While staying nearby at the Hampton Inn, this place popped up for Peruvian food. We drove up the road and right past… what looks like a dive Mexican restaurant. U-turn! Asked about the Peruvian menu, ordered deep fried yucca, various bottled beer, followed by the ceviche and the(beef) lomo saltado. All wonderful. The lucuma ice cream wasn’t the freshest, but was still fantastic with a bit of salt. Chef Jimmy himself brought out our main dishes and the check. Really good Peruvian food hidden behind a less-than stellar façade. Appearances can be deceiving.

May not look like much on the outside, but this place is a real gem! The service is always great, everyone who works here is very accommodating & friendly! I have had a variety of things off the Peruvian & Mexican menus and every time it is delicious! This place is a must try & repeat(often)!!

I came across this restaurant on Unilocal a couple of months ago and I’ve been wanting to check it out. My wife’s parents are from Ecuador so we were trying to find similar South American food. While Peru and Ecuador have different foods many things are similar. We finally made it to the restaurant and while going through their menu my wife was familiar with many of the dishes. We ordered a few dishes(in the name of research to verify authenticity) and this place is definitely legit. The food reminded me of my mother-in-law’s homestyle cooking; it was delicious(try the lomo saltado). I’ll be back for the same food and all the other dishes I want to try.

The Peruvian food is really good, they have all the classics, and the prices are reasonable. You can’t go wrong with the classic lomo saltado or a ceviche. And the Mexican food is ok too. No indication outside they sell Peruvian food but they do. Leave the American Express at home.

It’s not easy finding Peruvian food. When it comes down to finding a Peruvian restaurant, I search high and low, in good areas and bad areas, I’ll do whatever it takes to find a Peruvian restaurant. I was ecstatic when I found out there was a restaurant in Sacramento. This place was soooo hard to find, the address will take you to a Mexican restaurant. We drove up and down Auburn 3 – 4 times and could not find«Jimmy’s.» I ended up messaging a fellow Unilocaler for directions and she told me it’s INSIDE the Mexican restaurant. Oh… ok. So we walked into the restaurant and we were greeted and handed some menus and I asked«Is there a Peruvian restaurant in here.» She took the menus and handed us different menus and said yes and I chuckled. Despite the sketchy environment and the confusion for finding this place the food is pretty good. We order the Ceviche– the fish quality was pretty good and it had a ton of red/purple onions which I loved. We also got the Lomo Saltado which is typical must try Peruvian dish if you’ve never had it. French fries, rice, garlic, grilled onions and tomatoes with sirloin strips. Sounds weird but it’s mouth watering and delicious. Causa-potato with shrimp and onions, typically has crab but this did not. Overall the food was decent, still debating if I’m going to go back. It’s the only place in Sacramento so I don’t have much of a choice.

I was born in Peru and I lived there till I was 10. This restaurant makes me feel like I’m having a home cooked meal that my mom or my Tia made. Chef Jimmy’s cooking brings me home every single time. The prices are great for the amount and quality of food. If you haven’t tried this place you must try it.
