Don’t go here! I’m pretty sure they are committing elder abuse. My 89 year old grandmother went to the downtown Sacramento location for a routine visit to have her hearing aid cleaned. First off they were incredibly disorganized, making her wait forever and then two times mixing her up with other people. Then they shuffled her off to some kind of salesman who told her that her hearing aid was no good and that she should buy their new and improved $ 4000 one. They convinced her to buy one even though her hearing aid was only 2 years old. The only reason she bought it was that they said she could get a full return if she didn’t like it. After a few days grandma decided they weren’t any better than her old ones and she wanted to return the hearing aids. My mom went with her and first they lied and claimed that my grandma came to them wanting the new hearing aid, because of some sale! Then they were told that they couldn’t return them until they completed the«journey» — a series of hearing tests that lasts for over a month and seems to be designed to lie to elderly people to make them think their new hearing aid is working great. My mom saw her fail every hearing test week after week, yet the«journey» and the audiologist tried to convince them that she was doing well and that she should keep the hearing aids. After all of that the audiologist at McDonald hearing center still wouldn’t return the hearing aids! She said now they would send a request to their board to see if they would let my grandma get a refund. Surprise, surprise… The board denied the refund and that was it. Could have been worse I guess — someone in the waiting room told them she couldn’t get a refund either and she spent $ 10k. McDonald hearing aid center is committing elder abuse and should be stopped. I plan to report them so they can’t take advantage of any more people!

Unfortunately, I cannot give less than one star. We started out with the location in Elk Grove and switched to the X Street location as it was closer to home. The people were nice but after MONTHS of waiting, and spending over $ 5K, my aunt still cannot use her hearing aids. The company they use to make the part that goes into the ear, which is specially created using a mold from the patient’s ear, takes weeks to get the part made. It was promised in 2 weeks. Wasn’t ready for a month. Then it was wrong and hurt her ears. A new one was ordered from the factory. Another month. That one just came and it is WRONG. When you are PROFOUNDLYDEAF without your hearing aids, even a week without them is hard. You can’t talk on the phone. You cannot have a conversation with anyone. It is lonely, frustrating and isolating to be deaf in a hearing world. Add to this that my aunt, at 88 years old, is a fall risk. It has been proven that using hearing aids lessens the chances of taking a fall. I tried calling the 800 number and asking to speak with someone in the headquarters office. A phone lackey took a message and no one has returned my calls. I hate this company! Forget their misleading ads, too. My aunt spent OVERFIVETHOUSANDDOLLARS. And I’ve taken too much time off of work to get her to her appointments.
