Unfriendly service. Yuck, I ordered the Hawaiian roll to go but when i opened the container-it looked like slop-shit and taste just as bad. Definitely not fresh. How upsetting. L&L please forgive me. I will never stray again.

Food is ok. Prices aren’t bad. Unfriendly staff just seem disinterested. Jerry Springer and then cops blasting on the TV. No kidding. Pretty ghetto. Close to work, but I’m not coming back.

I like eating here because it’s cheap and you get more than enough to eat. However, every time I eat thier food, my stomach feels a bit sick later. Overall, I still like going there because the food taste great, especially the bbq beef.

I worked up an appetite shopping at Target(lol), and decided to give this place a try. I opted for one of their mini meals($ 4.95). I went with the fried mahi mahi. It came with macaroni salad and rice. The fish was fried perfectly and was very crispy — a nice change from chicken katsu. My bf had the chicken katsu, which was just okay. I prefer L&L’s chicken katsu. For the price, this place is definitely worth it for people on the go.

The food is average and the cashiers make it extremely obvious that they hate their job. The spam musubi is good and it’s at a reasonable price. It’s the only reason I come here.

Got the rib last week and what mistake. The meat was as tough as rubber and there was hardly any meat on the bone. A lot of the workers don’t speak very good English so communication and friendly service is lacking.

Man, this place was pack during lunch hour, no place to sit inside and the patio too. Getting the mini meal bbq beef, really sweet bbq beef and coming with a steamed cabbage, scoop of mac salad and a scoop of steamed white rice. To me this place kinda coppy cat of L and L Hawaiian bbq plus the sushi menus added.

I discovered this place on my way from Target. This shopping area used to be my go to shopping when I used to live in the area. I am rediscovering. This is a very nice and hip place. As you walk in they have a cool fish pond with very happy fish swimming around!!! Menu clearly marking everything above and behind the register area. They painted this little gem very nicely with great décor. Comfy seating. Very clean. I had to wash my hands so the bathroom gets an A+, too. I ordered the Chicken Katsu. You get rice and macaroni salad, but I opted for all rice. I loved their chicken. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Oh! My meal also came with grilled chicken. Tasty, but I am in love with the Katsu! Loved their fluffy sticky white rice. Add hot sauce and I am good to go! About $ 10 for lunch and I was a happy camper! Next…I’d like to try their meal that comes with the ribs! Looked really good!!! This place is located in a shopping center. Ample parking lot! Love it!!!

Their BBQ chicken isn’t really that good. The lunch special isn’t good either. The meat was very hard and tough. Fries was alright. I won’t be ordering those again. I did like their spam musubi though. If I ever decide to try this place again, I’ll opt for the sushi. Can’t say much about the service besides the fact that they are a bit slow.

I have eaten here with my family a few times the last couple of years. It is just as good as L&Ls. Pretty similar menu. The prices at Hula Hawaiian are a bit cheaper but, not much. Unfortunately, I love the macaroni salad and the rice. Carb overload. A nice stop after shopping at Target.

Good. I didn’t think it was as good as L&L BBQ in Redwood City, CA, but it did it’s job of filling me up. I’ve been here twice and service hasn’t been a problem. The cutlet is great, as usually, but I wasn’t a big fan of the BBQ chicken or curry chicken. Wish more potatoes were added to the chicken curry, but I think people would rather want more meat. Prices are fine, but if you are trying to impress someone, go somewhere else. Otherwise, if you want to be filled with a lot of food, fill your belly up with some Hawaiian BBQ!!! Overall: Good price, great service, good food

I come here just for their sushi rolls. They’re delicious and fills you up. I noticed the prices went up since they’ve been open. My favorites are the dragon roll & hawaiian roll. I wouldn’t go here for anything else though. They give very little portions and there are other places that are more delicious and gives you much bigger portions for the same price to get your hawaiian fix.

I came here at exactly 10:30. Opening time and to my surprise walked into a dirty bathroom. How is the bathroom dirty when u just opened. Other then that i love the sushis here, well, the ones i’ve tried. The volcano roll dragon roll. Hula roll and caterpillar rolls are all good. And the bbq beed isnt so bad either. L&L has better macaroni salad though

One of my favorite places to grab lunch. We ate here constantly while going to college. Delicious inexpensive sushi and other tasty food. Or if you’re low on funds, there was nothing better than grabbing a hot and really yummy miso soup for a dollar. Especially in Winter. I would recommend this place to anyone. Really affordable, good food and there’s a koi pond in the front of the restaurant!

This place hits the spot! Super good portions. Freshly made chicken katsu and chicken teriyaki. My honey bunny have a dragon roll and she loved it. Not good for groups however. Maybe a small group of four people at most. I’ve been here before and there were no seats available inside. :)

A cute spot in South Sac that enticed me for lunch with its wonderful smoky aroma following my misadventure at Comcast. I ordered a chicken katsu mini meal that comes with a scoop of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. The chicken katsu was fresh and crisp, the macaroni salad was delightful, though incredibly filling. I helped myself to katsu sauce at the counter which accompanied everything deliciously(would you like some chicken with your katsu sauce?). The prices are incredibly reasonable and the mini meal sizing(~$ 5) is perfect for lunch. I will definitely return if I ever find myself in this particular pocket of South Sac and try their other Hawaiian specialties. yes despite the fact that they are not authentic Hawaiian anything, but how can you go wrong with a bunch of fried food and sweet sauces?!

The restaurant has a family owned feeling to it… In a bad way. Upon walking in, the cashier area is cluttered, the soda fountain dispenser is sticky trashy, the workers are standing around talking loud to each other in Cantonese, pens and even the tree are attached using tape, thankfully I didn’t need to use the bathroom to ruin my appetite. In summary, the atmosphere did not feel like a Hawaiian Island restaurant. The food was average and nothing to write home about which makes me question why I’m even Unilocaling about this place. They would have a higher rating from me if they placed more quality and effort into things such as: using enough seaweed around their masubi to wrap the whole thing so it doesn’t fall apart before I pick it up and the food not being cooked with old oil. They’ve been around for awhile and I’ve been meaning to try it when I pass by, thankfully I haven’t missed much of anything. Go to L&L for your Hawaiian fix.

After pondering what to eat for lunch, I decided to give Hula Hawaiian a try. Reviews from my fellow Unilocal friends were mixed but wanted to gather my own opinion. Plus I had Spam Musubi on the brain! I arrived at 12:30 ish during the peak of lunch hour but no worries they were swift and quick. I decided on the mixed BBQ plate which includes short ribs, beef, chicken thighs, two scoops of rice and one scoop of macaroni salad. I also ordered an order of Spam Musubi; great price and comes with two(at L & L they only give one). After getting some sauces I ran home to dive in. Meh I experienced better! The meat was pretty greasy and lacked in flavor. The macaroni salad was bland. And oddly the Spam Musubi tasted like fish?! I know Nori is seaweed but I never thought there was a fishy flavor. Lol maybe they store the Spam with fish? Overall I didn’t eat much and let my Hubby eat what he wanted. This did not satisfy my Hawaiian cravings and I doubt I’ll ever be back. Dear L&L your prices are a bit higher, food size a bit smaller but always consistent; Sorry I cheated!

Came here on a Sunday and it was quite slow. The girl behind the counter was almost rushing me and my friends to order, luckily I had my mind set after a quick glance at the entire menu. So I ordered first to give the others time to think. I chose the Mahi Mahi plate, which comes with a scoop of macaroni salad, 2 scoops of rice and also steamed cabbages underneath the fish. It’s very similar to L & L if you’ve been there before. What this place lack is the customer service. I felt like even though her task was to take order and punch it in, she could do better by opening up more and chat with a smile. We weren’t even greeted upon entering. When the food was done, she came to where we sat and served us our tray of food. But instead of opening up the individual boxes to show what’s inside, she just placed all of them on the table and scattered it for us to determine which one is ours. It’s not too big of a deal but I felt like, the little effort to memorize our order(s) and serving it directly to us would be way better off than scattering it all over the table and making us shuffle for what’s ours. My mahi mahi was just ok. It was pretty bland which isn’t a problem for me if I had some lemon. It came with tartar sauce, but after a single dip, I shoved it aside. I couldn’t quite explain how it tasted, but I just didn’t like it. I even attempted to try to dip it into their teriyaki sauce near the soda machine. even the teriyaki sauce tasted funky. It was very pale as well, so I figured it doesn’t have as much soy sauce in it. Only thing I liked was the macaroni salad. I have had way better experience at L & L in Elk Grove. Although this place is quite closer to me from school and would have made a perfect lunch stop, I don’t think I’ll give this place another chance.

I like it because my kids BOTH liked it. It’s rare when both siblings like a place and so I have to give this place props… but as a disclaimer, I have to note that my kids have no idea what Hawaiian food, AUTHENTIC Hawaiian food should taste like, so please, if you don’t think this is Hawaiian food, please don’t hate. We’re noobs. My youngest ordered the teriyaki chicken because he’s a creature of habit. He normally orders chicken nuggets at every restaurant we go to, and since this place did not offer nuggets, I think he ordered teriyaki chicken because that’s what he eats when we eat at the mall — all malls serve teriyaki chicken, right? Anyway, at first bite he raved at how delicious it was that I had to try it, and I have to say, I’ve tried my fair share of mall teriyaki chicken and this one did taste fabulous! My older one, ordered the spam noodle soup, but he said that the spam masubi was quite possibly the most perfect food ever created — his words, not mine. When he saw my Loco Moco, he got angry that I did not tell him about it. Guessed he was attracted to the gravy and the egg over meat part… lol. AND, I must also give credit to the macaroni salad here. My older one hates, absolutely HATES macaroni salad and so I was surprised when he said that the macarani was fantastic… again his words not mine. He said that that’s how macaroni salad should be — not«sweet», he says, like how all the others are made. So, I guess if you’re not a macaroni fan, you should try it because you might like it. Like I said, this was our first introduction to the Hawaiian cusisne and we will definitely be on the lookout in the future to taste more…
