Horrible customer service!!! called to order catering for a fairly large party… first item I tried to order was a large pan of Musubi. I asked that the pieces be cut in half and was told«No, if you want them in half, you can cut them yourself» well… that ended the call. Their rude service cost them a catering bill that was over $ 400 when it was completed… I called the L and L on Laguna and they were super easy to work with, cut the Musubi in half no problem and got my business… The owners of the Mack Road L and L should realize that they have other stores in the area and customer service is what makes people repeat customers.

L&L is a place I tend to avoid just for the fact that I’m in the process of losing weight and trying to make better food choices. However, L&L is a great place to go when you’re hungry or craving some really good comfort food. Service: four stars, I’ve never had any issues with the staff and they are generally friendly. I have made pickup orders over the phone before and the employees are nice and easy to order from. Ambiance: four stars, this restaurant is very well kept. there are plenty of tables, very clean environment and looks like somewhere chill to have lunch. however, given that it is in the Mack road area, that discourages me from sitting in and enjoying my food in fear that my car is vulnerable to theft or vandalism.(growing up in South Sac, it’s definitely happened before) Quality/value: three stars, I feel like the food, even though it’s comfort food, it is pricey. A plate of ½ katsu ½ bbq chick is $ 9.80 I believe and THREE pieces of small lumpia the size of my index finger is $ 2.75. My total came to around $ 13 including an extra katsu sauce which was $.25. In addition to avoiding L&L because of my personal health reasons, I feel discouraged to come here more often because of how pricey it can become. Overall, It’s fair to say that I really love L&L Hawaiian bbq and if you love experiencing different cultures and trying new things, you will too! Go try it, yo!!!

My boyfriend was in the mood for hawaiian bbq so I thought to tag along. When I come across L&L, my expectations aren’t high as previous locations I’ve been to had smaller menus and food portion was small. I was in the mood for Portuguese sausage, egg and rice. When we entered the restaurant, we were immediately greeted with an Aloha. It was nice as every other L&L I’ve been to only says hi, hello or what would you like. I didn’t see the portuguese sausage choice on the menu so I asked the cashier if they have that dish available. We reassured me that they do have it and that they can customize orders. I requested my egg to be cooked scrambled as I’m not a fan of runny eggs. When I got my food, I was pleased with the portion size and the quality of the food. I have to say that this location is by far the best L&L’s I’ve ever been too. I’m so happy that my boyfriend chose this place. I will definitely be back here to help my hawaiian bbq craving.

REVIEWUPDATE You must really wonder why I always come to this L&L location(Sacramento) a lot. This is the closest thing to a Hawaii local plate lunch as you can get. The second place would be in the Laguna area. I have tried all other L&L locations in the Sacramento area and I am very picky because I AMFROMHAWAII. I know the difference and quality. The best quality by far is this location. Sorry to be a snob about it. Im really picky on how the food is prepared only because I KNOWTHEDIFFERENCE. Haha. Im definitely a regular and I am always buying Lau lau, Kalua pig, BBQ mix plate, chicken bbq, Chicken Katsu and Saimin. I have tried most of the menu and they are always on it. The only thing that I found bearable is the macaroni salad. When they make it here, it is not as hard core as it is in Hawaii. In Hawaii mac salad is suppose to be really fishy with Tuna. Here they toned it down for the Sacramento natives to make it bearable. Other than that… everything is perfect. Laulau may be frozen(but I can bear with it) cause I know how long it takes to make it. I make it at home and it does take almost half the day. Also the manapua here is frozen too but sometimes you just wanna just eat one(its bearable too). Like I said… the other foods though made here are perfect. Closest thing to Hawaii style local plate lunch.

One of my favorite L&L BBQ locations despite the questionable neighborhood. The restaurant is very big with a ton of tables! It always clean and cool, great place to dine at in the summer. I always get my usual BBQ chicken mini plate here and spam musubis. For some reason, compared to other locations, this location cooks the meat perfectly just the way I like it. They grill it really well so the chicken comes out with a nice smokey flavor, which is perfect every time! The speed of their service is great as well! I always call in my order before I pick it up and to be honest, every single time, my order takes at most 5 minutes before it’s ready which is great! I love how convenient L&L is when I’m on a time crunch and need my food fast. Excellent service. There’s a total of 2 – 3 different cashiers here and they all do their job really well. Nice, friendly, and speedy with everything!

This is for sure one of my go to places every time I visit Sacramento. This place offers comfort/Hawaiian foods for a reasonable price. I’ve tried their chicken katsu, seafood mixed platters, beef ribs, misubi, and etc… Everything here is just great and satisfying. Service is fast and friendly, great for dining in and taking out, plenty of space for large groups and definitely family friendly. I cannot wait to take another trip there!

L&L is Comfort food for any Rice lover! The options are endless… but my favorites would have to be the Shortrib. LocoMoco or the Katsu(gravy) combo(yummmo!) All combo plates come with a side of white rice and macaroni salad and no need to worry because they have half and full plates. I swear i could eat here Errryday(notypo) and basically do. On those days your felling blue they have a Spam Saimin(ramen soup) that will cure all worries away. in other words. its Good! Also check for the Chefs daily special because you get a free drink with the meal(winning!) Service at this location is Always Great! Ive Never been let down. and whether your dining in or taking out service has always been Fast and Friendly with Smiles! These are reasons i am a Loyal customer and plan on staying that way. Thank You L&L for being in the neighborhood and in my tummy!

Food: Half fried shrimp and BBQ chicken: 4 pieces of fried shrimp, 3 pieces of grilled BBQ chicken, 2 scoops of white rice, and 1 scoop of macaroni salad over a bed of cabbage. The shrimp is battered and deep fried to a golden crunch. The BBQ chicken is tender and flavorful. This meal is huge, I always have leftovers! 5⁄5 Service: Fast and friendly. 4⁄5 Final thoughts: I love L&L! Everything I’ve had here is good, but I like to stick to my fried shrimp and BBQ chicken.

My favorite L&&L location had to be this one! Been a patron here for almost 10 years back when I used to work at Home Depot. Coming here for so long the owner actually recognize me. He’s really friendly & so are the staff.
I usually get their Hawaiian BBQ mixed. It’s mixed with spare ribs, chicken, and beef. From time to time I get the seafood mixed. If you order the combo, it comes with two scoop of rice, a scoop of Mac salad, lettuce and a great portion of meat. I usually asked for tarter and mixed it with sarachi for my dipping sauce. Must try! It’s delish! Its very spacious inside also. Enough seating for big groups or a seating for two. It’s always clean inside, especially the bathroom. The only thing I can say bad about this place is the trash overflow. We usually have to stuff down our plates in the trash because it’s so full. Beside that, it’s everything else is great.

craving some chicken katsu, so off to the best place where you can get it, but I was wrong, my imagination was humongous portion of chicken katsu since my order was regular not mini and I asked the girl to omit the 2 scoop rice and 1 scoop macaroni salad with a house salad, her suggestion is healthier version of chicken katsu with salad without Mac and rice. Order to go, go home and ready to enjoy chicken katsu gelore and surprise the portion was mini not regular :( With regular usually I had a lot of leftover of chicken katsu, this time chicken was gone in no time :( Thinking about dumping the left over salad in the garbage, since nobody going to have salad leftover without protein and found receipt that was way different then what I had order.

I seriously love this L&L compared to all the other locations I’ve been to. The cashiers are always helpful and greeting me. The owner is always friendly and smiling as well. Food: I love their rice and the BBQ chicken. I really love their spam masubi. I’ve eating spam masubis from other locations that are not L&L and they don’t beat L&L’s. I usually get the mini BBQ chicken combo with all rice and it comes with sliced up cabbage on the bottom of the chicken. I like how they add that because you get some crunch along with the meat and rice. Price: They’ve increased their prices since I’m sure it’s due to the economy and other competitors. I usually spend $ 8 or so for the mini combo and a regular soda. The spam masubis are quite expensive for one piece. Service: Food always gets done at a good time. They are great with phone in orders as well. The place is always kept neat when you step in. Location: It’s in a plaza next to Big 5 Sporting Goods. There’s always parking. The inside could use some new paint and cleaning. They’ve had the same color or same paint for over a decade now I think. Although, that will not stop me from eating in and returning back. So if you haven’t tried this place out yet, you really need to.

Ive been to a few of these l&l spots ive gone to some good ones and been to some bad ones, by far the one on mack road has been the best. The one on northgate has been the worst but thats another story i wont touch today. Like always the l&l joint on mack delivered the goods i went on the weekend so they had the poke(raw tuna) its was really good! Only thing that sucked was that it comes in a real small cup. Also ordered my favorite bbq chicken and like always it was on point. And the portion was nice i just wish it had a lil more cabbage I LOVE when the cabbage gets soft and is covered in bbq sauce. I like this specific spot because its always kept clean, the bbq sauce and teriyaki sauce bottles are always full and the customer service is always good prompt and respectful. Like the terminator said“i’ll be back”

Oh my! I had a BBQ Cheeseburger from L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. It was divine! I’m a pescatarian, so eating beef is an adventure in itself. That said, the burger was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. Yum!!! The 3-star overall rating was due to the lackluster fries and macaroni salad. Baby steps into being a complete carnivore!

Anytime I was crave some real good food in a hurry and not drive thru material I will go here. BBQ mix plate Chicken katsu Shrimp Everything is pretty much worth the money. Especially with the portions and freshness. Only give a 4 because sometimes the service is lacking. Not that it is bad but it isn’t great either. It’s the what do you like ok pay and here’s your number. Not to welcoming or appreciative when handing food out.

I already tried the L&L on Folsom Blvd and I gotta say, I liked the Mack Rd L&L better. The restaurant is bigger with more seating and plenty of natural light, and I enjoyed the food more. I was craving Loco Moco; for $ 6.95 I got a large plate with 2 scoops of rice and their signature macaroni salad. I liked that they asked me how I wanted my eggs; at the other location they just served it with the runny eggs that asian cuisine seems to favor so much(I’m not crazy about liquid yolks!) Getting the Loco with fried eggs instead made it *so* much better IMO, and I enjoyed the meal more. Warning: the Loco Moco plate is not for gravy-shy people because the food is swimmin’ in it! Personally I think the macaroni salad tastes good with a bit of gravy on the noodles… don’t you judge me! :)
