I must’ve gotten Kida on a bad day. I got there at noon and she didn’t start until 1pm. I got small to medium braids to be curled and they were shoulder length. I did not leave her apartment until 2am the oncoming morning! When I called her she gave me a range of $ 150 to $ 200. I do not do ranges so I tasked her to a price and she said $ 150. Typical price for what I wanted but of course, I pulled out $ 200. So I get there at noon and she is on the phone with her furniture company and asking me to take a look down her sofa so I could see the hole. There was a hole in the side and I did take a picture for her and then she asked me to email it to the dealer. All of this took one hour. Then afterwards she & her daughter fought about eating and lunch and other issues that had nothing to do with me. She did not start my hair until 2pm! If I would’ve came to the original appointment, I wouldn’t have left her house until 4am! Now down to the hair. I must say EVERYLASTONEOFMYBRAIDSARETHESAMESIZE! And she does not cheat in the middle at all. I have a lot of hair that is thick and curly and wavy. I know I will always pay a little more but 14 hours? Really. That was just ridiculous. I could’ve went to see Pookie and them in the hood and stayed 12 hours for less! The reason I prefer an African to braid my hair is because of their technique and quickness. Not the case with Kida. On top of all that I messed up and asked her about a purse I saw underneath her TV. That ran into her showing me her other 4 businesses. Now I am not knocking anybody’s hustle, keep hustling for real. But do not let the hustle interfere with the current job. I was going to refer her purses and shoes to my staff but after all that time and the overall slowness of the job, I cannot. Insult to injury she charges $ 200 ‘because it took so long.’ So long Kida.

Kida is a really great person and she does lovely work. It also didn’t take her to long to braid my hair which was great because I expected to be there all day but it only took about 4 – 5 hours for medium/large box braids.

One of my excuses for working out less than I should was always my hair. I’m sure many can relate to the frustration of scrambling in the morning to look decent for work(or life) after an intense and sweaty workout – or just not wanting to put to much heat on the hair to fix those sweated out styles. The decision to get box braids was a 2part process. 1. I am growing out the pixie Mohawk I’ve had for years, and 2. My lifestyle involves a decision to be fit and healthy. So, a protective style was my solution. I researched the dangers of braids(edges wearing thin, follicles dying from heavy weight, proper moisturizing and care, etc.) I also researched my potential stylist, pondered for a few weeks and finally making my move. I am VERY pleased with my decision to have Kida braid my hair. Because I wanted them extra long, the cost covered the time for two braiders. It was money well spent. Kida and her braid-partner spent a days worth of work, and did an excellent job! I will definitely not hesitate to call Kida whenever I want my hair braided. I should also mention I shared my concerns with Kida about not wanting my braids so tight to cause follicle damage from excess pulling… I had no excess pulling, and have had no wear on my edges at all. I made a batch of ACV wash, as well as a Co-wash to spray my braids with weekly, and five weeks later in still getting so many compliments and people asking who did my hair. If you’re considering long braids do keep in mind that they are heavy. It took a week or more for my neck to get used to the extra weight.(See pics of weeks 1 – 3)

I love the way my hair came out! The time it took to get done was the… normal amount of time. About 6 hours. And the price was decent. The only issue, which I can well get over, is that you get your hair done at her home. But I get that not everyone are able to have a shop. At any rate, I’ll definitely be scheduling another appointment. I’m very satisfied. Kida gave me a few cards to pass out if people inquired about my hair. And I’ve given out 2 cards in two weeks. I’m not the only one that thinks my hair looks good!!!

I am not originally from California and I was excited at the idea of FINALLY having my hair done by hairstylists that specialize in ethnic hair. My father is Iranian and my mother is African, so I have a unique grade of hair, and since I grew up in a very small very European town, I had resolved myself to being content with my ‘kitchen hairdo’s’ I did on my own. When I first moved here I googled searched very description of ‘black or ethnic stylist’ you can think of. I tried the three or so salons that popped up and was disappointed EVERY single time. I decided that someone somewhere lied to me and the REAL hairstylist only lived in Oakland. SO, instead of driving hours to get a decent ‘do I searched for braiders. I found two other braiders that I tried and neither one of them were any good, as a matter of fact one girl braider my hair so poorly some of my braiders were connected together and I took my braids out almost immediately! I do have to say that I am biased and prefer African hair braiders because African’s use a clean, more direct technique when braiding hair; so if you have micros the«American» version it usually takes a lot of time, patience, combing, and hair loss to take them out — however; a decent African micro braid will comb out with conditioner and a rat tail comb in seconds. SO after trying the other girls I looked for an African Braider and found Kida. Whew— I was happy with my braids and have been going back to her only for the past two years. Recently, I went to Kida to get my hair braider and forgot my braiding hair at home. Kida and I went to the beauty supply store and she convinced me to try a weave. NOW — let me predicate this by saying that I don’t have anything against women who wear weaves — BUT, I have seen a lot of women out here missing their hairlines and I’m not convinced that a lot of these stylists in Sacramento know how to apply weave correctly. Again, I went to other stylist and had my hair weaved and had horrible experiences. So I thought worst case scenario if I didn’t like Kida’s weave I could work with her to get my hair where I wanted it since she and I have an established relationship. Turns out — Kida’s weave is just as great as her braids. All the things I hated about the other weaves I had are eliminated through Kida’s technique. I have had no itching, no pulling, my hair is tight but not TOO tight, and it blends expertly. I will update this post if anything changes but so far Kida is my one-stop-shop for hair!

Kida always makes my hair look fabulous! She is the only one I let braid my hair for the last 10 years and I’ve never been disappointed. She is experienced in Senegalese twists, micro braids, Brazilian knot hair extensions, Malaysian weaves and many more hairstyles for all ethnicities.

Kida Kida Kida, you have blown me away!!! If anyone knows me, my hair is an essential part of my look. My style changes often, and a lot of the times the change is drastic! So, recently I was in the mood for Kinky Twists, and to my upset my normal braid lady has moved to Florida! And I guess flying to Florida is out of the question so I was a search for a new braid lady. I reached out to friends and coworkers and no one worked out. Why did it not occur to me to look on Unilocal?I’m Unilocaling everyday! Kida was the 1st business to pop up, after typing in braiding. I reached out to Kida, via text, exchanged info, sent her an old picture of me with twists, and discussed the prices. Kida was very easy to work with, reasonable priced, so we made an appointment. At this time Kida, does work out of her apartment. Check this out, she has a salon chair smack dap in the middle of her living room!!! The chair lifts and swizzles as most salon chairs do! Her apartment was clean, and I felt very comfortable! Kida went to work! We began around 4:15 pm and my hair was being dipped and sprayed at 9:45 pm. For those who do not know, 5 ½ hours for kinky twists is a record time! Plus we did have bathroom breaks in between. My normal lady would have taken around 8 – 9 hours! I was so glad to return home at a normal hour and looking quite Fabulous!!! Kida has been in the USA for a little over ten years, she has had several loyal customers since she arrived. I think she can add me to that list, and of course I’m passing on the word! Kida does weaves for all colors, braids, twists and more, just inquire! If you go to Elisa Kida F. profile page you can see more pictures. Take a look at my final product on this business page! Thanks Kida!
