a house salad. It was okay. Kind of dry, not very flavorful. The salad was good but I ordered ranch dressing that I’m glad came on the side because it didn’t taste that great. I may go back to try the breakfast but who knows. It’s pricey and I wasn’t impressed with my food. The staff was really friendly though.

Ordered the pork belly benedict and it was pretty bad. My check was 19.53 for my meal and a chocolate milk. I only ate it because I didn’t feel like throwing away $ 20 bucks. The flavor profile was off. There was acidity in the sauce, the spinach anf the tomato. The only contrast came from the poached eggs and the biscuits because even the pork belly was very sour. The potatoes were ok but were a little bland. My husband and I love doing brunch, but I will definitely not be bringing him here ever. This is my first review and I think it’s worth it.

Came for dinner tonight. Service was really slow with only three tables occupied. Actually had to get up to ask when food was being delivered. Not something I normally do in any restaurant. Ordered the rib eye medium. It Came out well done. I showed it to waitress and she admitted it was wrong. My son ordered fish and chips. They were so so. Overall, totally dissappointed. It may be a good lace for breakfast and lunch. But for dinner it ranks as one of my worse experiences.

To me, this will always be the college hungover brunch spot. Students flock to this café because of its location. Students take over at least 4 tables and will be in there almost all day! The food is just OK to me. There are so many competitive restaurants in Sac that just blow this place away. And for their OK food, they raised the prices! I got the french toast and they charged me an extra $ 4 for maybe fours strawberries… In the end it just becomes not worth it! I suggest to drive downtown and you have plenty of other choices for brunch!

I give this place 2 stars only because 1) the portion size of their food is great and 2) the food tastes great. I deducted 3 because this is the second time we have had horrible service in a row. The first time we were sat and nobody came to us. It took us going and asking someone to bring our server to finally get service. Don’t you think as a waitress if you see a table hasn’t been helped in over 10 minutes you should grab someone or say something? Second experience went better, we actually got service but when it came to paying the server acted as we didn’t exist after dropping off the check. She walked by multiple times and had to have seen the payment on the edge of the table. We put $ 40 down of course we want change on a $ 25 bill you weren’t that spectacular to get that great of a tip. We couldn’t find her after waiting for her to walk by the 3rd time so we had to find someone else to finally pay. You might think we are just complaining by me and my girlfriend both work in the restaurant business, we are very patient when it comes to mistakes and if the server is busy, but come on! The place wasn’t busy! Management should definitely look into the training on their waitresses. Don’t think we’ll be back for a 3rd disappointment.

I have gone to Rivers Edge several times in the last two years. I thought the food was great … for the first few visits. Since then it has gone consistently downhill … the portions have become smaller and not nearly as tasty, but the prices have gone up? Many items on the menu can only be ordered after 4 pm, last night was the first time I was there for dinner and it was absolutely horrible … we ordered Rib Eye steak and it was almost flat … greasy … covered in burnt mushrooms and onions … and so tough we could barely cut it … I should have been suspicious when the server didn’t ask how we wanted them prepared? Oh I so wanted this little place to succeed, but I sure don’t see that happening. They had a golden opportunity, and they ran it into the ground.

Have been here many times before, place has always been a favorite, especially after a nice long Sunday morning walk up and down the bike trail. We went this Saturday, though, and noticed that the interior had changed a bit — looked more«upscale,» with rustic-chic style wood panels added to the tops of booth walls. It looked great, don’t get me wrong, but once we got our bill, we noticed that the cost was definitely passed on to the customer. River’s Edge was never a greasy-spoon, dive kind of place. Prices were on the higher side for a typical breakfast, BUT you got delicious food and good service in exchange, so it was worth it. This Saturday, however, we noticed that the bill was higher than usual, even after ordering our usual meals. My nephew’s Mac-n-Cheese with fries, from the«junior corner» of the menu, was $ 8 — and it was a small helping of your basic Kraft macaroni & cheese. Coffee and soft drinks were $ 3 each. Not fancy coffee, just a cup of coffee. All total, the bill for three adults, three kids and a teenager, was well over $ 100 after tip(we tipped well as usual because it’s not the waiters fault the prices are ridiculous). $ 120 for BREAKFAST! I feel like they are trying to change the place into a more upscale experience, which is totally their prerogative, but if something isn’t broke, why fix it? They no longer do the fun«hangover challenge,» staff don’t wear their favorite sports attire, food doesn’t come out as fast, and it wasn’t as packed at 11am on a Saturday as usual. River’s Edge has good food, but it isn’t the best food. It isn’t a kitschy farm-to-fork, all-organic-ingredients kind of place that might justify higher prices to an audience willing to pay for a specialty such as a that. I feel like they should go back to what they did well — good food at decent prices with a fun atmosphere and packed tables. Until then, I likely won’t be back.

Great out of the way spot. The staff is friendly, great service and quick to refill the coffee! That’s a must for me! Food was delicious, a little more expensive than your average breakfast café but entirely worth it. The menu was so interesting including a cheese n bacon n sour cream filled hash brown mountain, called the Hangover! All in all it was a great find!

I’ve come here with both friends and family, everyone has enjoyed the food. I can’t say it’s the healthiest of breakfast restaurants(although I think they do have some healthier options on the menu), but their stuffed hash browns are incredible. They give you A LOT of food– I always regret not splitting a dish with someone because every meal comes with a side or two(toast, pancakes, English muffin, etc). I also love that they have a bar– their Bloody Mary’s are fantastic.

There are few times I would describe food as revolting, but this is one of them. My friends and I walked in around 6 p.m., really hungry for some food. The service was friendly, I admit. We were seated and ordered drinks. My friend ordered a Coke, and when it came out it looked like Flint, Michigan lead water. Perhaps it was. It took her about 10 minutes to send it back, however, because our server ran off and didn’t come back. When he returned, we were quite pleased to discover that breakfast would be served all day, contrary to what the menu said. We ordered our respective breakfast foods. Our food took over half an hour to get to us. It was not worth the wait. I had ordered the portabello mushroom omelette. It was repulsive. Now, I hesitate to use language like that, but there’s really no other word to describe it. This omelette with green, and had almost no egg in it. It had a huge amount of pickled portobello mushrooms, artichoke hearts and a bunch of feta cheese in the middle. That combination made me want to vomit. I ate a few bites and then felt nauseous. One of my friends with equally disappointed with his food. His poached eggs were the size of quail eggs. And rock hard(his precise words). According to both of my friends, their bacon, which was cut into small bits, was essentially inedible because it was so overdone. As a testament to how awful the food was, right after leaving, my friends and I walked across the shopping center to the liquor store and bought candy to cleanse our palates. A Kitkat bar never tasted so good.

The food is very good. I got the hangover once which I quickly noticed was waaaay to much food but it was delicious. I also always get«The Monster sandwhiches» which has ham, bacon, fried egg, hash browns, cheddar, and country sausage gravy on a toasted bun. You have the option of going with country style potatoes or hash browns. This is one of my favorite because it will fill you up and you can also save it for later. Of course it also taste AMAZING. FORLUNCH I always get the club sandwhich and I get SEASONED fries with it and it is just amazing with a pear cider. It is a must

Great food! Many choices! Chicken fried steak was great! Different than others I’ve had since they make theirs with ribeye. Love their hash browns. I give 4 stars because their chicken wrap was alright… for some reason the coleslaw in the wrap was weird. Other than that the rest of it was great! Always stop here for breakfast on my lazy Sunday

This restaurant is in a great location. I was a regular coroner from the day it opened having lived in the area fur 25 years. The remodel is nice but it’s been paid for by charging high prices for mediocre food. While the wait staff is friendly, the owners are self aggrandizing money makers. They have no specials that the people of this neighborhood can afford. I still go there occasionally as it is in a great location for a business lunch. it’s also rarely crowded on weekdays. I miss the neighborhood feel it had upon opening and the presence of a friendly owner on the premises.

We stopped in for dinner last Saturday. The restaurant was a tad slow, but the server was friendly. I was perusing the breakfast menu, and she mentioned that they could make breakfast if I wanted it, since the menu states breakfast is only served until so I appreciated the thought. I got a burger which was fine, but nothing to write home about. Fries were pretty good. From the other reviews, perhaps I should have tried the breakfast, as it seems to be their specialty. I may be back to see how breakfast is, and will update my review if I am moved to do so.

Found this gem hidden on the American River. Place is average, thus the 3 star review. We entered the restaurant and asked for a table. They promptly responded with a 10 – 20 minute wait. Knowing that 10 is different than 20… we grabbed a very small table for 2 in the bar. The bar was probably the best viewing place to watch the wildness that is a Saturday morning take place. Staff was running around trying to make sense of the people waiting. Those who wanted to sit outside did, but the staff would warn them, «if it rains, youll have to stay outside”– pretty rude. Food was ok. Larger than life portions doesnt make the food delicious. This place service college kids overflowing from Sac State… cheap is better, however 2 people $ 40 breakfast seems a bit excessive for just ok food. Not sure we’ll be back.

I made reservations for a party of 14 at 1:15 for lunch on a Wednesday. We arrived a little early(1:00) but don’t worry they weren’t busy but still ignored us for a good 15 minutes. Since we were blocking the entry for other customers to pay and leave, part of our group stood outside in the heat as we waited to be helped. There were about 10 other people in the entire restaurant(inside and out) but most were finishing up their meal and heading back to work so i’m not sure why they couldn’t acknowledge our group since we could clearly see the table set for us. As we were standing there waiting, we even said loudly, «I guess if they don’t even acknowledge us standing here in the next couple of minutes, we will leave.» It was then a manager or cook, I assume, who was sitting at a table right next to us, went and got a server and told her to help us. Again, she didn’t say anything to our entire group. She walked by our large group, grabbed some menus and started walking away to our table that had been set up since we arrived. A couple of us then asked, «should we follow you?» and I can’t even recall if she said anything but she started to place the menus on the table so we just walked over and took a seat. They took our drink order fairly quickly but then took another 30 minutes to come back and take our order. Which obviously was a waste of time since we all had 15 minutes prior to even be seated to decide what we wanted, so we were ready basically when we got seated But the servers could not attend to us because they were too busy sweeping around our table(gross, they could have waited) and folding napkins, I suppose. They finally took our order and it took another 30 – 45 minutes to get our food. I guess with a big party it’s understandable but it’s a large restaurant and we were basically the only ones there. What would they have done if it were actually busy? The food finally came and surprise surprise, no silverware so we had to wait again with all our food in front of us for them to bring us utensils, which took another couple of minutes. I’m not sure where the servers kept disappearing to or if they were purposely just ignoring us but it was a miserable experience. I ordered the fried rice, since the pics on Unilocal looked good and a friend said it was tasty. Bad move… We finally left 2.5 hours later, and I can’t tell you how many of us had the worst stomach ache. Not sure if it was the food, since we all ordered different things but clearly we had a problem! I really wish I had a better experience, especially since it is so close to work but I don’t think any of us would return. I’ll end on a positive note, they did give us separate checks. Unfortunately, that’s not enough to give them another star.

We’ve been meaning to hit this establishment sooner than later. It’s been later for us as time has passed bc for some reason or another. We finally were in the area so we made it a point to stop in. My HB first heard of this restaurant as his coworker had frequent it most recently with his good friends from high school. He mentioned it to Ken as he says he always orders the big stuffed hash browns. That actually sounded tasty; hash browns stuffed with bacon, sausage, onions, sour cream, jack and cheddar cheese. But what actually caught my eye on this extensive menu was the Triple D Pancake Challenge: a triple decker sandwich stuffed with 3 pancakes, 5 sausage links, 5 strips of bacon, 6 eggs, hash browns & cheese topped with maple syrup & butter. If you finish this challenge in Ten minutes; it’s FREE! Praise the Lard!!! Yikes!!! Of course, you silly people we didn’t go for that! Just thinking about it blows my mind. I know we have seen Rivers Edge Café several times on Good Day Sacramento. One time where Melissa Cabral asks us to name a couple of their dishes, another where there were 6 people including Mel & Marcus Allen were involved in a Waffle Mountain Eating Challenge & most recently advertising their catering business on Super Bowl Sunday were they had the most Fantabulous Football Food Stadium. You don’t know what you missed? Check them out their Facebook page! Anyway we enjoyed our brunch; my HB with his breakfast fried rice with 2 pieces of bacon & my homemade corned beef hash with mushrooms & onions. They place eggs on top with tomatoes on the side. I think they should side it with some yummy French toast. Oh well just my opinion; I did get it with sourdough toast. You do have a choice of pancakes or toast. I’m just not a pancake person:( I didn’t eat all of my entrée; it was way too much for me to eat. My HB scarfed all of his down no problem. Our service was on point from the hostess to the waitress. I was most thankful for their decent bathrooms too. We were very observant of the beautiful blue lamps that were heavily dusty. My HB complained to me about it until I looked up I understood where he was coming from! Oh well… hope they see this review and get the hint to clean! Will we be back to this all day serving breakfast joint? You bet! Maybe my next review will be five stars! We will have to try their patio dining as I love eating outdoors; it rained heavily all day yesterday so their patio was closed! Why are you reading my review and not there eating? They have a special Valentine’s 4 course dinner from now until Red Heart Day! Go now!

Probably a very good place to come if you’re a supremely hungover college student. They have two dishes called the Hangover and the Hangover II with potatoes and gravy and all sorts of epic things. I didn’t enjoy the American River(original) eggs benedict. The hollandaise was outstanding, but there was too much ham for my taste and the eggs were too small for how much ham there was. The hash browns were good, though I prefer them to be more crisp. My partner got a turkey club with potato salad; the potato salad was my favorite part of the meal. It’s super good. Also got two bloody marys and a side of fruit and it was more expensive than i was expecting it to be. The waiting area is very awkward and small, but the full wall windows are fantastic. I enjoyed it satisfying my benedict and blood mary need, but I don’t believe I’ll be back.

First discovered this place last year during a soccer tournament and have been finding excuses to come over to this side of town to eat here whenever we can. The service has always been great so not sure about some of the negativity that others have posted about… the staff is generally always very upbeat and very positive. In the summer/spring time they have a great patio area to kick back and enjoy the weather. My personal favorites on the menu are the Huevos Rancheros and any of stuffed hash-brown concoctions they have… we have also eaten here for lunch several times and they have great BLT’s and a pretty decent club sandwich as well. Another great thing is the micro brew on tap selection… personally love the Deschuettes Brewery items. This is a great brunch spot, but just a heads up they do get pretty busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait a few minutes.
