Great food at a even better price. The fried fish and shrimp are really good and perfectly season. I also love their candy yams and cabbage.

So sad that these people have to work in such a ghetto dump. The food looked great but the taste was bland. We got the ribs which turned out to be boiled and sopping with water and cheap BBQ sauce, the chicken was so dry it could have qualified as chicken jerky, the greens I was the most excited about turned out to be sweet instead of the spicy bitter taste they should have, cornbread well let’s say I had it on standby to use as a weapon in case the weird little guy out front who was muttering to himself and doing kunfu while making swishing noises decided to try and attack me. Honestly the people that came in there were exactly what you would expect in a ghetto neighborhood like that, enough so I wouldn’t let my family get out of the vehicle. But on a bright side it was cheap and you got a decent portion. It is located in a store and it is very run down looking, I found out due to high crime in there and the local patrons you cannot just go up there and order then pay. You have to go to the front counter and pay then a receipt prints out in the back for them to make your order. If you want cheap bland soul food this is the place to be … just go during the day and leave your family at home were they are safe.

Went for the first time today & got Catfish nuggets, shrimp, yams & greens for $ 10 not bad, I surely will be back. The greens could have had more flavor that’s why I gave 4 stars I love greens I was disappointed verybut everything else was seasoned pretty good the yams were soooo good. I have lived in Sac for about 8 months & pass by this place almost everyday & finally decided to give it a try. Not really your ideal place to be serving food, the area isn’t that good & plus it’s in the back of a liquor store but other than that it was pretty good glad I gave it a try!

I know it sounds crazy– soul food made by Hmong people in the back of a rickety old grocery store in the middle of the hood. Don’t judge until you try it. I went for the first time today and the smothered pork chops were some of the tastiest pork chops I have ever had. The portions are huge! The mac and cheese and black eyed peas were also great. It also came with mashed potatoes. I want to also try the fried chicken and meat loaf. Definitely a no frills establishment though.

Food isn’t bad but it isn’t great either. The macaroni and cheese could have used more flavor but the shrimp was delicious!

So I just moved to Natomas area and have been craving for papaya salad. I was so desperate I was willing to go to a Thai restaurant to order it but after doing some research, I saw Jimmy’s on Unilocal and after seeing this spot makes it a Hmong/Lao style I knew I had to try it. I went to Jimmy’s today and made my order the lady there let me try it to see if anything was missing. It was on point and I’m so satisfied with there papaya salad! Please go try it for yourself. FYI its rare to find othentic papaya salad this days especally if its not in south sac.

Jimmy’s is in the ghetto. Off of Norwood. I think driving there you’ll decide if it’s a place you want to get out of your car and try or not. It’s sort of a convenience store and hot food pick up. Pick-up because there’s nowhere for you to eat. For the food, you gotta pay at the register first and then head to the back with your receipt to pick up. I recommend heading to the back and checking out what the hot food sides looks like before ordering. There’ll be menus(2) at the register and in the back. Soul and Hmong Food. It’s cheap and yeah, it’s actually good. mostly. It’s not gonna be that clean and pristine atmosphere and if that doesn’t turn you off. Do it. You can call your order in. for a quicker pick-up. It’s quite a wait from ordering until your food is ready. Maybe try going first and call it in another time and see how that goes. Or vice versa. There was some prepared packaged foods available as well. I started off trying the catfish nuggets and it was pretty good. I only wished I had asked for extra hot sauce. 3.5 stars

This was an amazing experience — the service was exceptional, the food stunning and altogether one of the best restaurants we have eaten in. We researched restaurants that I wanted to visit before hand, and they opened their bookings a month before and I managed to get the time and date I wanted. Thus Jimmy’s have a wonderful environment that’s why this place is good for groups as well. Don’t worry about price range because price is reasonable at cost. we enjoyed a lot in Jimmy’s.Its a wonderful experience for us. One week has been gone but this place is still taking our lot of smiles because we really love the service. This place is amazing and worth the price. Thanks to Jimmy’s for being the nice expression

I am a big fan of cafeteria-style, hot-foods places for the most part. And Jimmy’s is a good example of one! They also make a good papaya salad in the kitchen for $ 5! Three stars seem too low, but 4 seems too high, at least in my opinion. More of a 3.5. Most of the building is small market, with some dry groceries and cold drinks, but the hot food is what gets my review. Jimmy’s has a large selection of cheap plates that are loaded with food. They have fried chicken, meat loaf, turkey legs, shrimp, and fish. I’ve had the chicken, shrimp, and fish before. Their sides include macaroni and cheese, red beans and rice, collard greens, pinto beans, black eyed peas, spaghetti, green beans, and I’m sure much more that I’m forgetting. Today, I had the catfish plate with a side of collard greens and red beans and rice. Their plates come with a corn muffin as well. The fish was a little dry, though, so I had to use some hot sauce and lemon juice with it. The sides are always pretty good, and they were today as well. Came out to be $ 8.50 and tax. Still worth it! In the past, I’ve had the fried chicken and fried shrimp too. Both were very good! I think half pound of shrimp may have only been around $ 5 – 6 and was enough to share some with my brother. I remember the chicken plates being a good deal as well. I think around $ 6.50 for two or three pieces with two sides and a muffin. Finally, I’ve also had their papaya salad! It’s more of a Lao/Hmong style than at Thai places, so heavier on the fish sauce and paste I think. But it’s really good, for $ 5! I’ve also noticed they do sandwiches, but I haven’t gotten to try them. I don’t plan to either though. All in all, a pretty place for a cheap, quick bite. The service is fast, and the papaya salad is fresh made. My two star deductions come from the parking lot being a little crowded by people at the recycling center outside, and the dry fish today, but it’s still a solid place to eat. I will be back!

This is kind of a scary area with obvious drug deals happening right in front of the store as I wait in the car with 2 young babies and a mean pregnant woman I call my sister. The wait was extremely long, seriously, we waited for our food for about 45 minutes and by the time we got it and ate it the wait didn’t seem all that worth it. The food was alright, but tasted really salty for the most part. The location of this place is pretty bad and so is the wait with a hasty staff. The fried seafood was good, the rest is mediocre.

I’ve been going here forever. Knew Jimmy before it passed on ownership to the Hmong folks. Great Food for cheap cheap. *If they still make the Angel Wings or Fried Bananas: call ahead with the order before pick up. Angel Wing: Chicken wings deboned and stuffed with glass noodles and herbs deep fried.

A true ghetto gem. You might be scared to go to this place… and that might be warranted… But you should really harden up and check it out. Fantastic menu, low prices, great quality… and its in the hood… Yeah, I’m here on the regular. Hit me up
